  1. HI all, I have now ordered 4 Nexens which should arrive by the end of the week and having them fitted and balanced with front and rear wheel alignment. Hopefully that will sort out the vibration and drumming noise from the rear.

  2. Apparently it's a TSB for the problem see if this helps http://workshop-manuals.com/lexus/rx_350_fwd/v6-3.5l_(2gr-fe)/body_and_frame/bumper/rear_bumper/rear_bumper_cover/fascia/system_information/technical_service_bulletins/by_symptom_for_rear_bumper_cover/fascia/sb0039-10/jun/10/body_poor_rear_bumper_cover_fit/page_11712/

  3. I needed the ramp to get under the car to get good leverage as I could not remove it while it was sat on the ground. It worked on mine. My local garage put it on his ramp but he let me take it off, I guess that was in case he broke it. A bit of heat carefully applied may help (I stress a bit of heat as its a cast aluminium housing) but you will need to take off a few plastic panels under the car to do that. The housing flap hole is not really that big to get a lot of tools into.

  4. Did mine some time ago,and every bolt/nut came undone although it all got a good soaking of penetrating oil the night before. The sensor wires are just long enough to allow the pipes to drop down to weld the tops of the new pipe insert. 4 6mm plates were cut an shaped and welded to there appropriate positions, then a slight smear of exhaust assembly paste (as its now a face to face fit) All is well after many thousand miles now :)

  5. There is a post on here from someone who had this exact problem - I am pretty sure he bought a new housing just in case it cracked - cant remember the exact topic. Will have a look. I do my oil changes on a 6 month basis (or thereabouts) and put the cap on just over hand tight as the first time I changed the oil on the car I needed to get it on a ramp with a lot of force to get it loose ... the last service on the car for the oil change before I bought it was by Lexus.

  6. Could try it with heat proof gloves but then you wouldn't know if it's hot would you? LolI know a guy who tried feeling the heat from a stuck caliper on his cheek. Got his face stuck to the wheel and a permanent Audi logo on his face lmao

  7. A bit more info m8 ... > https://www.hpicheck.com/glossary.html#_Exports "If a vehicle is exported out of the UK and then is subsequently imported back in, the record of the export is removed from the vehicle's history by the DVLA. Therefore the HPI Check is unable to provide information on a vehicle's previous export status, once it becomes a UK registered vehicle again. HPI is also unable to provide any information about the vehicles history whilst it was registered and used abroad."

  9. My shogun had 265/70/15 bridgestone Duelers (factory) & it was extremely quiet so I found the tyre noise on the Rx 400 really disturbing... I thought it was because the shogun was higher off the ground but after changing tyres to the same size Nexen's I have now found its the potenza's rather than vehicle height or tyre size etc ...

  12. Had a young lad in a Seat Leon let me pass on the motor way and then tail me for a couple of miles even when I pulled into the slow lane to exit the motorway. He seemed to be having a proper look at my car. First time this has happened to me on the roads.

  13. Had my aircon re-gassed a couple of weeks ago, loud 'hisssssssing' noise from the rear. Top Bloke doing the job instantly said, 'rear pipes gone, I'll cap off the front'. He did the job and re-gassed, lovely and cold inside now.

  14. Make sure you get the old inverter from them, don't let them chuck it away or "send it back to Lexus". It's your property, not theirs. I'd be opening it up to see what's failed. There are many sad tales of Mercedes garages telling customers that their gearbox ECU, filled with spilled ATF, is dead and needs replacing at a cost of thousands. And yet, cleaning the ATF off with solvent miraculously fixes the ECU. I don't see what could possibly be in that inverter that can't be replaced or repaired by someone with basic electronic fault-finding skills - like a car ECU repair shop.

  16. i have noticed more tyre noise on my 350 than i had on my old model rx300,this is to be expected as they are bigger lower profile tyres.they are all matching bridgestone potenza, always had pirellis which i think do run quieter.

  17. Use the back of your hand mate, Are the back of your hands fire retardant ? ... lol Nope lol! But im assuming you wouldnt try and touch the wheels while the brakes are glowing red! However, the back of your hand is less sensitive to heat compared to the fingers and palm. In other words, if you're in a house fire and want to check if the fire is behind your door, you'd use the back of your hand as your palm would stick to the door and remove the skin :O

  18. hi every body, I seem to have solved the problem regards wind noise from drivers door. Had a good check of all doors and found a small spongy rubber just above the black strip on the inside of front door . this seems to be fastened with litle [pimples] about evey 3inchs ,this was hanging down in the middle ,fixed by double sided tape, back in place. this has cured wind noise, back to peace&quiet and all seems ok thak you all for the tips ,polish

  20. Hi! Is there no way to extend the warranty with Lexus in such a way that is covered? Does sound very odd that the pipe fractured, usually if a pipe is run somewhere vibration is an issue, it is insulated at the bracket or with flexible sections. See if you can get the part number of the pipe from Lex- it's usually 10digits long. If it ends with a "1" or higher, then that part was redesigned by them to fix known/reported issues! The Non-hybrid RX's had exactly this issue with the automatic gearbox cooler pipes, where due to improper insulation, the pipes would fracture and corrode. The newer revision part came with new fixing bolts and anti-vibration rubber grommets/washers! Sneaky but true!!

  24. Agreed. In my opinion the IS series is just not Lexus enough. They should've stuck with the top range cars! An IS would look more in place with a Toyota badge. Now that just sounds a little snobby to me!. My Lexus hasnt got a badge, i took it to off. To me its a car not a status symbol. I also removed, what has now become the boy racer style Lexus chrome lights. As mentioned before i have driven everything from Reliant Robin to Bently Continental, from MK1 RS2000 escort to ferrari 355. A car is a car its a way to get about for me nothing more. To me the Lexus is a educated choice resonable style good comfort great reliablity resonable purchase price. Whats the LS got that the IS doesnt have?? cruise control?? cant think of anything else. Must admit mines had a few bits added that like full closure windows and mirrors, just press the lock button and everything closes and winds in. Its got touch screen tv dvd sat nav reverse camera. so i dont see the spec up grade as anything special really from the IS to the LS. The point of my post was to see if a v8 LS is a cheap to run as an IS afterall who wouldnt have a v8 instead of a straight 6.
