Hello and welcome to the LOC. A common problem on some Lexus cars is the main alternator fuse failing when the battery is flat/recharged/refitted. It is normally located in the engine bay fusebox rated at 80A and may be labelled as the "Alternator fuse" This fuse is not a straight plug in/out like other fuses so needs care when replacing. So I would start with inspecting this fuse first and all the others. Are you not a breakdown club member as these guys generally would be able to sort the problem?

Nice to see some people really have tasteful looking cars - NOT ! Don't Porsche paint their alloys orange for their trackday cars ? Whoever buys this clearly is a major attention seeker or they are devoid of size in some body areas. And I'll say no more :-)

I own a Porsche 911 and a few years ago, Porsche doubled the cost of their very comprehensive warranties from £900 to £1800 - I read on some 911 forums about owners having to make claims for expensive jobs and Porsche UK clearly didn't want to pick up the cost. Seems as cars get more technology and gadgets, they are becoming a much more risky ownership proposition. I am now enjoying my LS430 now that it's rid of some previous issues relating to the steering and suspension. They have cost a lot of time and money to put right but it's been worth it. It's also nice to be getting compliments from other drivers who know their cars and know how awesome these cars are - this is what owning a Lexus LS is all about in my opinion :-)

I've got one of them as well....found mine about 2 years ago...drivers footwell.....it holds the water pipes that go into the heater assembly, very hidden away.....mines been fine and no doubt your will also. The nylon must harden and become brittle after years of hot and cold expansion no doubt.

normally two sensors on top of the dash are auto lights and solar sensor for the A/C

It may be the ejector seat retaining clip ....

I think its the driving position that is the secret to the success of 'SUV's. Once you've driven a car with a high position which is at just the right height to get in and out of, its very difficult to go back to a normal saloon that you have to bend down and duck your head to get into. We first bought a Honda Stream 10 years ago (MPV) and my wife has refused to go back to a low car ever since. The fact that the RX/X5/Q3 cars accelerate like a jet also helps a lot :)

Another vouch for Amayama here, ordered stuff from them before and had great service, much cheaper than UK and US prices, even with shipping and import duty!

I did mine, took them to a tire place and got the tire off, best to clean and paint the inner rim where the tire bead seals, or you will get leaks later. I used a primer and a darker silver- gunmetal grey, as the car was maroon, then a clear coat. Not a small job, as Phil says, it's all down to the preparation. I used an old alternator clamped in a workmate so I had a revolving wheel at a good working hight. End result look excellent

No need to apologise. Anyway, you can't be Victor Meldrew as well, I became him years ago! Just remember, if you alter the transmitter, press the button, and suddenly find people around you are wearing top hats, and the children have sticks and hoops, and everything is in black and white, you've gone too far with it!!

If you chance a second hand one make sure there are no white patches around the edges A sure sign the screen is delaminating.

Well, not the best advert I've ever seen, and not much detail about service history, but if you could get that for around a thousand, and it checks out when you go to pick up and pay, then a reasonable buy probably. Did you check his feedback though? Little bit offputting imo. Personally, I'd wait for better/nearer to crop up, unless you're not in a position to wait.

Astute indeed. And as all LS owners know, a wonderfully comfortable place to be. They also owned a large luxury SUV but preferred to use the Lexus for long journeys...............of course.
