  3. Will shortly be joining this section of the LOC as I am scheduled to take delivery of a RX450h+ Premium Plus with panoramic roof next week. Currently have a 2022 NX450h+ Premium Plus with sunroof which in turn replaced a NX300h Luxury with panoramic roof. Have gone for Sonic Platinum with Ammonite Sand interior. Didn't particularly set out to go for the RX450h as I was actually considering a NX450h+ F-sport for the second half of this year, however I sat in an RX450h + in the showroom, was given a test drive and I was smitten! Look forward to future conversations and will post some pics!

  6. Yup I was looking at that one. I spoke to them, and the reason they jacked the price up is because they did the timing belt and water pump. Nice colour and reg number on it though. I tried to buy that grey 2008 model in Bristol that was only £8995 but just missed out on it. I also put a bid of £6750 in for this 2005 facelift but it ended up going for £7870: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335298335258 . It's getting serviced by Lexus Croydon next week and I'll be picking it up the week after. It is on the mileage high side (167,000) but a facelift model for less than 6 grand was too good to pass. So long as it's been looked after (16 Lexus service stamps) I can't see why this car won't do another 167,000 miles. Elite Motor Company are a Lexus specialist and so I think I'm in good hands.

  10. Sounds nice and sunny around Preston. Here we get rain about 95% of the time. The other 5% is usually snow or hail. I think we had a sunny day around the 15th July 2014.

  11. Yes it does take time for everything to appear. I picked up my new RX this week, dealer had registered everything in readiness but first two journeys in the car haven't been recorded. All OK since.

  13. For sale is my 2017 Lexus LC500 V8. The car is immaculately presented throughout with Full Lexus Service History - the last service which was a major service was in 08/2023 at Lexus Leeds. Well equipped by default - heated and cooled full leather seats, heated steering, lane keeping, radar cruise etc - the car was also spec'd with HUD. 2 Previous Owners I purchased the car 2 years ago with 28967 miles in 2021 and car has been my 2nd car - garaged and maintained obsessively - paintwork is excellent - there are some stone chips on the front less than 1mm and only one other chip which measures 4mm but paintwork is excellent - touchless washed when possible, DI rinsed - has been waxed twice with Fusso Wax 99 and topped up every few months - only run on Shell 99 Octane. Alloys are in excellent condition - no scuffs or marks. Registered on 01/09/2017. Low mileage at 32500. Lexus Relax Warranty until 1/9/2027 - so 3.5years. Very Low Tax - about £15 per month. Car will have nearly full 12mth MOT and if serviced at Lexus Leeds next service - it will be a minor - included FOC. All Bridgestone Turanza tyres - these are the OEM tyre specification - are measured at approximately 4.5 to 5mm all round. The car has a professional rear window tint - just personal preference and can be removed.   14. True enough, they are not off roaders. You’ll get people saying it’s a waste of time but it isn’t because it’s dialled in to the stability control so it will handle better. It’ll behave better in the wet too.

Having had a QV a couple of years ago, it's certainly more of an engaging car when driven hard, but unfortunately when driven hard, you will find yourself doing license losing speeds far too easily. When driven at legal speeds, I didn't find it that much of a thrill. The LC is more of an event, and sounds nicer; it just wouldn't see which way a QV went in most situations, so if that would bother you, then go with the QV. The other factor to consider is reliability; I had no issues with my QV, but many owners have had issues (mainly electrical), and the customer care is poor. The Lexus warranty and service will be far, far superior, giving peace of mind.

  17. Did your NX leave the factory before October 2021? According to Lexus, NX cars from October 2021 have a new security platform which they say means they can't be stolen via the CAN Bus method.

  18. Technically your car is still below the average and good on you for not being afraid of a few miles. The American and Australia example do 250k with drama, it’s just underside corrosion that can be an issue in the UK. lexus with do a safety check as well, so will tell you anything they find. Just don’t rush into any advisory work straight away 👍🏻👍🏻

  20. I am not wanting to replace the battery as I have only just taken delivery of the NX this week, therefore the battery is brand new. I was just curious as to the type of battery it is, but you have answered my question 🙂 I am so used to putting my Prius battery on my smart charger when I go on holiday, so I wanted to do the same as I know how quickly the 12v can discharge if its not used for a couple of weeks or more. I expect the NX is more likely to drop charge due to it being 'connected' which my Prius wasn't. Thanks

  24. When my car system required me to login every 3 days or so I really regretted my long password. My lexus dealer had no idea how to change the password and strongly advised against using the option to reset to factory state in the settings. Fortunately the system is now working properly.

  25. You can't start most modern cars without the brake light switch working - that's a very easy DIY option. There's also the fuel pump relay if it's not a hybrid. Even the gear selector is electronic - cutting the earth feed to that would stop the car driving.

  26. Wow- that looks horrible! I had my disassembled my mirror in the past and I can't remember it looking that bad. That is what I ten to do as well, just blast around the block after washing the car and park it and walk around one more time... and there are usually some drip around certain places - 1. is at the end of driver door 2. is this one from the mirror 3. is from the boot when you open it drips on rear quarters 4. is from the fuel filler cap. There may be few more on IS. But basically I just walk around and dry what has come out before it could dry and leave water deposits.

  28. Hopefully I won't become the resident GS F spotter (not the worst pastime to be fair!), but another one just popped up at the Cheltenham dealership for anyone interested! An early 2016 model (VX16 WYO) in silver, 64,567 miles and only slightly cheaper than the already reserved blue one at Swindon - £40,991. No pictures yet, but they do look good in silver 🙂

  31. I have not washed a car for about 10 years. I take the car to the local hand wash ( about £8 ) for a quick wash'n'scratch. They have a method of washing the really dirty gritty lower areas and then use the same unwashed/unrinsed cloth on the bonnet and roof and sides. I like the mottled areas where they missed a bit and the contrasting filthy parts of the wheels that never get touched. It seems beyond reason to wash the car too much when you see the state of the underneath areas. I prefer the good old days when the engine gearbox and diff leaked oil everywhere and kept the underneath of the car protected from salt and grime.

  32. There are 2 Trim Options for my Model Choice & one is perforated seat material that will easily allow a vented seat cushion. Back in the day, I paid 0000's to get heated/cool seats but many Members got cooling by connecting to the rear seat ducting. Tel

  34. Jack the car up until the front wheels (wheel if you do one at a time) are off the ground. Rotate the wheel by hand and listen. If the disc has excessive runout you will hear a definite metallic rubbing sound that occurs with the valve stem (or a chalk mark) in the same position each time. If the runout is normal you will only hear a very light continuous rubbing sound, or a light rubbing that is present for most of the wheels rotation. If the runout is severe, the wheel maybe difficult to rotate and after half a rotation it will make a scraping noise and stop as if the brake had been applied lightly. If the runout is in spec then as mentioned above, and you didn't follow the approved "break-in" procedure for new discs and pads, you may have pad material transferred unevenly onto the surface of the disc. You will need to inspect the discs for uneven patches of discoloration. Excess pad material can usually be removed by flat sanding the braking surface, cleaning the disc with a spray-on brake cleaner, and repeating the correct break-in procedure. Post up what you find after inspecting your brakes. Cheers...

  37. Pad material deposited on the discs can cause a brake judder. A couple of hard stops from speed can remove this but depending on driving style and where one drives can cause a build up again. When you say 'new front brakes' what exactly did you change? If you replaced the discs you may have introduced some dirt or rust between the disc and hub mounting face. The smallest amount can cause a very bad judder. The mounting faces must be scrupulously clean. I'd recommend getting a good garage to check over the brakes, if it is that bad a quick test drive by the technician will illustrate the problem.

  39. Any gas when heated at atmospheric pressure becomes lighter than air.. even air can be lighter than air and this is the basis of the hot air balloon. The equation governing this is the equation of state (for ideal gases- that is not very dense gases) This one!

  41. Yes, it will stop a relay attack against a key. If you don't want keyless entry then it is better to just disable the feature in the car, that way you don't have to remember to put the key fob into battery save mode every time - you just need to remember to hold your key against the start button to disengage the immobiliser before you start the engine. There are potentially new attacks against remote locking systems with rolling codes that don't rely on relaying the signal from a key - if this becomes a reality for Toyota/Lexus vehicles then disabling smart unlocking, battery saving functional or faraday pouches won't do anything.

Last year when I took my F in for the recall work I was given an RX as a courtesy car and the dealership had indeed deactivated the keyless entry facility via the fob due to having had one of their RX' stolen whilst a member of staff had it for a weekend. So maybe it's something all lexus vehicles have the ability to do.

  45. Charging at public chargers used to be occasionally free and usually cheaper than petrol. Tesla Superchargers are often still cheaper than petrol but with the rise in electricity prices with the Ukraine war, 20% vat and large amount of capital investment in new chargers its usually around petrol prices to charge away from home. If you can mostly charge at home then its about 10% the price of petrol but for those that can't cheaper fuel is not a draw towards EVs at the moment. Then there's all the ridiculous FUD spread in the media and online from people who are just proving their lack of knowledge. That puts people off too. I keep being told by friends who've never driven an EV and needed to charge one that the infrastruture isn't there yet. It depends on where you are and your usage but I've never had a problem charging away from home.

Tax savings for company cars, and salary sacrifice schemes, means that new EVs are relatively cheap - but with leases typically only being 2 to 3 years in duration means these soon come onto the used car market and private buyers aren't purchasing them at the same rate - hence values have dropped. But having said that the number for sale is not disproportionate. Last year the market share for EVs was 19.7% of all new car sales. Autotrader currently has 18.8% EVs for sale out of all the 2023 cars listed.

  49. I’d say low 50s is easily achievable in summer. You would need to drive very carefully to average in the 60s over multiple drives. Fuel tank isn’t very big but you should be able to get 400 to 450 miles from a tank full. But these thing are very dependent on driving style and the type of journeys you do.
