  1. Update: I sent a claim by email directly to the warranty company on Monday 3rd October, I have yet to receive even an acknowledgement. I said other LOC members have had shock absorbers replaced under warranty and one claim in particular was very similar to mine. (Thanks Paul.) I also argued that as soon as the oil seal starts to leak - misting - the shock absorber has failed. It may take some time (days/weeks) for the oil to leak out completely and render the shock absorber totally useless but it has failed. As others have said where is peace of mind in all this? I will contact Lexus customer Services next week if I have heard nothing. John

  2. Continuing from a previous post about removing rear badges, here's a warning. I started doing mine today, starting with the LS letters. I heated it up and just peeled the corner away to find that they are held in place with pegs! So unless you want to fill in the holes and have a respray you may want to think again. Fortunately mine re-stuck when it cooled down. That was close!

  3. Is the sat nav an SD card one? If so turn everything off, take it out, clean the contacts and put it back in, turn everything back on and hope .........

  4. Try a local search for independant lexus specialist near your. If the have the software for obd2 their hourly rate will be cheaper than lexus. last resort pay lexus for 1hour. It will take 5mins to scan the obd2 system for faults and there may be a simple fix.

  5. Thanks very much Steve, could always give them a call but I guess it could be difficult for them to estimate the cost. Have read a bit about using an obd2 adapted but just wasn't sure if it would be able tell me what I need to know, unless it finds an error code but I really don't know much about using that software and kit. Thanks very much Colin, I've still to do that. I would love it to be that but I have a feeling that it not going be a fuse as looking at the fuse diagram the fuse that does the sat nav, audio also does he overhead controls which I assume are the interior lights, etc and they're working fine. Will defo check though. Could be lucky. Just a shame as from searching on the web it seems pretty rare and the CTs tend to be really reliable. Just my luck to get something like this. May need to take up singing lessons to improve my attempts at passing the time on my daily commutes

  7. I can't really help. Mine had 1800 miles on it and was 10 months old on collection, although it was given a first year service - oil change etc. Just don't drive it like you stole it

  8. You could ring your dealer and ask how much an hours labour to investigate is or look into the carista app / obd2 adaptor. That may bring up a fault code to investigate. Anyone on here with one who could advise if carista would cover this kind of issue?

  10. John, Driving like the vicars wife should see the pads last a lifetime. I had new ones fitted 40,000 miles ago, and they are still only 30% worn, and every day I have to descend a 600foot (1in 7) hill and probably drive more like the vicars wife when she is late for the ladies lunch, so I am surprised they have not worn down a lot more. As to a Range Rover 4.6, lovely cars expect when they go wrong, which from my bosses experience is reasonably often. Mind you nice and high up, and as quite as LS (maybe more so on rough road surfaces).

  11. Ive read this on the net, pads easily last over 100,000k and can easily last the lifetime of the vehicle. Nice benefit!

  15. I had an e mail from the dealer today that its online only for the IS200t ..(.an IS300h one turned up when they attempted to get one.) This was the e mail from Lexus.....I presumed the last sentence meant they were available but seemingly not ! Thank you for your email regarding your Lexus IS200t. As part of Lexus’ commitment to improving the environment, we’ve moved our owner’s manuals online. You can easily access and download the relevant owner or navigation manual for your vehicle by clicking here and signing up to a My Lexus Portal account: http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/your-lexus/#MyLexusCustomerPortal It may be that you can obtain a hard copy of your vehicle's owner's manual by ordering one through your local Lexus Centre, but this will come at a cost to yourself. You will need to contact them directly to discuss ordering a manual for your vehicle.

  17. I asked about shock absorbers at the trade motor parts dealer I use this am while buying timing belt kit for my Rx400h. Left and right are available for trade, £96 each inc. vat. I believe they are KYB make. This might be of interest to any one in need.

  18. From my personal experiences dealing with Lexus Edgware, I can say that they are very good. I had some issues with my car, and they sorted them out brilliantly. The two service guy, Leo and Louis, were very helpful and friendly.

  19. It depends on how much you trust your independent, do they work regularly on Lexus cars, do they have a good reputation, how does the cost compare to Lexus themselves. Have a look at the link below which gives details of fixed price servicing on Lexus with higher discounts for older models, it may work out cheaper than you think. Also consider becoming a gold LOC member which gives additional discounts at some dealers including I think Edgeware. http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/#Introduction
