  1. Not keen on the spam receiving side of things. Possibly an important message at most, or a quick comms with Lexus to analyse any fault codes on my request. Do like the idea of these though: "The system features four different safety and security elements: Automatic Collision Notification (ACN), an Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), Stolen Vehicle Location (SVL), and Roadside Assistance. Using embedded cellular and GPS, it can signal help if there's an airbag deployment or a severe rear-end collision. If the system isn't triggered automatically, the Emergency Assistance Button (SOS) can be used to contact the help centre manually. If the car is stolen it can be tracked. The system also includes Roadside Assistance through the SOS button when the driver needs mechanical assistance."
  2. Yes There are loads of reasons, all of which we have gone over before but I will again for those who can't comprehend there may be a valid reason. We obviously aren't talking about normal conditions generally. (I happen to agree with the annoyance of the buzzer if it forces people to put one on) In my case it is taking certain test measurement readings. Over about a 4 mile site I am in and out of the car. There is no-on else on site, no vehicles and the road does not lend the car to be going over 5 miles per hour. Do you really think putting the seat belt on and off is going to happen? I am more likely to damage my back! As the seat belt buzzer gets loader and more frequent this is a wind up. Also, the comment on the airbags - Yes, some do need them disabled depending on how they are physically. Its not all about people who just don't want these things, some have valid reasons.
  3. Which is why you should always listen for the clunk of your central locking or try the doors..... there is a very common consumer device that distorts the signal so the car ignores it as it thinks it is foreign. I'd go with Aido's suggestions. It happens every now and again. When it becomes common to you, it will be worth looking into.
  4. If you press the lock button on the handle, keep hold. This won't unlock it immediately - just pull it to test. Or, try a rear handle. It would have to be VERY close for the system to allow opening. I would go more for a key being stuck or something. Is he absolutely sure the boot open key couldn't be being pressed? I've done this myself by mistake, depending where I've placed my keys. Maybe something has spilt on the keyfob and the button is faulty? Maybe the keyfob itself is faulty? How about taking the battery out of that one and using the other keyfob? Is there any way he could be knocking the boot open switch just below the dash when they get out or something? I'm sure the alarm doesn't warn you if the boot is open - it still activates as normal in the cab area.
  5. Hello and Welcome. Parthiban has it spot on.
  6. ACT+ and ACT- at the ECU supplies power to the cetral locking motors (On those colours stated by Rob). You could have issues when you reverse the polarity for opening so best bet is for a relay to cut out any backfeed into the ECU. Or, if you are unsure, put a couple of relays across the door switch itself (Which connects to a limited BUS system which is why you aren't getting a solid reading).
  7. Thanks again. I prefer thirty-ten instead of 40. I can still say I'm in my 30's then.
  8. See them coming in live - HERE is the feed. Some are hilarious.
  9. Ok, for the total closure you will need to add this circuit: The part that says "Connect to relay coil of closure unit" will connect to here: If someone could meter the joint and find the +/- I can't quite make it out. It wouldn't be important except there are a couple of diodes across the relay coils to prevent reverse emf into the circuit. The diodes are 1n4148 Have a read of this, there is some more info HERE I have no photo's of the install I'm afraid but a few people have on here so maybe they have some and will post accordingly. Usual disclaimer - it is totally at your own risk. I am showing you only how to do it. If anything untoward happens to the car or you grow another head whilst doing this I deny all responsibility.
  10. Stunning. If you click on it so it opens in youtube itself, then add "&fmt=18" at the end of the url (Without the quotes) it will play it in much higher quality. (This applies to all videos providing the original is decent.)
  11. Do you feel strongly about that Stav?
  12. Yep - that's how they work. I wanted a minimum of standby current so never built the extra circuitry to "wait" for the alarm off signal. It does say it in the very first paragraph: "The mirrors will open again once you switch the ignition on." :P Glad you're still pleased though. If you want them open for washing the car or something but still have the car locked, simply close them by their normal close button. When you set the alarm they will open for you. It's annoying that they still don't retract on the IS250. I'm going to have to look into doing it.
