The Good, the Bad and the Lovely – An Introduction

After 4 years of browsing the forum I thought it might be good manners to subscribe and post an introduction.  Our Lexus experience started in 2017 with the purchase of a new IS 300h Advance [the Good], which we kept for 3 years before part exchanging for an Approved Used 2019 RX 450h F-Sport.

Unfortunately we had dealership issues [the Bad] with the RX and quickly fell out of love with it after only 5 months, the experience tainted our Lexus relationship and literally drove us back to the dark side with the purchase of a new BMW G20 320i M-Sport. The BMW was a fine car but we still had the Lexus itch... and it needed to be scratched.

Luckily with BMW trade in prices going through the roof we managed to strike a good deal against a low mileage (4,000 miles) base model RC 300h in Sonic White [the Lovely] from a dealership on the other side of the country. Needless to say we’re happy to be back in the fold and looking forward to many miles of happy motoring in the RC and contributing to the LOC forum.

A couple of showroom pictures for now with more to follow in the RC threads.

Love the styling of the RC, and it does look fabulous in white pearl. Out of interest what were the issues with the approved used RX (assuming you are willing to speak about it publicly, no problem if not!)

Lovely car, it does look nice in white! Welcome to the forum btw.

Quite different cars you had in last 4 years or so, started with saloon, then an SUV and ended up with the coupe. 🙂

Can I ask, why an RC and not another RX or an ES, especially you had a saloon (BMW) before that?

We identified some damage (dents and large paint chips) that needed repairing as part of the purchase agreement. Unfortunately these were never rectified correctly (the colour was Azure Blue) and the car covered more miles between the dealer and their paint shop than we managed in 5 months. Despite all the promises by a Senior Manager we were constantly let down to the point where we said enough is enough. Shame really as we had a good relationship with the dealership up until that point.

We travel a lot between the UK and Southern Germany and the IS proved to be a capable cruiser over the 3 years that we owned it; the RX was intended to take over the role but due to Covid restrictions and the problems with the car it never came to pass. Since then our circumstances have changed and we no longer need a 4 door car and fell for the RC as soon as we saw it (I had a 24 hour test drive in an RC F-Sport back in 2017 but chose the IS instead).

If I could easily get into and out of an RC I’d have one like a shot! It’s an easy car to fall for…

Thanks for explaining Trev. That is not what Lexus UK wants to hear and frankly neither do we. We do encourage our Members to complain firmly and politely.

We did consider going down the formal complaint route but decided life is too short, plus at that moment in time we just didn’t need the hassle.
