I have just got some Bug & Tar remover, it is great stuff, but I was wondering if this is safe to use on the windscreen?

It doesn't say on the bottle, and most products like this say to keep it off the glass...

Thanks.

Windscreen - use anything you like - except wire wool :D

I always clean my windows with hot water with a dash of vinegar and a drop of Fairy Liquid in it. Squeegee off, works a treat - absoloutely no smears

Inside and out, car and house windows, display cases, computer monitors, tv screens (ok, the last two you have to go easy on the amount of water you put on), glass shelves - any glass where you want a smear free surface.

Works much better than anything bottled, and dirt cheap too :D

Oh, and if you have allergys, it's a super solution for wet-dusting with. Better than Pledge for wood, although you do have to buff with a soft cloth. Stays cleaner longer too :D :D

Hi...

The question was really related to the bugs on my windscreen... I have glass cleaner, but it doesn't always get rid of the smears from squished bugs..

I tried the Meguires stuff, and works a treat.. even on the windscreen...

tip for you

when you have cleaned your car.. spray back to black or a dash shine scross the across bumper and do not wipe off

when you wash the car next the bugs simply fall off! great for shows because all you need to do when you arrive is wipe the bugs off.. no water needed.

At risk of a yell!!!!! Anyone tried MER products Ive been using it for years and there all pretty good, particularly the vynl cleaner come rejuvinator, this works a treat on door rubbers to improve sealing hence lesson the noise.

The windscreen polish is brill and so is the normal polish, you must have seen the demos where they set light to a mini bonnet, come to think of it so do lots of others.

Has anyone use the Maguiars "Microfibre Drying Towel" ??

if so, how would rate it's efficiancy compared to using a chammy..

(equiring as it cost £14.99  )

The drying towel is superb, wipe mine down with a flexiblade and then finish with the cloth, done in no time. :)

You are joking right :D or are you just advertising <_<

Of course you can use it on the screen ...... glass don't dissolve that easy. I guess afterwards you would polish them up with Meguirs window cleaner .....

I would not recommend Hydrofluoric Acid for windscreens.... :D

Well just had the car valeted on wednesday (early start for LOC Meet & JAE), found a really good local place that does it, apparently he is one of the best around..

I took the car down to show him what needed to be done, as the car had some hair line scratches here and there and had the "White Polish" marks in the window, bodykit areas etc..

The Interior needed to be cleaned n polished up and so did under the hood (too lazy to clean the interior) :whistling:

Anyway the guy said no problem.. but i told him i'll supply him the MAGUIARS polish n wax, (as he uses Autoglym) i left the car with him, picked it up yesterday afternoon, he did a brilliant job  , it was cleaned inside, outside, top, bottom etc.. it was in complete mint condition. Realy spotless, there wasn't a single bad spot that i could point out

Cost me around £80 for it to be done.. but worth while for definate..

(oh, by the way he is a B*W( :yack: ) Specialist, so it was good to park my Lex with the B*W (:yack:) , as it was getting more of a notice than them)
