Hello From A Newbie

Hi,

I have been floating around as a 'guest' for the past couple of weeks and, having collected my IS200 SE this morning, thought it was about time I registered and said hello to everyone.

So... HELLO!

Now, time for a daft question.. Should I pay for gold membership?

As I purchased the car from an independent dealer, it is almost due for a 50,000 service and also only has one key (Who only has one key for their car? )

I understand that you guys do not post details of gold discounts outside of the gold members forum, but to help me make a decision, would I save any money using the words 'gold member' in Oxford Lexus?

While I am here (And girlfy is not looking) does anyone know of any window tinting companies in the Oxford area? I have used Pentagon in the past, but as they are v - expensive (I guess you get what you pay for), I thought it worth shopping round first.

Bye for now!

Chris

Welcome to LOC Chris :)

Gold is worth it as you will be saving money back the first time you have the car serviced at a participating dealer - to be honest some of the information we have on dealers is out of date now and so it's easier for you to ring the dealer and ask as sometimes dealers stop / start when the franchise changes hands....

Like Mike I had my tints done at a very good place in Nottingham but it is a long way for you!

Good luck!

Gold

info for you..................Welcome to the club :driving:

RE Pentagon.. They won't? Why? Hmm.. I'm sure I could convince them to.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I will give Oxford a call on Monday and assuming that they participate in the discount scheme, I will sign up then.

Thanks again,

Chris

Because they think it's totally illegal ............ they won't even tint it to the legal requirement ! oh well .... there loss.

Welcome to LOC...

Gold is definately worth going for. My subscription fee has paid for itself, with the first few upgrades i've bought. Plus it's not just a discount scheme, its a membership that gives you access to a whole new section of LOC... definately worth it.

As for the tints... i got mine done, all round same shade, at In Car Centre, Wembley. It's a bit of a distance from Oxford, but definately worth dropping them a call.

Hope you're enjoying the Lex :) :driving:

Yeah but guys, to be honest all Gold gets you nowadays is a discount from some dealers and then the rest is just porn

The discount is definitely worth the subscription alone but in my opinion you don't get as much going gold as you got two years ago :o

That's going to upset some people but I don't think there is any argument as it's true!!

Please don't anyone take that comment personally, it's just an observation.

That bit's just a bonus for some of the guys as I reckon it's a way to get the money past the better half

You do get the dealer discounts and access to group buys which is where the real money savings are to be honest :)

If you take for example a £600 service - a 10% discount is 60 pounds - so basically you pay 25 to save 60 - so immediately you're £35 better off :D
