  1. I've got the same CT200 Sport but in all white but I do like the black roof as well, it really stands out.

  3. By the way John, make sure you get 4 wheel alignment done afterwards and then every 12/18 months (keeping an eye on wear signs) or so after. Yes, it costs a bit £70 ish but its worth it for the price of the tyres you've forked out for. You'll find the car feels much more 'planted' on the road and drives so much better ... at least, that's what I found. I've just had all 4 refurbed and then 4 wheel aligned. Lexus just cannot make wheels .. mine were starting to blister and peel quite badly on the spokes. They now look super. Dreading the first time I touch a kerb.

  4. Tyres are what keep us on the road. So buy what you are happy with and can afford. And to say they are wasted is utter rubbish.

  6. Hi Joseph and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch so please dont hold back asking questions big or small should you have any problems with your car. We always welcome ideas on how to overcome problems with our cars but as they are the finest cars in the universe they dont go wrong that often. We always love to see pictures of your cars so don't be shy. Happy Lexus Motoring. Mike. Bluesman.

  7. Welcome Joseph. Sounds like you've got yourself a nice motor there. I had the 250 before my current 300h, I was always well pleased with it.

  9. Hi Andrew. There seems to be a lot of "inspect" in some of the service schedules I've seen. In others, they recommend transmission and differential changes every 30,000 kilometres or 2 years; if that were the case I'd be changing both every 11 months! A USA schedule recommends these short intervals if used for towing, but otherwise doesn't seem to mention it. So, yes I'm confused as well! When my old girl went to Lexus (ouch) at 100,000 miles I asked for a transmission change and they said "...it had probably never been done..." before they had even got it on the ramps, so I guess as you suspect with yours, it's not a routine item other than "inspect". Seems like a good time to do it. At 150k, I got my local friendly mechanic to change it again, and the differential oil at the same time. Both are quite easy DIY jobs but nowadays I prefer him to do it for me(for many reasons). I think I'm right in saying all IS300 sold in the UK have an limited slip differential, so need a differential oil with an LSD additive. 100k again is probably a good time to do it, should see you right for the next 100k! Don't know about Terraclean, but I think that is more beneficial to direct injection engines isn't it? As for the blanking plate, I will have to take the lid off mine and have a look. There is a video on YouTube of a bloke removing the throttle body on an IS and cleaning it. Lots of pipes to keep track of if you do. While you have it off the car, may be opportune time to change the plugs as well, as they are recommended for replacement at 100k. Do you have the workshop manual for the IS?

  10. I have just bought the Asymmetric 3 all round. Not done lots of miles as of yet. Super quiet and very grippy brilliant in the wet. I nearly bought the efficent grip, as rated very highly.

  11. Was a passenger in a fairly old Citroen Picasso recently. Glided over potholes and ridges in the road as if they weren't there, put my RX to shame. Also didn't have any rattles at all, not something that could be said of most of the RXs that I've been in!

  12. That's exactly what I thought as soon as I left the dealership! I asked the service manager what would happen if I could produce an engineer's report stating that there was no evidence of previous accident damage, and he replied that he would forward that to Lexus who would then arrange for their own inspection. But now I'm thinking why should I have to spend my own money to prove a negative? Really annoyed that they couldn't even be bothered to measure the paint depth for example to get some objective evidence of this supposed accident damage repair. Will probably phone the Lexus helpline and suggest they arrange for an inspection (at a different dealer) if they want to turn down the warranty repair.

  14. They are on :-) Not actually driven it yet though as my mate picked it up, fitted said tyres and returned it. Tyres were a day late in arriving so a further £50 off. £550 all 4 fitted :-)

  15. Just an idea and one designed to satisfy all parties... I've seen on other forums that they have a sticky thread in each model section listing the recalls. A mod maintains the original post, adding recall details to it when they are announced and then members can tack on posts about any of the recalls whenever someone has something to ask/say. That way you don't get multiple topics on the same thing and yet people can find it without resorting to the search function which can be a bit hit or miss.

  16. Changing headlamp bulbs is a DIY job, albeit quite fiddly. Some parts need to be removed or pushed out of the way (airbox, washer bottle filler neck) to enable better access, but it's something you could do yourself with some basic tools. Changing the indicator bulbs is a different matter though - the bumper has to come off for that.

  17. Crowtree, This is one of the areas in which I think Lexus have fallen short compared to e.g. Mercedes. Other than a 3rd party product (do you have more info available on the options, ColinB ?) all one can do is to fold the mirrors, turn the key to "off" and then press the mirror button again: at least this ensures that the mirrors open up when you next start the car. However,it's difficult to find the button - and the others in the same area - in the dark and I've been wondering if anyone has located a suitable substance that can be applied to the buttons to make them luminous. Another area in which Lexus can't match Mercedes - I have a CLS 320 CDI - is in the quality of the Cruise control. Not only does the CC stalk rotate with the wheel - which makes it difficult to locate when turning - but the speed does not remain at that selected when travelling downhill, unlike the Merc Finally, there does not appear to be a manual method of closing the Moonroof in case of failure of its normal electrical system. Again, my Mercedes comes with a metal winder for the purpose. I'd be interested in others' views and in particular what aftermarket products can help to improve the overall 400h experience.
