Hi

Returned from holiday today, 2006 is250. Been sat for 8/9 days. Yuasa Battery under three years old. In 9 years of ownership never had it not start after being left the same amount of time previously.

Open car using keyless entry, in and out of boot - no problems.

Go back out 30 mins later i cant get into boot.

Cant lock car (it did open tho)

Green light shows on start button but wont fire up.

Some of the electrics worked but not enough to start the car.

Jumped and started no problem.

Going on holiday again shouldnt be so cold in march, but will be parking at the airport, dont want to come back to a Battery that wont turnover the engine.

Should i buy one of those rechargeable Battery packs or just change the Battery? The previous Battery lasted over six years so im suprised if i would have to change it at three years old.

Any advice appreciated.

Taz

Change to a bosch battery yuasa are rubbish batteries. Mine was still under warranty, but halfords would not replace it went flat after roughly 4 days

no use. No problem with the bosch.

Yes halfrauds own and Yuasa are unreliable batteries, both sold by halfrauds and they always refuse to replace them under warranty. I remember bringing the car to halfrauds and they diagnosed faulty Battery... I said "great it is your Battery under warranty, so you can replace it"... suddenly there is no fault for the Battery...

Thank you.

Battery was fitted by a lexus specialist, i will email them tomorrow and ask if the Battery is still under warranty. I said i wanted bosch (same as one being replaced) but they couldnt get hold of one and the car was off the road due to alternator failure, they offered the yuasa as it was available same day. lets see what they say....

Nothing wrong with Yuasa batteries, I have had them in several cars 🚗 without any problems, check for other underlying issues 😉

Buy one of these to keep in the boot!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/NOCO-GB20-UltraSafe-Lithium-Gasoline/dp/B015TKPT1A?ref_=ast_sto_dp

I got my NOCO (not this specific model, but one from the range) when I had to call the AA to start up our other car which had discharged to the point that a jump start wouldn’t do the job - and my elderly Halfords booster had rotted away in the garage!

The AA guy used a NOCO and starting was almost instantaneous!  I’ve used my own NOCO on it on one occasion since then but now avoid a repetition of the problem with a CTEK trickle charger.

Yes, it’s an additional expense - although you can also use it to charge up such as mobiles and laptops - and anyone else you come across with a flat Battery will be very grateful!

I have a 12v 5000mah lipo in my car that has a USB port for phone charging etc... It's a great little booster when needed. Just a couple of crocodile clips to attach to the Battery to give the car enough juice to start and let the alternator take over. I can charge it using the cigarette lighter in the car etc... and it takes up very little space.

To me it's like a dashcam. You never need it but when you do, you will be glad you have it. Same with a small compressor for tyres.

Re yuasa batteries. Just this August I bought a new battery. A Yuasa. Took it home charged it but it was faulty. Took it back and they swapped it no problem.

I am not sure I would want another such Battery considering brand new Battery was already faulty.

Just the luck of the draw as they say, recently ordered a brand new  oil pressure switch for a vauxhall corsa and you guessed it was faulty lol

That's rotten luck Taz. Let me know  what they do regarding the handbrake as I'm having issues with mine, the warning light it's on when it's off.

As for the caliper. If that's leaking then I suggest change both coz if one has gone the other is sure to follow soon. Look at Brakes International helluva lot cheaper than OE which I think are 400 quid a piece.

Car is now through the MOT and ready for me to pick up.

The work has been done to renew the handbrake and the caliper was fine, on investigation just turned out to be a buildup of grease.

Thanks for the responses and guidance on potential suppliers!
