Change odometer from miles to kilometers

It's not impossible that it's the latest version that has the error. Unlikely but not impossible. Could you find a version number for Bruno to compare?

I'm on VD12104B.

This is my version as found on the infotainment system. I am thinking that firmware for the cluster is entirely separate to the infotainment system.

There are no SW updates for the cluster that are downloadable. I had that confirmed when I had my issue with my cluster mileage issue.

I called the Lexus National technical helpline which anyone can call since its chargeable call. They are a very helpful set of guys but no update for my clock issue.

By all means call them with this specific issue. They (if anyone) will know about it or if there is a button sequence that can change it

Just out of interest, what does the display look like when you change it to kph?

Does the range change to kilometres, while the odometer (1572 miles in the picture) stays as it is, labelled with miles?

When I change to kmh everything changes to km (including the range) except the odometer and the trip A and B options...

Soon I'll be on this version too as I ordered the 2018 maps. My current version is the initial from 2013/2014.

I imported an F-Sport from the UK to Ireland earlier this year and the speedo and odometer change to kilometres, its in the settings somewhere. So don't go too harsh on Lexus just yet!

I'll have a check over the weekend if you haven't found it by then.

Are you saying that you have an UK imported F-Sport and everything in your cluster is now in kms? I'm almost sure that my car doesn't have any option to change the odometer, but if you did it all the help is much appreciated!!!!

Looking at Toyodiy.com there is a dedicated UK instrument cluster for the non F Sport, but the F Sport has a common European part code so it must be possible to convert. Possibly using Techstream if the standard in-vehicle configuration options don't allow it.

I had that idea too, but after seeing some screenshots of the unit conversion option in thechstream showing only the option between kmh/mph/etc and after multiple Lexus dealers in Dublin confirming that it's not possible to change the odometer I'm losing my hopes...:)

If you're buying the card just for the firmware update, don't bother. There's some instructions on the forum for getting it even though Lexus no longer provide it for download. Someone extracted it from their new SD card and uploaded it for us all.

If you want the maps then go ahead!

Did someone say new maps are out each October? I'd have held off personally.

Well, I bought it already. 50eur from eBay so no worries. I want the maps updated as these are from 2013.

Thanks for the tips anyway! Cheers

So I checked this....first image is what I have, speedo and odometer in KM:

Second image is when I switch everything to miles:

And to do this you use the controls on the right top of the steering wheel, stroll up or down until you see the km/h and MPH option as per the above photo, then select the one you want:

Damn...mine doesn't do that.

What is your car's year? Also do you manage this with your car READY or how?

Thanks,

Bruno

Hi fellas, I have a plan.

Bruno and J, this is an interesting problem, surely not too difficult to sort out. You both live on the Emerald Isle and even better, you both live in Dublin, it gets better still when you add that you both have UK IS300h imports.

Now J, it seems you have solved this problem, why not arrange to meet with Bruno and show him what you did. After all two minds are better than one, maybe there is a minor trick that Bruno has missed, or something you can work out together.

It is not as if you live in Russia, one in Moscow the other in Kemerovo, a months camel ride apart.  Give it a try then, enjoy a litre or so of  that black gold you sell there.

Best wishes.

Michael.

That's in fact a great idea. I didn't even noticed J was in Dublin! :)

Thanks Michael, I'll contact J via private message.

Hi fellas,

it is a good job that in days of old i used to watch, Black Bladder on TV.

Good idea about the Irish meet, there are many Lexotites in Ireland.

Please keep us all informed how the problem in hand progresses. Thanks.

Best wishes and good luck.

Michael.

We will.

As of now I'll wait for the sdcard with the new maps so I get the car software updated (I doubt it will solve this issue but let's see).

If it doesn't I'll meet with J and see if by any chance he's doing something differently (again I doubt it as this feature is quite straightforward).

Anyway, at least I'll have something to show Lexus Ireland that this is possible somehow as a similar pre facelift car is able to easily change the odometer.

Cheers and thanks,

Bruno

I couldn't wait and had to update the software now to see if that was the problem...As expected it isn't...software updated to version VD12104B and same problem here. Will meet J soon to figure this out.

I'm a bit late to the party but I too have just brought in an 300 F Sport from the UK and changed the settings it the same way MotoDevil had done.  It worked no problem, and change all measurements ikncluding the ODO and trip to kms.  Mine is an 152 D, or what was a 65 UK reg.  I'm not sure if that helps you but it sounds more like a bug in your setup than a lack of knowledge about the configuration.

The strange thing is that searching on internet you two are the first ones that I came across that can actually change the odometer. I'll meet with J this Saturday just to be sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it's related with any other setting in the car which I really doubt.

Thanks for the info.

So, after Brian kindly shared with me the his car's VIN I asked Lexus UK about this situation sending them my VIN along with Brian's.

This is their response:

------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your most recent email regarding your Lexus IS 300h.

We forwarded your further feedback directly to our Technical Department, who have essentially confirmed the response you have received from both my colleagues in that we are unable to endorse or support changing your vehicle from the way in which it was originally homologated.

In response to your feedback regarding the VIN number you provided as a comparison, these vehicles were supplied with different combination meters at point of manufacturer.  In this respect the supplier and therefore the hardware/software is not comparable.

I appreciate this response does not meet with your expectations, however we as the manufacturer cannot provide any further comment or advice regarding modification from the factory specification.  You may therefore wish to seek advice from and import /export specialist third party.

Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

So basically it seems that 2015 IS300H were supplied with different combination meters at point of manufacturer, whatever that means...I really can't understand how this is done by Lexus...a car from 2014 is not comparable with one from 2015 when both are pre facelift? Do they change the hardware/software every year?
