My CD changer has locked up and is displaying the ERR3 message, The stereo is not under warranty, I have tried all the tricks eg, removing fuses and thumping it, none of these worked, does anyone have any details of where I can send it to get repaired? thanx :D

Steve.

Try disconnecting it and leaving it for a few minutes.

If it needs repairing, try Auto Audio on Smithdown road. [assuming your not an exiled scouser that is]

What car is it in?

Good luck mate. If they want an arm and a leg complete with shirt sleeves and shoes and socks to fix it, there is another place near to Costco in town who repaired a friends one. I cant think of the address but if it comes to me I will post it :D

I was told by Lexus Stockport last week that the warranty on the audio had been extended to 4 years / 100k miles.

Apparently they change the whole unit (ie not just the cd changer) however it will be replaced by a reconditioned unit.

Fitting a recon unit is fine as long as they offer a decent warranty on it. From what I have read on here, they are aware of problems with this unit. Hopefully the exchange unit [as I prefer to call it] will be fitted with any mods that are required to stop the err 3 problem re-occurring.

If you have the unit out, you can take off the top cover to the changer without taking it out of it's holding frame.

In there you will see your CD's. If it is this bad, most likely a disc has slipped from one of the lugs on it's holder. They tend to slip off the rear ones - they were simply too small. Carefully prise up the disc back onto the lug with a small, long screwdriver. The disc's can now re-juggle to their home positions.

Hope this helps,

Brettster,you sold a duff unit to a fellow LEXI........not good :o

No I sold it as not working and listed the problem with it, so i was surprised that it made as much as it did, perhaps the guy just wanted the UK spec radio components.

I believe Lexus have extended the warranty on the stereo to 4 years because of all the problems (with err3)

I had mine changed at 18 months because of this. 18 months later the new unit did the same thing, when I asked the dealer they said no way, its out of warranty. Note that this was only about two weeks after the 3 yr warranty run out. They also said that replacements are only covered for 1yr so mine wasn't covered by even the 3yr warranty anyway, as it had been changed at 18 months.

No mention of 4yrs

What a bunch of :arrrggg-matey:
