Washing Machines

if it is anything like their hoovers then no.... i had a hoover and it was good at first.. but the plastic crap just fell apart and went through belts like nobodies business.

Best washing machines i have had are Zansussi (not sure if this company is still around) and hotpoint was a very good make.... used it everyday when i was in a family lifestyle and in the building trade (not as cement mixer... to wash my clothes silly)

anything with fancy gadgets is gonna be costy to maintain... rmemeber that dyson do not build to last forever.. due to the way everything is built these days to only last a certain amount of years so you buy another machine... clever marketing!

Dyson may do it very well.. but in 5 years they want you to buy another.

i would say they are not dave ,i think bosch is the best choice as i have a mate who repairs them and he swears by bosch .if the dyson one is anything like the hoover i would not bother our hoover spent more time at dyson than it did at our house due to poor plastic it was made of, then they had the cheek to phone me and tell me i was hoovering the wrong type of dust ie decorating dust and it had clogged the filters ;) .bought a kirby and it is the nuts ,if only they made other stuff.

In the Which reports the Dyson didn't perform any better than normal washing machines, it gave the same washing results.

I have a Bosch, it was the top of the range when I bought it a few years back and I haven't had a single problem. The newer one's look very smart with fancy digital displays etc but that could also mean more to go wrong!

The which report also says it uses lots of water even if you have a small load. So not good if you have a water meter.

I would also recommend Bosch unless you want to spend lots of money and get a Miele.

Whatever you buy do it online and save hundreds. Check out http://www.pricerunner.co.uk to see who is cheapest at the time.

Steer clear. Too much money for no benefit. Probably go wrong all the time like the hoovers.

I have an AEG which I am well happy with. AEG, Meile and Bosch have the best reliability rating out of them all. For fridges, Candy surprisingly come out well. Maybe their washing machines will too.

I shall try to get the Which washing machine report for you.

Dave - there is no downloadable PDF of the review, so as the website contains loads of links etc, I have PM'd you the web address and also my Which login details to access it.

Sorry, couldn't post this here as don't really want login details to be passed about. Did think about doing it in GOLD but then changed my mind. If anyone else wants it, PM me. Maybe I should limit this to any Gold members?????

Try www.empiredirect.co.uk. We got our hotpoint washer/dryer from them last year. Over a £100 cheaper than high street and it was delivered in 3 days from the manufacturer(this was a surprise as deliver time guide online was a couple of weeks)

I'd rate them.

Also bought a dyson from them :whistling: saved a packet on that too.

Bought a TV from them it was faulty had it replaced...new one had same fault returned it and got refund. They sorted couriers back and forth.

After sales was ok.....not 10/10....but did the job.

I used to have a Miele washing machine. 11 years and NO problems later, swapped it for a Bosch washer dryer which is good too. Inside information is that Bosch, Siemens and AEG washing machines and washer dryers are built in the same factory so buy the cheapest one. Likewise for Miele, AEG and Bosh dishwashers.

For the record: We've had an ariston for years - no problems, but wife is now moaning about it not being stainless steel! :mat:
