  1. thanks. I was told by lexus they have some new speed sensitive sensors now which create less false alarms
  2. (adopts huggy bear stance ) "hey ma man, - the word on the street is within 18 months the GS range will be GS 350, GS450h and GS460. you dig?"
  3. You will find that most Lexus dealers will carry a compatible phone that will transfer the whole address book in one go. Just give them your SIM card and they can copy it across for you.
  4. sadly in Britain today there is no such thing as an accident - according to the HSE everything happens for a reason and there must be someone to blame. It is what justifies the expense of an army of HSE jobsworths. Take the advert where "someone was given the wrong type of ladder", fell off and sued for compensation. When common sense prevailed the respone would have been "if you are too stupid to blindly accept a ladder not fit for the job then you deserve to fall off it you gimp". Nowadays it would have been somebody's fault that they hadn't provided a ladder identification course for the tagnut who subsequently fell off.
  5. Just wondering has anyone had 4 front parking sensors fitted to an RX? I know that Lexus will fit rear ones but front ones too?
  6. Haven't seen this video so apologies if it has been covered but I heard some comments from a demolitions expert who said when the towers came down it looked exactly like a controlled demolition. Scary thought.
  7. As the owner of a GS430 I can but dream of 490 miles on a tank. I use a gallon just reversing off my driveway. :D
  8. the depreciation of the GS430 isn't so much steep as effing vertical mate :) Be interesting to see what your CLS is worth at 3 years though.
  9. Electronic Stability program kicked in when you swerved??
  10. Sorry to pee on your chips but since we signed up to the Human Rights Act in 1998 there is nowt we can do to easily get rid of failed asylum seekers/illegal immigrants. The system is weighted in their favour and they can appeal at every step. I have no problem at all with mass immigration (it has always existed) but I do despair at the uncontrolled immigration into this country. All these people are not hard working angels, there are plenty bad ones in there. And good or bad, they all need housing, cars, road space, eductaion, healthcare etc etc etc. So we should have a new slogan "We are not racist just bloody full!" ANY party that puts a stop to it gets my vote.
  11. They're not actually that expensive, which is the best part.... CLS 320 CDI - £43,275 CLS 350 - £43,440 CLS 500 - £53,240 CLS 63 AMG - £72,995 not actually that expensive until you add leather, cd autochanger, sunroof, sat nav, parking sensors, voice control, folding mirrors etc etc etc..... the CLS 320CDI becomes a 55K car very quickly.
  12. less rattles on X-type than on some Lexus models though??
  13. Sweet looking car - I seriously considered one but was worried about the MB customer service - at least when my GS rattles Lexus are first class :) So what is CLS like to live with?
  14. I'm from Durham (my logo probably gives it away :) ) but based in Berkshire now.
  15. Not sure if this is relevant but I have GS and I believe it has heat reflective windcsreen. My RoadAngel 2 works without any problems or need for external aerial.
  16. new GS rattles like a bugger too - trust me!!
  17. The thing that pees me off is that I can't understand how anyone could fork out, for example. 60 grand on a Range Rover etc and then not spend an extra 150 quid on a handsfree???
  18. if you want to see what real depreciation is check out the GS forum!! New GS 430s are losing > 17K in 9 months - ouch!! And you were worried about your IS :) Vertical Depreciation
  19. or bung a load of Febreze through the airvents with AC set to full and non-recirculate. 5 or 6 squirts gets rid of smell.
  20. I had a BMW 330i that used to p*ss water out of aircon in very hot weather - used to get a puddle a couple of feet across some days so yours just sounds like very good AC working hard on a hot day.
  21. my 2p worth - having driven a couple of IS220Ds (non sport) my main impression was the gearing was all wrong. The ratios were much too high meaning all roundabouts and tight corners had to be taken in 1st gear else no power available and unable to use 6th gear at 70 mph for the same reason. I also found the clutch heavy and 2nd gear very notchy the turbo lag was awful. as has been said horses for courses but the auto in the 250 was excellent so that would be my choice.
  22. If you get one set aside at least 2K a year to keep it running and to recover it when it breaks down. Italian exotics cost a fortune to run.
  23. EON = enhanced other networks which offers the ability for local stations to 'break into' a national station's broadcast for the duration of a Traffic Announcement. Can't remember how you switch it on but it's in teh manual. Switching this on sorted the problem for me. The official definition is : "Enhanced Other Networks (EON) Most RDS tuners are now fitted with the EON facility, which offers the ability for local stations to 'break into' a national station's broadcast for the duration of a Traffic Announcement. When listening to a BBC national station, such as BBC Radio 3, EON will tell the radio about any traffic bulletins being broadcast by BBC stations in the local area. The radio would switch to the local BBC radio station for the travel bulletin, then back to the national station when the bulletin had finished. For example, when travelling through Oxford whilst BBC Radio 2 is tuned-in, the radio will switch to BBC Radio Oxford for any travel bulletins, with the TA function switched on. This feature is not usually implemented on commercial radio stations, such as Classic FM. While a proportion of the RDS datastream is used to provide programme and contact information for Classic FM, a small amount is classed as an "Additional Services Licence". This spare capacity on the RDS is used by Itis Holdings to provide a RDS-TMC (Radio Data System-Traffic Message Channel) service, using Classic FM's RDS. Cars fitted with the necessary electronics are able to decode this information and it is used to provide navigational and traffic information."
  24. This works on mine - goto AUDIO and switch to FM channel. Then switch on EON.
  25. There is a switch under the dash I think which controls smart key functions. Check to see if it has been kicked by accident as it happened to mine and it switched off the buttons on doors.
