...and I had more parking space!

There's a beautiful Crown Majesta on eBay but I can't for the life of me manage to get the link up!

You notice they don't show the Dashboard. One of the issues with the Crown Majesta was the wood veneer / plastic wood veneer (?) peeling or cracking under heat. Also the Dash board surround can crack.  Check out other examples on a japanese auction website. Otherwise, lovely to look at and great shape.

It's a lovely body I think.

I would get fed-up trying to deal with the km to mph conversion stuff and it is a bit odd that hey haven't shown the dash at all ....  sat nav in impossible Japanese, well, unless you are Japanese I s'pose 😊

Thankfully mine was changed professionally to miles before I bought it but I must say the km thing would annoy me. I took my sat nav disc out as the (presumably very polite) Japanese lady talked to me every startup!

Toyota Century for me the ultimate in quietness and refinement!

As much as I'd love a Century I've a feeling that having 12 cylinders sitting outside may keep me awake at night.  I did get to sit in one and drool over it a couple of years ago with another member of the forum and it was impressive, soooo many toys and just a fine example of Japanese excess!

It's the new V8 hybrid I'm after!

I see, well you're certainly be aiming high!  I bet it would be far superior to a Rolls or Bentley, sadly I'll never know!☹️

Money no object, I'd have a Bentley Flying Spur (W12) for everyday use, a Rolls Royce Phantom Extended (and a Chauffeur) for long distance trips, and a whole load of supercars and specialist cars,... and at least 30 motorcycles. I reckon I could spend at least 10 million on motor vehicles before I got bored. :balloon:
Once you have that kind of money, reliability is someone else's problem.

unless of course the car breaks down while you're out driving in it !

I have been, on several occasions, tempted to buy myself a Bentley S3 BUT my indy quite assures me that it will be on the trailer to him for something to be fixed as much as it's not, and not really satisfactorily useable for everyday driving ........  he tells me to just keep my trusty ( mostly ) reliable Ls400 for my usual 12 / 15k miles a year

My next door neighbour has, amongst other cars he uses more,  a modern day Bentley Continental, 2010 vintage .........  and it rarely goes anywhere, even before lockdown ........  last MOT it had just done 26500 miles from new ......  wot a waste of having such a super car :wink3:

At which point you get out, lock it, phone for a taxi and pay someone else to deal with it. Someone else's problem.

To be honest I'd probably find the best facelift LS430 I can and have it "renewed", modified, and updated so that I effectively have a brand new LS430 for the 21st century. I'd have the drivers seat moved rearwards about 1" and completely rebuilt for me, totally new audio/nav system created based on an Android system including all the AirCon, etc. controls, and a mild power boost to take it to 350bhp.

Taxi? What's wrong with the helicopter?

The problem with having that kind of money I'm not sure I'd appreciate having a nice car so much, not that I'll ever know!

That was my thinking, apart from the rebuild. My old 430 was fine, but I spent what was described as silly money on another one, also 2004. One owner, full supplying dealer service history every year from new, and 40k on the clock. I didn't see it as silly.

If you're happy with it it's far from silly!  I can possibly beat that anyway. I paid 6k for mine with 62k on the clock, replaced an air strut with a used one, replaced the whole lot with Arnott air struts, decided to replace the whole lot with conventional springs, replaced all the other suspension components even though I didn't need to, changed the wheels, new tyres (even though the others were perfect) replaced the radiator and one or two other things.  Anyway, I'm more than happy with it now and it was my money.  Whoever buys it next will get a bargain that's for sure!

Cost wise yes, but inconvenience as it sits in the garage waiting to be repaired? That would drive me nuts!

My Celsior is now suffering from the dreaded Rover 800 curly dash problem, it started on the passenger side but has now continued to the driver’s side. Unfortunately it peels away and lifts right where the windscreen is so getting access to it means a dash out job and some very strong adhesive.

Just out of interest I contacted the seller of the Crown asking about the dash, no reply!

It's design was perhaps copied by Mercedes as it looks more modern even today than the LS430, however they seemed to go cheaper on the trims for the Japanese customer. Such a pity.  I had a conversation with someone in Oz who bought one and I think started a short thread "Crown Majesta" from memory as considered importing one back in the day. Will need a specialist Veneerer (?) to replace.  Tragic if the Celsior was also cut price when it came to trim.

Thankfully the Celsior trim is excellent. By that I mean the same as all LS430's.
