  2. Maybe the difference is that China has long term planning and interests and we do the 100 mtr sprint going from politician to politician and NO this is not a request to abolish democracy!
  3. I think increasing repair costs and personal injury claims are also a factor in overall price increases.
  4. Dear Ollie (and all) - I bought my RX400H last year with the battery and relay repair already done in Lexus Poole with a vague mention of "modifications done". As the new owner I called them to dig into what that may mean and if ingress had been spotted and dealt with. They fobbed me off with "oh nothing really just tidying up" which seemed, frankly, a bit evasive and very poor considering the size of the bill! Not paid by me luckily. Not long after purchase I saw water coming in during a downpour - at the rear of the roof corners, not from the hatch but further in. Looked to me like the roof itself/the roofrails were the issue. Research led me to a few videos that had similar leaking from the roof so I removed the roof rails and roof trim pieces and re-sealed all the seams and also the bolt holes with sealant. For good measure I did all the panel gaps and hinges etc down the back of the car and just spent one of the wettest winters in Wales with no issues (crossed fingers). I'm sure there are write-ups on here and elsewhere to show the way, it's not a huge job and the worst of it was getting the roofrail covers to ping off without snapping the tabs (only partially successful).

  6. Thanks for the info! I'll watch out for the water pump issue!
  7. Hey folks, Been around the Lexus brand for many years now having worked for them for a lengthy period up to 7 years ago. Recent job move has seen me in the market for a car of my own so the hunt was on for a GS (gen 3) in hybrid form, and preferably an F-Sport or a Premier, in a nice colour. Found advertised 230 miles away a 2014 model GS 300h F-Sport in Crimson Red pearl, with Mark Levinson Hi-Fi and only 41k miles with total Lexus history from day one. Collected at the weekend and Sunday was spent refining the paintwork with a two stage machine polish and other than that it just needs using! It'd been a while since I'd driven a GS so it took a little time to drag through the memory banks to remember how everything worked. More than happy with it at the moment, i'll get some pics up soon. Cheers, Matt
  8. MOT shouldn't be a problem. I'm more debating whether it's worth deleting it for better sound. Do you think it will make it louder/deeper or not much difference to what I have now?
  9. Enjoyed my LI 150 at that time - still got the moth eaten Parka bought from Army & Navy Stores, Baddow Road roundabout, Chelmsford. I think they were ex-Canadian Forces?
  10. Hi, My 2017 IS300h inner tie rod adjustment nut has virtually seized solid and is making accurate tracking nearly impossible. My local mechanic contacted Lexus regarding getting the part and they have said it's an entire steering rack replacement for €1300 + VAT and fitting. That's utter madness considering I can see spurious parts for sale online. Does anyone know the thread diameter and pitch of the inner tie rod? We are thinking of taking It off and cleaning the threads with a tap and die nut once we have the right size. Thanks.
  11. There were several issues with 2016 and 2017 vehicles (well documented, including oil leaks) but I thought they'd had them all sorted by 2018 models. I think all of the issues were learned from by 2019, and from then until 2022 cars have a very solid reliability record.
  12. I notice this post is a few months old, so maybe my response now isn't of any use, but just in case here it is.... I have an Ohme charger and am on the Intelligent Octopus tariff. When I first used it last summer I was also concerned about the cap being removed, however I was assured that as the charging was controlled by Octopus I was guaranteed to never pay more than off peak rates. The cap is best left off to allow Octopus more flexibility to make use of surplus energy. This has proved to be the case. In the early days there were several occasions where I plugged the car in during the day and found the car charging, however I was only ever charged the off peak rate. Nowadays it tends to delay charging until 23:30 which is fine. It all works well for me.

  18. I am afraid not dear boy. But Harrods and Selfridges are having a price war over them. Buy two, get a scullery maid free was the best offer I have seen so far. That's the deal I went for. The urchins sub for each other when one falls ill with cholera or whatever and the maid cleans up after them and cooks their meager meals. All works out wonderfully for ME! I don't have to see them, hear them (except for the ready call, of course) and they are self sufficient, as the scullery girl has such delicate light fingers, she can half inch a whole roast chicken off a rotisserie in broad daylight without anyone seeing a thing.
  19. All this really is BS. Such a poor show from such a supposedly prestigious brand. In my opinion they really have dented their reputation with behaving just like all the others. Lexus used to be a cut above, shame really.
  20. I carry a small electric tire inflator, so if I get a warning of low tyre pressure I can hopefully reinflate it. This should increase the chances of being able to get the run flat tyre repaired rather than having to replace it.
  21. I found that RRG ( Red Rubber Grease) works very well on the slide pins to prevent seizing. It’s very thick so only needs a thin smear and doesn’t break down.
  22. Tried silicon spray but no joy 😞 I could see with the naked eye that one of the sensors' plastic ring around it (believe this is the fascia of the rubbed seal) had slightly been nicked a little, so it could be that. But strangely if I leave the car in the garage for 2+ days - when I come to start her up...all works fine .....for 5 mins max! I'm expecting Lexus to wriggle out of the warranty so at least I've got the Camry sensors to fall back on. I believe it would be c£200 fitted when I discussed it with the parts department (before I realised I'm in warranty). I suppose it's worth it to not have to spend half an hour on my back to get the bumper off, but we'll see. If anyone ever wants to try and DIY, let me know and I'll send a few photies of how-to. - there's a couple of blind bolts at the back of the wheel arch that are an absolute PITA. Also one of the wiring connectors needs herculean strength to prize it from it's housing.
  23. Went to the local dealership this afternoon for some other business. And while I was there I asked for clarification. I have been told that the 360 Camera system operates till a maximum speed of 20 km/h or 12.5 miles/h So I keep my own dashcam.
  24. Hi Did you fix the rear air con and heated seats that wasn't working?
  25. There is one listed in the accessories section of the RX brochure so will be available from a Lexus dealer, but don't expect it will be cheap.
