  1. Sure I read somewhere the Americans get artificial leather as standard, only genuine leather interiors as an upgrade, or only on the flagship models?
  2. I guess one has to remove the mirror housing and test the connections with a multimeter. I'm new to Lexus but on the Mercedes it was fairly quick and easy (and relatively common...)
  3. Possibly a broken wire in the mirror housing, if they have been folded a lot?
  4. Does the passenger mirror heat up ok? The mirror heaters only come on when the rear screen defogger is switched on (on my RC at least)
  5. Because Ford still hold the patent and have only licenced it out to a very few manufacturers
  6. I had Williams ceramic coat applied to my new RC. It'll be interesting to see how it performs, can't wash the car for a week to allow it to cure completely ..
  7. I'm sure I read in the owner's handbook about using a jug of warm water for clearing the side windows, or was that just to free the glass from the rubber surround? I know many drivers that use warm water to de-ice or defrost their windscreens.
  8. And the glass coat? Surely that now needs to be repaired/reapplied?
  9. Can you explain this? How did he cover that chip without using paint?
  10. From the owner's handbook for my RC ... "Seat heater timer control To enable seat heater timer control, press and hold the driver and front passenger seat heater switches at the same time when the vehicle is stopped until a buzzer sounds once. If a seat heater is turned on while seat heater timer control is enabled, the intensity of the seat heater will automatically change from Hi→Mid→Lo. The timing of the change in seat heater intensity differs depending on the temperature inside the cabin, etc. when the seat heater is operating. To disable seat heater timer control, press and hold the driver and front passenger seat heater switches at the same time until a buzzer sounds twice." I wonder if it's the same for your model? No mention regarding having to switch off before being able to use again though?
  11. Only approx 500 RC licensed on UK roads according to this website https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=✓&q=lexus+rc&commit=Search so, quite exclusive :) Why? Possibly because it's just a two seater with a smallish boot, got to be a niche market? Not likely to be an only car for most? That said there are three of us in my locale...
  12. My Premium Nav has automatically adjusted the time. There are options to set time zone and Daylight Saving
  13. Excellent products for all leather treatments https://www.liquidleather.com/pages/about-us
  14. TWOK (more correctly twoc but generally spelt with the k. More 'street' I guess) means Take Without Owner's Consent
  15. The lock on the RC is only visible on pulling the door handle, it hides behind the handle
  16. Guess it makes more sense for you to take the car to your local dealership, so they can sit in with you and work through the problem. Better than trying to talk you through it over the phone? Agree though, they could have told you what ID195 means!
  17. Your handbook usually lists the options. Generally winter tyres are narrower than standard tyres. Gives a higher load per square inch to give best grip. That said I ran winter tyres of the same specification as the 'summer' tyres t no detriment in performance. The biggest influence on tyre cost is when you choose to by them. Get them during the early summer is normally the cheapest.
  18. I passed mine the year before you and I would agree, up until perhaps 10yrs ago. Seems tyres have become far more season specific in recent years? Certainly I remember driving in some quite heavy snow on 'normal' tyres back in the day without too much trouble (a couple of bags of sand in the boot, maybe! :) ) but now even with the slightest touch of frost progress can be iffy.. Perhaps the compounds now used are less tolerant to lower temperatures?
  19. That's why I said it was ok, not that it was recommended. It is still mentioned in owner's handbook and if one is of a mind to get the greatest mileage from a set... Personally I feel rotating tyres exposes tyres to an initial greater wear rate as tread experiences different forces.
  20. Not on the Lexus (yet) but on my Merc I ran winter tyres and it does make a big difference in grip levels, especially when temps drop and you get a little frost on the roads.
