  1. Good review, but I never understand why they give the f sport out to journalists. They think it's a sports car, thrash it then say its noisy, bumpy and poor mpg. Much better to give them a premier or advance to try and focus on the comfort side of things. But then I never got the point of the f sport anyway.
  2. Push the wiper stalk up to do a manual wipe when in auto.
  3. Hi, welcome to the forum. Road tax is £10. The electric motor assists the petrol engine and is only used at speeds below about 40 mph. On a full charge you can get about a mile on battery alone at 30 mph. Not sure about the mpg at motorway speeds. It drops off rapidly at high speed at the electric motor is not used and you just have to move a heavy battery in the boot. Also mpg depends on driving style and weather. Having said that I was getting 60 mpg on a roads in the summer. Struggle to get 40 round town in winter. Keep to 70 mph or below and you may get 50 mpg. Ignore the reviews in the car mags and have a test drive. It's a nice place to be if you are traveling a long distance so don't just base a decision on cost alone. Good luck.
  4. It will be interesting to see how the safety kit does. The wife's Jazz has it and often gives a false alarm on the collision detection or speed limit recognition etc. My 2015 model has a new feature. It's paid for! Don't think I will go for the facelift just yet. Would like a plug in hybrid.
  5. It does look rather nice. Good luck keeping it clean.
  6. I usually find the light at the end of the tunnel is a train coming the other way. 🙃
  7. All the cars I have had with auto lights have come on straight away in tunnels and under bridges. The Volvo system seems better as I think it can lead to false headlight flashes if you go under a bridge and the lights come on then go off.
  8. What if your car doesn't have satnav? My son took his test two years ago in a classic mini. No satnav, abs, power steering, or traction control, and it has these strange handles on the doors that if you move them in a circular motion, the windows go up or down. As long as the show me tell me questions are simple and will not distract the driver whilst they think about how to check the oil for example. It's reversing into a parking space they should tech not how to reverse out. It's amazing how many people can't park.
  9. Hi, I have a 65 plate advance that has the standard satnav with rotary controller. It does do postcode entry. It's a picture of a post box and a separate menus from the address. In fact that is the best way to put addresses in as it did not know ikea in Warrington by address alone. It also has a reversing camera and heated/ventilated leather seats. There are a few on auto trader at the £20k mark if your budget will allow. Don't know about the differences in bhp but don't think it will make much difference. They are all the same engine etc. May be some minor tweaks between model years that could affect the bhp by a bit but not anything to notice. Good luck in your search. They are great cars. Paul
  10. Sounds like your order has been bumped down the queue in favour of more expensive models. Perhaps to try and get you to pay more for the leather. Any chance they will give you the leather at no extra cost because of the inconvenience?
  11. Personally I am not a fan of the f sport styling and instrument cluster, but the reversing camera and better sat nav would tempt me to the f sport. Take a test drive in the f sport and see if it feels to bumpy to you. Smart insurance will give you piece of mind from car park knocks.
  12. It will probably come out over time (onto your coat/trousers) I used a more liquid based leather cream on my seats and they seem okay.
  13. I am fortunate at work to have plenty of spaces to choose from. A few of us park in one area of the car park and we always park in alternate spaces thus leaving plenty of room. However the one time I have picked up a scratch in a supermarket I was glad I took the smart insurance out. Repair cost £10 to fix. Worth the peace of mind for me. On another note. In a pay and display car park. If you bought two tickets could you legally park across two spaces?
  14. We went on holiday in the CT with two teenagers and managed but we had to leave the kitchen sink at home. The boot is small in the CT and oddly shaped by the angle of the back window, it is a bit cramped in the back too. Have you considered a Honda Jazz? My wife has a MK3 Jazz and the room in the back of that is stupidly big, bigger than an S class Mercedes! We get about 50mpg. But it's a Honda not a Lexus! Alternatively, get the Lexus which will be fine for 90% of the time and hire a car for when you need more space.
  15. Well, looking after a car has little to do with its warranty status. Why would you deliberately introduce issues to a car that simple maintenance could avoid? Also, what about those people who's cars are no longer in their warranty period? Precisely, so why would main dealers not service the car properly?
  16. May be a bit controversial but does it matter if a main dealer services the car properly or not? If you have the stamps in the book that it has been serviced they will have to honour any warranty claim weather the work was done or not.
  17. I have found Lexus Chester to be good, bought my first Lexus from then and use them for servicing. My current IS I got as an ex demonstrator from Lexus Stoke. However I will never go back to them as I felt ripped off. Not even given a full tank of petrol when I picked it up.
  18. Could the wheels have got damaged when they were taken off and laid on their side, wheel against the concrete garage floor? Sounds plausible. Especially if both sides have been damaged. Very sorry to hear that the people who you entrust with your pride and joy have not looked after it. Hope you can get them to fix it.
  19. Is this a potential design fault? A Lexus mug and flask don't fit in the cup holders!
  20. Does anyone use leather creams to keep the leather supple?
  21. I hadn't particularly noticed the noisy brakes until I read this thread. Maybe they are worse when wet. I try to take my foot off the brake completely when moving in slow traffic then keep it on when stopped.
