Se Auto Nav Or Sport Nav

Recommended Posts

Just costing up a SE auto Nav and realised that it cost more than the Sport Nav.

Which is better?- I quite like the autobox but is the 'extras' with the Sport worth it?

I was faced with the same nelly n kelly as you.

Green Sport Nav

Black SE Auto Nav

Yes the auto sat nav is dearer then the sport...

But I went for the auto because of the colour, and now I love it bits, altough I will be 'upgrading' my baby to sport spec. Lip spoiler, all around tints, lowering etc.

So go for the auto nav or IS300 ;)

Afterall do you wanna be fiddling with gears or sitting back, enjoying and grining at your LUXURY car :whistling: B)

I'm on my 3rd IS200 SE Auto. The performance is nothing to write home about, but it's a lovely motorway cruiser and not having to waggle that stick around is great... Other opinions here are correct though... Next time it's going to be an IS300 or new shape GS300 for me...

Your decision should rest on the type of driving you use the car for ! :geek:

I clocked up over 33k miles on my '02' Sport, and I now have a '04' IS300 Auto, I would never go back to manual gears, but this is because I am driving All day EVERY day. So, if you only drive in the evenings and weekends I can highly recommend the Sport, BUT the main thing I disliked about it was the fact that it had 6 gears and a VERY close ratio gearbox (and i mean the revs would only drop about 400rpm between gear changes) and i was changing gears more often and when you are driving all day and around town it becomes very tiring (especially with a 2nd gear clonk!). The other thing is that during motoray driving, the revs are at 3000 rpm and the speed is only 64mph ! and it would REALLY need a 7th gear. ;)

The auto box on the IS300 suits me best and im not being bias towards the IS300 the fact that its a much faster car, because its soooo new i havent even floored it yet, so I havent yet experienced the power side of it.

You would lose the L.S.D. by going for the SE auto, but hey ! In the 33k miles i drove my Sport, it never once had to be used.

Auto for me ! :driving:

P.S. I drove a SE auto once and the acceleration from standing felt quicker than the manual.

Had an SE Auto Nav for two years and drove a sport a few times when the SE was in for a service. What i noticed is that unless your pretty good with the gears (and I'm not), I found my auto went just as fast with foot flat to the floor and the PWR button on.

I chose an auto because I do a lot of motorway miles and wanted to kick back and cruise; and yes i did use the cruise control an awful lot.

Now I've got an IS300 which is the best of both worlds, although I'm finding I'm using the steptronic less and less. Now it's the same as before but a lot quicker - PWR button on, foot flat to the floor and adjust big grin in rear view mirror.

BTW I picked up a one year Sat Nav IS300 for less than a brand new IS200 SE, something to consider.

as most people have already said, it depends mainly on whether you actually want a manual or an auto, because all the extras on the sport (besides the LSD) can be added onto an SE (obviously at greater cost)

personally as an auto owner, wouldnt swap for a manual (and the gearshift area is far better looking in the auto) but while the auto does jump off the line quicker, (or seems to), i then find it almost painful when the power drops as it changes up to 2nd gear

to put it simply, do u wanna look like this :driving: , or like this B)

Recently bought an Auto se and test drove a sport.

The Auto se was by far more relaxed and comfortable.

Remember the Sport has lowered and harder suspension so the ride isnt as comfortable.Ignore the on paper figures for performance,in my experience Auto's are faster away from a standing start, have you ever seen a road tester testing a manual car 0-60 it brings tears to yr eyes.
