Hello From Weymouth

Hi I'm John from Weymouth, South Dorset. I got myself a Graphite 51 plate IS200 SE last week that's just clocked over to 52K miles.

Its in great condition minus the usual alloy bubbling and a few minor marks and chips. I've already been in touch with Lexus in Poole about getting some touch up paint. I'm going to keep it as original as I can except for the alpine head unit that I've already had fitted and maybe some iridium plugs. I had a set of those iridium's in the old focus which made the engine sound less rough.

I'm really enjoying the ride so far and find it quite easy to drive considering I only passed 18 months ago, not a bad 2nd car I hope you'll agree.

Hi and Welcome :)

Not too far from me either. We go to Weymouth a lot in the summer.

Oh and by the way your car will already have iridium plugs fitted as standard. It needs iridium plugs. Can't hurt to change them tho. Their due to be changed every 60k :)

Hi and welcome to the LOC! Lovely looking car, many congratulations. My second car was an old Mini! Mind you, I've had a few good ones in-between now and then. But my LS is the quietest, most comfortable and refined car I've ever had.

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

Nice to see there are still some nice low mileage examples out there, was it also one previous owner?

Andy (ACLex) the LOC parts guy is the manager at Lexus Poole, very helpful and has helped me out several times.

I have to say that whilst I'm certain this member checked the cars history & not wanting to be a wet blanket I would at 1st be a bit concerned by a Lexus with such a low mileage These just aren't low mileage motors they tend to get driven a lot

Very true, there must be some genuine low milers still out there although as you say careful checking is required, all previous MOTs are a good confirmation as is checking the MOT history.Service books can be bought and stamped but again checking at Lexus is possible but not unless the car is registered in your own name so a little late by then.

Mine was an import at 12 years old with a certified 62,000 KMs on the clock so around 38,000 miles.

Slight correction Steve Lexus WILL give you the history verbally. What some dealers won't do is give you a print out as these reveal the name of the customer. I suggested they could redact the name they didn't understand what I meant so had to explain that they could use a black ink marker & cover the customers name. They still argued they HAD to comply with the DPA 1998 & I pointed out that in cases such as this the DPA does NOT apply. Just by giving someones name does not mean you are breaching the DPA.

I despair at the jobsworths who quote the DPA as an excuse for NOT doing their jobs I really do :msn-cry:

Hi guys thank you for the warm welcome.

My IS has had a full service history looking at the log it shows official lexus stamps as far as 30k miles, then another garage takes up the rest of the log.

I paid £3400 for mine including delivery ( I did travel to view it first ;) ) , 6 months tax and 12 month MOT. It would appear the first owner only had it a couple of years then the 2nd owner had it until he traded it in at the place I bought it in Devon. It is in very good condition minus some small chips, as said I'm off to Lexus Poole in the next couple of days to pick up some touch up paint. I think it was Andy who I spoke to on the phone he was very helpful.

Good to hear its got iridium’s as standard, looks like I got a bit of saving up to do as the belts will need changing at 60k too.

I have had a good chance to get used to driving it now. I feel like I am finally at one with the clutch, its taken me this good time to get out of the ford focus habits. I did have a couple of niggles like gator squeak but just looking around these forums I found all the info I needed to sort them myself.

We have had a bit of snow down here in Weymouth and the IS has handled it quite well to be honest I just drove carefully and slow and the snow mode seemed to do the rest. A heavier snow situation might be a different story but we've been able to keep mobile for the time being.
