So after my fantastic trip across Europe in my 400 I'm thinking of selling my Skoda and going for a 430, probably a 54 plate with a view to getting it converted (if not already done) to LPG. I'd like to know a couple of things from you guys in the know before I do;

What common problems do I need to know about?

&

Does the 430 (facelift) have Bluetooth phone or a built in phone at all?

&

Does anyone have one for sale?

Some might argue that the Mk3 ..... yours ........ is the very best of the LS400s in any event.

One reads so much grief on here from owners with the LS430 !

Yeah, I know that the Mk3 and Mk4 are both very good models and in some respects more relyable but I'm not a fan of the shape of the Mk4 and I don't really want a car that old. I love the shape of the facelift 430 and the level of kit is uncomprimising really.

hi

will - i like the shape of the late LS430s too - here what to look out for

1) Make sure no Suspension noises as its air susoension - and if theres a fault it could be very expensive to fix

2) Check all electrics especially parking sensors

3) Steering motors are know to fail

4) Check rear aircon works - if it doesnt it could mean coroded pipes which is alot to fix - An owner posted recently about this

5) Boot struts failure are a very common fault - so check them

hope this helps

Mine is a 03 plate and I had a major failure of the gearbox due to the oil cooler failing and dumping a large amount of cooling fluid into the gearbox however a friend who has same model did a simple conversion to an air cooler cheap about £70 for all parts and about an hours work I have done the same and all works fine worth thinking about I know that this has happend to one or two others.

good luck with your search
