Hello all who this reaches I hope you’re having a great day. I’ve got a 1996 LS400, (the 08/95-08/96 one) and low and behold the ECU failed.. bad. Capacitor leak and subsequent corrosion of course. no company I have found will repair the corroded track as they all can’t guarantee for warranty. I’d give it a go but only if I knew it was the last resort and there was no other option. Finding a second hand one with the correct part number (89661-50310,89661-50351) has so far eluded me. I’ve spent months trying to find one and sending it to various places to get fixed to no avail. Could anyone point me in the correct direction of someone who will either fix trace corrosion or if anyone knows where I can acquire one of these used ECUs I would really appreciate it! Spent weeks calling around breakers and only so far found an immobilised unit from 08/96-11/96 (89661-50350). My final resort would be to bite the bullet and order a new part from Amayama as my patience is beginning to run. Much appreciated all!

This whining noise has only started since I installed a new tensioner a few days ago, but after taking off the belt which puts the auxiliaries out of action the sound still persists. Listening closely to the noise it appears to come from the crank pulley? / surrounding area so hard to tell really. I had installed a new water pump, cambelt and idlers last year so it shouldn't be that although I did not replace the hydro tensioner (could it have lost a bit of tension causing the noise?), checked the valve body and filter but that was clean as can be with no crud or gunk, although the fluid was brownish/red. All fluids, PS, Coolant, engine oil, ATF etc are all topped up. Not really sure what it could be, any advice/help greatly appreciated. VID_20221106_152327.mp4

Does anyone know where the alarm siren location is for a 2000 LS400, my alarm keeps going off randomly, I've read the radar under the centre console can trigger if metallic objects are in the arm rest, I've removed literally everything and it still goes off, I even turned down the knob 'minus' as far as it goes and even removed it and it still went off by itself. So my next step is to just disconnect the sirens, any help much appreciated.

I've had my 2014 IS300h F-Sport which I bought on 37k miles for 2 years. From 3 weeks into ownership I noticed a squealing/squeaking at low speeds and when braking. Its quite noticeable even when windows are up. As the car was in warranty I took it to my local Lexus dealership. They said that it needed new pads and discs (almost £600). these were changed at the cost of the Lexus I bought the car from as my local dealership said it wouldn't pass MOT as it was. Not long after (within a week) heard the noise again. I too the car back again when my service was due and mentioned it was still happening. They checked at service and said nothing visually wrong so couldn't do anything about it but it had been checked. Plus they said they couldn't hear anything. The noise persisted and I took it back again. This time the guy who deals with me said he'd see if there was anywhere they could grease (as someone had suggested this to me when I posted the issue in here). Again they couldn't hear anything. They gave the car back but again the noise re-appeared. Gradually it feel like the noise was getting worse. Louder and more persistent (as sometimes you don't hear it). It also seems to be more apparent after a left turn and when coming to a full stop but not immediately after starting to drive, but after 10-15 minutes when things warm up. Also seems worse in summer. I contacted Toyota customer services as I am really at my wits end with this after almost 2 years of loud squealing/squeaking EVERY time the car is driven. As it was during our last lockdown they said as soon as able take it back to the dealership and they will have a look at it. I took it in this week as my service was also due and as I drove into the car park there it was loud and clear. Unluckily for me there was nobody there to hear it. I then asked the rep I was seeing to stand in the car park and listen. Moved the car back and forth no sound. Applied the brake no sound. So I asked him to wait while I went around the block to 'warm it up'. When I returned the sound was there again but he had gone inside as they were busy! I got him back out and asked him to go around with me - masks on windows wide open. We drove around the block in perfect silence - no noise AT ALL! I was so frustrated until we finally turned into the car park and there it was loud as ever before I even applied the brake and squealing even more as it came to a stop. He said "ooh that doesn't sound right". Finally! I told him I've had to put up with that for 2 years, every day. Even my wife is irritated by it and she doesn't get irritated, she married me! They had the car from Monday to Friday and changed the passenger side caliper. But apparently, this reduced the noise only so they changed the other one too. I paid for the extended warranty so this went through that. My wife picked up the car on Friday as I was unwell and they said to her the problem should be solved. After having it back 3 times and suffering the disappointment of it coming back I didn't hold my breath. Lo and behold, my wife took the kids out this morning and there was the noise again! I don't know what to do anymore and I am seriously contemplating cutting my losses and trading the car in somewhere which will lose me a good chunk of the £17k I paid for it. I will of course contact Lexus again but don't know how much more they will do (they quoted the caliper change at £500 each). If anybody has any advice or has had the same issue and solved it somehow please let me know. I'm not mechanically minded so can't take off and clean anything - and to be honest I shouldn't have to as I have had far cheaper cars with no issues whatsoever. I thought I was trading up! Any help would ne appreciated! Cheers

Hi All, The passenger dipped beam on my IS300h has stopped working. Lexus has quoted me £125 to change just that one side. They say its not the light unit but the bulb. Looking online I can get the bulbs for around £40 each. I also found some HID bulbs called 'OSRAM Night Breaker Laser Xenarc' which are £120 for a pair from autobulbsdirect.co.uk. Can anyone please advise if its relatively easy to change the bulbs myself or I shouldn't even attempt? Also, does anyone have any experience with these bulbs? I'm thinking if its £120 for 2 and its easy to change I may as well change both myself and get the better performance these bulbs are supposed to provide as TBH the lights aren't currently anything to write home about. Lastly, if anyone could advise if they've had any issues with error messages after changing bulbs? Funnily enough, I received no error messages after the current bulb failed (which is very strange to me) I only noticed on a reflection. If you have had error codes let me know as if it may be the light unit malfunctioning, I'd rather they change the bulb and see that's the case than I do it and they say its happened because I've used aftermarket bulbs. I want to be able to rev the engine in neutral. I know the computer won't allow it. Is there a way to change it so that I can? The engine sounds great, I want to be able to hear it without having to go down the motorway!!!

Hi guys, I really need help asap with my sunroof. I pressed the slide back button and it moved slightly then jammed! When I got out of the car, I noticed one corner of the glass has sunk below the roof level. Does the glass slide back under the roof or over it? It's never worked since I've had the car so I don't know how they open on the IS200. I've attached an image and I hope you guys can see it to advise me the best way to fix this. Cheers in advance

Hello all, apologies if i am repeating the question but i couldnt find anyone with the same issue on here, basically i bought a 2007 gs450h recently and it is amazing, however, the speedometer seems to start at around 15mph, so even when the car is off, the speedo needle is at 15mph instead of 0, and thats causing my speed to be 15mph off constantly. is there a fix for that? or would i need a new cluster? and if a new cluster required, is there a replacement guide at all? thank you so much

Hi after some advice i have a rx400h which now has a leak over the rear passengers window but comes out in the boot ive tried silicone and duct tape but that didnt help any ideas? regards dan

Hi I have a Lexus Is200 down on power the lambda sensor was giving a fault so I put in a second hand one it was still giving a fault so I bought a brand new one. Was still giving fault so I assumed the cat was blocked, I then changed the cat and car struggled to start so I disconnect the new cat still wouldn’t start. I then changed the fuel pump and spark plugs car still wouldn’t start. I eventually toed the car and rolling started it. It started and haven’t had an issue with starting it ever since but is very down on power struggles to get up a hill. I changed the coil packs, injectors, throttle body, disconnected the lambda sensors, changed the map sensor changed the air filter.. I’m running out of ideas any help is appreciated. Only fault that comes up on the system is the lambda sensor

Hi there, i have a Lexus 2013 CT200h. Car has been fine no warning signs anything and today it just would not unlock. Once in with the manual key I tried the other way your supposed to be able to start your Lexus and it didn’t work. Thought okay dead key fob, changed the battery however still no change. The red light does work on the key fob when buttons are pressed so we know that works now. When your in the car you go to start as normal but you get absolutely nothing. No lights no sounds. Completely dead. Yet was fine last night? Here are the things I can think of currently, 1. For some reason alternator may not of been charging battery properly for some time and battery has finally given up. 2. Battery is old and therefore has given up. 3. Maybe there is a problem with the smart entry/ smart start up system. 4. Maybe a fuse has gone, a faulty wire or relay somewhere? Have been looking through manuals and looking through google online and cannot get answers do not want to have to go to Lexus yet as May more than likely cost an arm and a leg! 😛 My brother is coming over tomorrow with a diagnostic tool, but he has said if we cannot get any power to start the ignition of the car most diagnostic tools if not all will not work without this. Any ideas would be appreciated! Then I can check them out in the morning when it is light again and much less cold! Thank you ☺️

Hi guys, i am new to this but i have had a kexus is 200 for many years and i love them i have a dilemma, my front light washers wernt working and they where the day before, so i took out all the fuses in the car 1 by 1 now my can wont start, it wont turnover, everything else works as normal, i need to get this sorted as i have work tomorrow, i hope it's something simple, i would really appreciate, hopefully one of you guys have had this problem before, and kno how to fix it, i am now going to take the fuses out again and put them back in, i am desperate

Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum and I wanted to ask the experts for some advice. I have decided on a IS250 SEL Auto as my next car as apposed to a BMW 325 auto (e90 shape), it will be my first Lexus (currently have a Nissan Juke and before that a v6 Merc c240). I searched Auto trader and Gumtree found independents/private guys selling them for around £6.5 - 7.5k with 60k(ish) on the clock on a 06/07plate. I found dealers offering similar for £8.5k- £9k ish. My questions are; 1. Are dealer cars worth £1-1.5k premium? 2. Is there a notable difference between the 05/06 cars and 09 cars? I would naturally go for the newer cars but it seems as the IS250 seems to be reliable, well built and without any major changes untill 2010ish.... so why pay extra? I would really appreciate some guidance and experience. Thanks for reading

Hi I would like to introduce myself I'm Chris I have an 04 plate is200 which has ran great for about 5 years until recently my cooling fans stopped working causing my engine to overheat. I ha've tried several different things to get fans to kick in so hopeful someone with Lexus experience can highlight what is probably a simple issue. My fans kick in when ac is switched on so I know the fan motors run. I then used then disconnected the fan switch and nothing (I'm under the impression this is supposed to start them up) so since I knew the ac circuit was operating correctly I used that to check the other fan relays 1 & 2 which both worked fine I ly one I couldn't test this way was a brown one And now I'm stuck any help ideas hints even if it starts with what an idiot you never checked...... Lol thanks in advance

Hi. I have a Lexus IS200. My car has started making a strange sound when I drive. Its like a squeaking noise as I drive. I have had my car into a garage and the mechanic can not find anything wrong with the car. The noise is similar to a train coming into a station. The mechanic did check my break and said there was nothing wrong with my car. Has anyone any ideas what could be wrong with the car. Thanks Paul.

Good evening ladies and gents, I have recently purchased a 2001 Lexus IS200 Sport. I'm having the dreaded headlight issue. Passenger side low beam doesn't work but the high beams work. I just checked to see if I have power at the fuses in the fuse box and I don't. I also don't have power at the headlight connector. I have been looking on every forum I can find but haven't been able to find a fix. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi, Can anyone here assist me in verifying OEM body panels? I have recently had a replacement bonnet (warranty claim) due to corrosion but I have my doubts on whether it is an original Lexus part or a patterned replacement part. I wondered if the original has any Lexus ID’s stamped in the metal? Cheers

I have recently bought a lexus is200 and have 2 questions. Is it a sport? It says its a sport on cartell.ie and insurance say its sport but it doesnt have the tinted windows or the crome pedels or crome sills but has sunroof and black interior with heated seats. is it really a sport?? + When i jacked the car up and put the car into second gear then spun the wheels one spun forward the other spun the oppisite way. I got my friend to hold one wheel while i tryed to spin the other but it didnt move. When i do a burn out on dry cement both wheels will spin and sometimes it will only spin one as i have tried this a few times. Could it be diff oil? The car will also only do a donut in wet! Can someone help me with this its doing my head in!!

Hello all! Hopefully I can get some help here. I bought myself and IS200 a couple of months ago, and it came with the original orange/red dashboard lights installed. First they worked fine, but then one of them died and did not work anymore. I tried the standard way of hitting the dashboard from the side and then it would flicker some, and in some cases start to work again. When it had started to work again for a while, it died again and did not work anymore. I then decided to switch all of the light bulbs inside the dashboard to blue ones. Said and done, I removed the dashboard and installed the new blue light bulbs where the old ones had been. First it worked OK and there were no problems. A couple of days later the same bulb that died first when I bought the car died again. I switched bulb again, and the same thing happened again. Later the bulb on the opposite side died, and now one of the bulbs on the top are flickering. Does anybody have any idea what the problem might be? I have nicked some photos online to illustrate the problem: The red one to the bottom left is the one that died first when I bought the car, and also died twice when I switched to blue bulbs. The yellow one to the bottom right must also have died I believe, since trip meter doesn't light up very well. The yellow top one is flickering right now. This is the back, of course. The red circle is the one that died when I bought the car, and which I have replaced with blue bulbs twice, and still is dead. The yellow one to the right is the one I believe also have died since the trip meter doesn't light up very well. The top yellow one is the one flickering right now. Any suggestions or ideas of what might be wrong or how to fix it is much appreciated! Best regards, MajorT

I bought a carbon bonnet, back in feb, on ebay from unique_clothing who also trade as JDM parts or something, but soon after decided to sell the car so never even fitted the bonnet, I just put it back on ebay as my 14 days change of mind had passed it sold and I checked and sent it, it arrived at its new owners a day later than it should have but thats not a big deal, anyway he has fitted it and sasys the panel gaps are huge and wants a refund, theres little I can do given that the bonnet is a cheaper than usual carbon fibre job I assume the chap is telling the truth and it doesn't fit well, I have asked him to carefully wrap it back up in its original box and return it and agreed I will refund if it is simply a bad fit, warning that any damage would mean no refund meanwhile I have opened a dispute with unique_clothing so I can hopefully return it to them, but i'm way over my 45 days seller protection, sale of goods act is on my side if the item is not fit for purpose, as its only 3 months since purchase, but what if ebay sides with the seller as I didn't respond earlier? how easy is it to get money back from an online business??
