Hunting....

I have a question for the TEzza boys (and others).

The Tezza doesn't seem to be quite right at the moment. It hunts on idle. Not badly, but it wavers between say 1400rpm and 400rpm. It only does it when it's hot. And it fluctuates. It nearly stalls (at 400) then bounces back up.

I have the induction and exhaust fitted, ECU reset and a new sensor in the induction. No difference.

Any ideas?

Also, I want to take it somewhere to get it checked over. I don't really want to trek to Jemca in London, so can anyone reccomend anywhere in the Midlands who are import specialists? Or shall I just try a Toyota dealer?

Thanks chaps - and pictures of the new motor to follow over the weekend..... :)

You want to get it on a diagnosis to check for engine faults. Checked the o2 Sensor?

Do the usual i.e. check the plugs, coil packs etc...

Also was the problem there before or after you fitted the Induction kit?

You could try TSL Motorsport in the Notts area. Don't know whether they could help with the 'tezza but they seem to know what they're doing with Scoobys. When I took my Audi there, they were most helpful.

Yeah - I thought of that the other day when we spoke.

Will give them a call tomorrow - can you bring their number if you have it handy please?

Does it drive okay, but idle like crap?

I reckon open your yellow pages and get a mobile technician out. Altezza is same as any car, it has an engine... yours just has a obvious fault somewhere!

Could be very cheeky and call AA if u have roadside assistance and tell them your cars running like crap..

Also, you sure you got Unleaded in there? hehe

Zee i would almost swear its 1 or more of the coil packs... what year is the Tez?

up to 2000 these were a bit of a problem they then switched to different coil packs ( part number 90919-02236 ) which seems to have sorted it out... bet you could get them couldn`t you Chris..?

Not cheap though Zee about £65 each and there are 4!

Zee - did you get this sorted today?

Kind of Nick. We established the throttle cable was far too tight - so this has been adjusted correctly. In addition, the reading showed the car is running a tad lean. This points to a faulty o2 sensor. So this shall be ordered Monday (by the helpful as ever Mr. Shipley) and we'll take it from there.

Car is running a lot better though.... :)
