I'm on 8Mb/ps at home, usually download at ~840KB/ps :P

Basically Baz it means that I can download porn quicker than any of you lot :P

I miss working in Denmark, out there in the office we had over 30 155Mbps pipes - now that was a quick link :D

LOL... :lol::lol::lol:

I got myself 223Kb per second on a file download the other day (I have Telewest Broadband)!

Of course it also depends on how good the site is as well....funny how porn sites tend to push out your downloads at the best rate!! :D

NTL and Telewest are soon going to be releasing 10MB connections for their top level customers...can't wait!! Upload will be limited for obvious reasons but a MB per second download should be possible!! Woohoo.....streaming baby...it will be like real life, only on full screen!!

Just been updated to a 3Mb connection free of charge by NTL, am currently getting 2.891Mb/sec

Mr Morse im on 2mb with ntl are they offering a free upgrade then to 3mb.

£25 a month for 2mb,but its only £9.99 for 1mb!!!!!!!!!!!!!

£15 a month for another 1mb seems a bit steep now.

Webby

On the advice of another member, I downgraded my 3Mbps @ £39 to 2Mbps @25 per month - guess what - no difference at all in speed!!!!

NTL = named and shamed you skunks

No, if you had the old 1.5MB that was upgraded to 3MB

That was nice of that member to think of you like that ;) B)

SDSL Niraj? Is that home or work? If it's work I can blow that out the water :P

damn :(

its work... but its cool, we're thinking about upgrading it to a 4mb 1:1 connection....

nobody here uses it.... hardly. :D

we need the upstream, we do alot of work with SQL servers...

i only wish my home connection was that fast... i've been relegated to a piddly 1mb connection... just because my line attenuation happens to be at the 43db cut off!!!! Who do i blame ? BT or PlusNET!!! GRRRRRRRRRR

still, at least i've got work connections eh :D

It's all good fun mate, I couldn't believe my luck when I was in the office in Denmark, there are shedloads (ie 30+ 155Mbps) links to the net from that office, I tried some downloads and it was just stupid!!!

I was on 1 meg at my mum's for ages, eventually managed to get 2 meg (was on the 40 limit for that) and then moved and can get 8 meg here, and it's nearly half the price :D

Sorted!

I had to wait until they upped the limit to 40dbs mate recently, it did my nut in :(

Wish I could help you mate but unfortunately I'm not affiliated with BT at all!

Can you not get Bulldog or UKOnline round your way?

  • 2 weeks later...

Well... I've been upgraded (blueyonder)... not sure how much my QoS in the router is retarding it though....

819.1 kilobits per second

Downstream 4117 Kbps (514.6 KB/sec) 4446 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Upstream 381 Kbps (47.6 KB/sec) 411 Kbps (inc. overheads)

I need to play with my bandwidth throttleing values I think :)
