i presume you mean the lights at the rear of the car and not on the dash

the emergency /handbrake has nothing to do with the lights

i would presume you have a sticky switch

not sure on location of this but guessing at the brake pedal position

Try lifting up the handbrake pedal with your hand when you release it with the level to make sure it comes all the way up. If it is coming all the way up then maybe the switch is faulty.

I take it you have checked your brake fluid?

Exactly the 2 answers I would have suggested.

If it's a dash light, check your fluid.

If it's the brake lights themselves check the switch. If you look on the top of the brake pedal lever you will see the switch has a plug - just uplug it as a test.

Sorry it isn't that clear. It is the break lights on the dashboard. I tried lifting the handbreak petal while releasing the lever and it didn't affect anything. I'll check the fluid right now. If the fluid is low, would i need to drain all the fluid out then add new fluid or can I just pour some more in?

thanks
