  2. Cheers for the advice Steve, that was my thoughts exactly but wanted a second opinion. A shame as I just managed to refurb my rear callipers only for the front to let me down haha, not a fun expense !
  3. Hi Linas, To be honest my plan is to strip them back and repaint/hydrodip them black. The rubber bit isn't all that important.
  4. I didn't expect that from Lexus, even the wife's previous old 11 plate Yaris had cruise control.
  5. Hello everyone - how does the Lexus Roadside Assistance compare with AA ? Lexus RSA is marginally more expensive but is it worth it?
  6. A brief update on this. The car has been with the dealer for four days now and they are not responding to my calls. Lexus link+ shows it has been locked since 10.30 so they have done nothing today. It is a good car but frankly the dealer network is crap.

  8. I remember years ago we were in Rouen and my wife had the speciality of the region. The menu was in French, it turned out to be sheep’s foot. It was like a ball of elastic bands in a very strong garlic sauce. Revolting. What do the French do with all the good bits of an animal to eat. The specials always seem to be the rubbish bits.
  9. Why would this fault show if I can't connect the temp sensor to a non lexus battery?
  10. looking for an ECU and key does anyone have one for sale?
  11. By this time majority of GS450h are out of warranty and people seems to cope just fine. So you are more of exception to still have warranty for it, not the other way around and these cars are perfectly usable and reliable outside of warranty. Could it be that your hybrid battery fails... yes, things like that happens, but it is not the end of the world £600-800 and it is fixed, probably that isn't much more than you were paying for extended warranty? Is it? Going to GS430 is not so much "going back", they are mostly the same, GS430 probably nicer to drive, sounds nicer, gearbox is nicer etc. Ideally you should go to GS460, but those are rarer than unicorns. That said - if you already have GS450h then it makes absolutelly no sense to change, any added reliability that you would get would be consumed by the cost and headache of changing the car... another big issue GS430 is probably £715 for road tax now (£695 maybe)... so again anything that you can potentially save by having more reliable (or rather less risky) car will be consumed just in the road tax... and there are good chance your GS450h won't go wrong anyway. So no GS450h>GS430 makes no sense, even if it is not a step backwards.
  12. I'm a 3k miles a year driver and do all of the battery 'management' stuff like using 'ready' when cleaning etc. and, yes, I can keep the battery at about 12.5v with the help of a battery momitor - fantastic!! The point is that why should we have to do this on a £60k car !!!!!! Toyota/Lexus battery management system isn't fit for purpose. Its's a shame as the car is brilliant in almost every other respect and I love the drive quality.
  13. Thanks Andy, but upon more detailed inspection the crack in the rad is clearly visible ... sadly!
  14. Hi Kevin/Ken I read the same that Auto will prioritise EV and only add engine if you ask for more acceleration so it will quickly deplete the EV battery on a long trip and not save for later. I’ve opted for the same as you both and to manually switch between HV and EV Ken are you saying that while in HV mode the EV kicks in? Is that just the standard hybrid functionality so essentially just the car operating as if the EV was depleted? Or are you seeing the EV range drop while in HV mode? I’m about to set off for a 150 mile trek so will have another chance to test!
  15. My previous GS300 was on 198000 miles when I sold it.It was 1998 GS300 with Prins system and Stako tank. I saw it on Ebay about 2 years later with 220000 miles, almost the same price I sold it for. I now have a 2002 GS300 with a BRC system. The first one I had easily did 100000 on LPG, I had it for about 5/6 years, the engine oil was gold when I bought it, and didn't change oil at all, stayed the same colour. The one I have now had LPG fitted when I bought it with 50000 miles on the clock, no flash lube on it, and its now on almost 90000, same oil. Only problem I've had is gearbox oil, which has nothing to do with LPG.
  16. When it comes to MOT - it is hit and miss, some testers will point it out, others will ignore it. The replacement will be expensive if you looking to replace all the lines to the original ones. That said most of the time it is only the flex lines that needs to be replaced, have seen quite rusty cars (particularly GS300), but never seen Lexus of this generation which had actual hardlines rusted to the point of needing the replacement. Again it is usually the part which is in the wheel well and it is the bracket or the nut that is rusted, or it is covered in rusted brake dust, but it is not the lines themselves that are rusted. But as Lucas said - these are soon to be 20 years old cars, metal rust, so with time rust will become an issue.
  17. Picked up the 450 yesterday; total fail with the MA1 😞
  18. We've only had our LBX for a few days (first Lexus). Whilst we're really enjoying it there seems to be an issue with the SatNav: it doesn't appear to know about the London congestion zone. Even with "Avoid toll roads" checked it is still routing us through the zone. Am I missing something obvious, or is this a real issue? Also, I tried to update the map and I get "Problem with map update. Please contact your dealer".
  19. Good write up, thank you. I really like mine too although I’m interested in the 300h because it has the new Mk5 powertrain in it. I’ll be having one of those on extended test soon. I haven’t really got much to criticise mine for. I agree the leather seats aren’t as durable as the nulux version and they aren’t as comfortable either. I don’t understand why they insist on using over bolstered seats in the luxury versions when they can fit bolstered seats in the F Sport models. I changed my tyres for all season and they’re a bit on the noisy side but although the Michelins are quiet, they’re a summer tyre which is no good where I live.
  20. Thanks. I also got 39mpg on a 25 mile journey on the next refill, which was mixed driving at about 55mph overall. However, in the interests of fairness, the return 120 mile journey is much more 'up hill' and I achieved 35mpg for that leg, again with carefulish driving but not stupidly 'slow'. Average of 65mph. Take your point on trip computer accuracy.

  24. Because Lexus in their infinite wisdom decided that emissions problems require that inbuilt safety systems be disabled. We get the same when there is a minor fault in one of the O2 sensors. On mine it was the pre-heater on the O2 sensor (bank 1, pre-CAT) that had failed, so the engine was emitting too much evil pollution until the sensor reached operating temperature. I assume they do it to "force" you to get it fixed ASAP.
