  1. The more I hear about the TTE S/C the more I conclude that it is very poorly designed.
  2. Is the rattle not just coming from the sunroof retractable cover? That tends to rattle. Can you press on the sunroof whilst driving and it stops the rattle? I know of people in the US who have had the sunroof replaced under warranty because of noise but that would be very costly.
  3. The problem with the article on autosite is it is just a re-write of the Lexus press release but using incorrect information. The actual information that Lexus have released is that it will: not just that it will deliver 27.6 mpg http://www.lexus.com/about/press_releases/...pr_01_06_a.html
  4. There is a guide. Have a look in the knowledgebase under the series II GS: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge...ge=index_v1&c=3 There is also a list of the changes made at the end of 2000. Worth getting a facelift model if possible. Should be able to get one within the budget. The Sat Nav part is basically the same however it has a touch screen so you can enter addresses etc much more quickly. The screen also controls the heating and audio and you get a fuel computer as well. Haven't written the model history yet but basically in 98 the S and SE were available. In 99 the sport came along and the SE got 17" wheels. End of 2000 the model had a face lift and the sport was discontinued. Then the S model was just named the GS300. A year later the GS300 was dropped leaving only the SE until July 2003 when the sport made a comeback.
  5. It's going to be 2 or 3 mpg less than an IS200 auto.
  6. The LF-C is a concept. Some of the design elements will appear on new Lexus models.
  7. make sure they are complete with centre caps.
  8. Worst is engine ECU. Common would be a wiring/connector issue or a problem with the VVT-I control valve.
  9. I don't think any dealers use cheap rubbish. However they have a massive price mark up.
  10. In the owners manual Lexus state what oil is required. It needs to be of a certain standard and several different 'weights' can be used. Basically nearly every oil you can get in the UK is suitable. The dealer should indicate the oil they used on the service sheet. Some dealers state that Lexus insist on full synthetic oil - this is not the case although synthetic oil will provide you with more protection. If you want to use a certain type of oil then supply it yourself.
  11. I wouldn't think the standard throttle body is restricting air flow on the stock engine.
  12. £300 for 4 x 18" tyres - What tyres are you getting?
  13. But they didn't know what a code 39 was did they? Does that tell you something about them?
  14. If you are using stage 1 and 2 you should finish off with the stage 3 wax. Stage 1 may get rid of the swirls but you will need to use ScratchX on the worst areas.
  15. I love those individual throttle bodies. That must be what Rod Millen used on the Hot Rod, one set on each bank of the V8.
  16. Some nice things here: http://www.trdparts.jp/parts_engine-3s-ge.html
  17. I don't think there would be many japanese specialist who would have all the right equipment as Toyota are unlikely to sell them their proper diagnostic equipment. However most places should be able to fault find if they have the workshop manuals/wiring diagrams.
  18. It shouldn't be at all related to engine code 39.
  19. That doesn't sound right. It should work the other way - gets lighter at slower speeds. Maybe the speedo convertor hasn't been fitted correctly?
  20. I think it means ignition needs to be on and it has to detect an open or short for a second or more before the fault code is set. It's not a problem with the VVT signal it's a problem with the OCV+, OCV-, OCV2+ or OCV2- signals which is part of the VVT-i system. It may not be a wiring problem, it's the first thing to check. Could be a problem with a VVT-i solenoid or the engine ECU. This may explain your CO problem and also why your engine doesn't seem to run properly at high rpm.
  21. Code 23 is abnormal refrigerant pressure so you may be low on gas. The other codes are sensor problems - they may have been stored there for some time or maybe you have a fuse gone as I wouldn't expect multiple problems.
  22. This one? http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...topic=13712&hl= or this one? http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...topic=13692&hl=
