  1. Just an idea and one designed to satisfy all parties... I've seen on other forums that they have a sticky thread in each model section listing the recalls. A mod maintains the original post, adding recall details to it when they are announced and then members can tack on posts about any of the recalls whenever someone has something to ask/say. That way you don't get multiple topics on the same thing and yet people can find it without resorting to the search function which can be a bit hit or miss.

  5. Mine never made a noise going over a bump , as for the weather never noticed all I can say it always happened first thing in the morning or if i have gone somewhere and left the car to sit for a while. I would start the car set off either forward or reverse and as I turned the steering wheel clang which vibrated everywhere which ended up with many parts being replaced to the cost of lexus and after everything it was a faulty drivers side top strut mount like you I was at the end of my tether so much I was in talks with lexus uk with the not fit for purpose and poss sending the car back hope you get it sorted soon. Regards Peter

  6. The water temp meter tells you nothing about how 'warmed up' the engine is. The engine performance is carefully monitored by the ECU, ours will go into EV mode after about 1 mile of driving. At this point the engine is already 'warmed up'. What you want to see is the oil temp, water temp is only evidence of how much cooling the combustion engine is needing, not how efficient its running.

  7. That would be a better idea for this topic and any future ones if there are any. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Brake dust doesn't know if your car is old or not, neither does the road salt. Give your wheels a good coat of a wheel protectant (I use one by Poor Boys) every so often and you'll have no issues.

  9. Good Winter tyres will transform the car. My LS430 drove better in deep snow in the Cairngorms with Yokohama W Drive tyres than my RX300 with all season tyres. There are a few good U Tube videos that explain and demonstrate how winter tyres are designed to work in colder conditions. They will get you uphill, allow you to steer and most importantly, will also save you from sliding downhill. Expensive but worth it if you're likely to encounter low temperatures frequently.

  12. The disc in the LS400 up to 2000 is a CD ,it was only when the Ls430 was introduced the disc became a DVD. The updates for the LS400 were phased out in the early part of the century and were very limited due to the space on the CD.

  13. Security code on the Mark 4 is optional but if it as been applied then disconnecting the battery will cause a re-insert requirement when reconnected. If you inadvertently disconnect without having the code there is a dance with the switches routine that reverts the code back to factory setting, so you can start from scratch. It is in the forum archives .

  14. Seems I must be very careful before I make a post in case someone else has said the same thing elsewhere and thus incur the wrath of Verbout. (is that short for Verbal Boot ?) I hear what you say Bluesman but to be fair I have to ask myself "Can I be bothered to hang out in a place that has that sort of company and take the chance of being chastised? " Frankly, no, so I'm off. Does it really matter that much Verbout? And when you are the only one left here? Bye Bye and thanks to all the others who have contributed.

  15. I had the same problem a knocking sound ( like a clang ) only when cold in first or reverse gear when first setting off but because of the vibration of the noise we could not pin it down after numerous visits and many many parts being replaced lexus could not find the fault after several months of going back and fourth no joy even the visit of the so called lexus expert could not replicate the noise I even had the lexus mechanics on a few occasions come to my work place put the bonnet up an sit on the engine while I drove the vehicle slowly they hear the clang say ok take it away then a few days later drop it off saying fixed only to hear the noise the following morning so fed up spoke to a mechanic friend and he said straight away top mount I phoned lexus to book it in and change it hey presto no noise now a happy driver lol
