  1. Had "Lichelle" detailed today before her trip to the Ring on Friday. Hopefully there will be nothing to "polish out" before, during or after the trip apart from the driver and passenger seats ;-)

  2. Diesel is the spawn of the devil, and from my experience the best technology for destroying the atmosphere, as well as the actual engine itself. What you save by not having to keep tinkering with a LS more than makes up for the money spent keeping a diesel together. Good to hear the government are looking at removing diesels, and heaven help anyone who has a DPF that is cleaned by a fuel wash into the sump (what a crazy idea that is - Mazda, and no doubt others). The LS is a lean burn 4 litre petrol and long may it help save the planet.

  3. Just to let you know, Broadspeed are still advertising the IS200t Sport for £23860 + options

  4. Its a gasless welder - can only use it via mains electric. I am using fluxcored 0.9mm fed wire - works for what I am doing. Found pushing the weld along is the easiest way for me after I figured out the feed of the wire. Got the mask and struck it a few times with the shield up while getting used to it but its a learning curve.

  5. Whatever you do, using both has to be done, as no car (not even an LS) likes to be left standing. A supercharged version would be interesting though!

  6. Oi! fish tanks are seriously business! Congrats on the baby I do agree with Bob on the idea of another car though. I am sure you can use the IS to get away when it all gets too much

  7. For what were originally sort-of-sensible reasons, I've got two LS400s. Both Mk4s, with 110-120,000 miles and recent cambelt/WP/etc work. I bought one as a Plan B should the first one failed its MOT just before a big European road trip. It didn't, and its mechanical condition was much admired by the MOT tester, so Plan A is working out just fine. So it would be very sensible to sell the second one, you'd think. But somehow, I can't - it's too good to sell. Stupid, as I can't drive both and the Other Half doesn't drive at all. I'm just working out if I'm daft enough to do a manual conversion and perhaps a supercharger to one to make it a bit more fun... That's how bad this bl**dy addiction is. :-/

  8. Back on topic then (fish tanks? pah! :) Seriously though, I hope you find a way to keep the IS-F especially after all the hard work you've put in. Congrats on the Baby front although your life will never be the same again.

  9. Yes: While the car was in for its MOT late last week, I asked the dealer to look into it and they did some research internally. They have put forward a warranty claim and which is now waiting for approval. I should know more later in the week.

  10. So far I'm in up to about £800, the exhaust proving to be the largest expense so far. A quick run down of the costs for all items. Turbo & lines £185 Turbo oil lubrication system £109 Complete exhaust including electric cut out £447 Boost piping kit including intake system £203 fuelling including pump & regulator £123 engine service parts £137 Electrical, wideband kit, gauges etc £188 Transmission including oil cooler and oil flush £104 Miscellaneous, hose clips, welding gas etc £50 Total £1437 or there abouts, this will go up I'd imagine. I've not factored in dyno runs before and after or more spending on pipework but that's basically it there. Ive another early 1uz in the shop that's been rebuilt and being a 1990 engine it has the larger rods able to take much more power than the post 1995 engine.

  11. Though safety aspects are debatable, I'm more concerned with looks and symmetry, when i see other cars (makes) with twin reverse or fog lights, they look more complete and not as though there's a broken bulb. in addition with reverse lights i have mentioned in other threads that twin reverse lights gives some sort of light to absolute darkness when reversing, with current one it is extra care needed when reversing in dark amongst other cars/obstacles....

  12. Yes, stick with it. There's no comparison (except in style, maybe?) He said, owning a Citroen XM Exclusive!

  13. Whatever you do, don't venture to the dark side which is diesel ownership. Since I got my mk4 LS400 back in May I cannot think of another car I'd rather have. I can't really think of a way to make it any better, it really is absolutely unbelievably good. When I do eventually change it'll probably be a facelift LS430.

  15. Coincidence here , Its a long story and not to go into it here but 30+ years ago I also was an electronic engineer (onc, apprenticed at Plessy) but got out of that rat race, and followed my real love timber, I changed into a carpenter and never looked back and am still working at it (under my own terms) self employed at 72. But I can still remember how to use a multimeter.

  16. The other symptom of air collecting in the matrix is intermittent loss of heating into the cabin. Right now, you're probably not trying to get much heat into the cabin, so you may not have noticed, but as Winter approaches, you might find this.

  17. Yes, the white f sport is the mrs's. Nope the windows aren't tinted on that either, you'd be forgiven for thinking they are because she never cleans the damn thing. I think that's a good idea to go a shade lighter on the rear window than the sides. Either way, looking at your photos it really does make it look nice.

  18. Had to be done... edit: added a sneaky short vid just because well, I started the thread so I can mess it up. Handle well on the limit these motors.
