UPDATE

Hi Guys,

Just giving you an update on the meet, after my holiday in Middle East, East and Far East :)

Unfortunately due to the extreme heat and overcrowding in Bangladesh I fell ill and had to spend most of time in an A/C'd hotel room, and I was in no state to visit a 3rd world village (without facilities that we all take for granted) :(.

However a few people came to visit us to say thank you for our generous charity, and told us how we made their future a lot brighter by helping them rebuild their shelter. The £12000 was distributed amongst 193 families (£62 buys a lot more then you think, that’s 2 months wages for one whole family of 8-10people).

Anyway this year as there is no emergency, we will be doing something a little different.

We will have profiles of around 20-30 HINDU families at the meet.

ONE lucky family will be selected by LOC'ers (by reading profiles or by a draw),

The family will be given capital to start their own livelihood; this money will be used to finance training (e.g. handicrafts, carpentry)

Or tools to start a business (e.g. fishery, horticulture)

For £500 one family (of 8-10 people) can start an income generating project involving all members of the family

We have chosen Hindu families because, they are the most poor, outcasted but hardworking people in the village.
