  1. I've had 2 mk3 gs300's and to be honest nothing went wrong apart from 2 things, well it needed brake pads and discs and 1 sticky calipers. And that's it. Superb cars

  2. GS300’s are a superb car. Not much to go wrong. Quiet, quick and reasonable mpg. Even the SE’s have loads of kit. High miles not a problem and anyone can service them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Many thanks for checking when the indicator cancels on your car. Sounds as though it's just the same as on mine. Thanks for taking the trouble to find out. I'd be interested to hear from owners of other makes of car to see if I'm right in thinking that indicator cancellation works properly on other makes. My guess would be that much of the Lexus development was aimed at the American market, where until recently I believe they had hardly any roundabouts. So no-one would have noticed the indicators cancelling too soon as you went round the roundabout. Maybe the same is true of Japan. If other owners can confirm that this is an oddity unique to Lexus, maybe I could start a new thread to campaign for Toyota/Lexus to fix the problem. I know it's only an irritation but there's no need for the irritation to be there at all. It's just bad design.

  4. Yep the first one was a bit of a dog to fit as it kept on slipping out the channel when hitting the prescribed 'strike points' but after doors 3 and 4 they were on like a flash

  6. The LS is a more complex beast, which although ultra reliable can cost plenty if it does go wrong. The forum is very quiet at the moment so answers may be a bit slow.

  7. Hi chaps, thanks for that. I thought it was just my pc. Yes Peter, all of my other sites are fine too. Before posting my query, I had in fact uploaded my new photo but, I am having great difficulty in repositioning/saving it to the proper position. Perhaps it's because of the problems with the site at the moment. I will give it another try later. Thanks again for trying to help.

  8. I really liked what you did to the grill. And for those that have not seen your car in the flesh, I can verify that it looks lovely. I truly believe that many of the mods you will / have carried out, depict what the ISF should have been in the first place. The stock design is far too understated. Having said that, I’m a ******* cook and therefore I wouldn’t alter a recipe designed by a professional chef. Likewise I am not artistic, so I wouldn’t t attempt to change something designed by a professional car designer. In addition to this limitation, changing a lightbulb is a major job for me, so carrying out mods is as big a challenge as climbing Everest 😀 I admire the work - keep it up.

  9. This thread makes me want to American. I love trump and want a gun and want to live in the deep south and lose all my teeth and blow stuff up (best American impression)

  10. Well I tried an experiment today and was quite suprised by the result. If I indicate right and turn my steering wheel 90° to the left then the indicator turns off. The same happens indicating left and steering wheel to the right 90°. I have also noticed there is No mechanical click noise to state indicator turned off. I've not noticed a detant. The system must be electronic. I don't think there is a fault with your car. It's just how it is however bizarre it is.

  12. They are the H&R DRS system 30mm (15mm each side) Trak+ kit. @art number 30656014 You need two sets, they come with the new lug bolts in the box. Eibach do a kit too but I've always used H&R so you sticks with what you knows! About £90 a set.

  13. Like with most thing, you have to like that sort of thing to start with to appreciate it fully. I can certainly see why, if you didn't like Clarkson, Hammond and May then it would be annoying. It is a bit hit and miss at the moment, but I can imagine it is pretty difficult coming up with fresh and interesting segments after all this time.

  14. I reckon this one will get divided views! I know there are a lot of purists on here but as a long term modifier of all things automotive it was only a matter of time before the ISF came under the knife. Fear not Big Rat, all original parts have been kept for prosperity (and the next owner)! Not the best weather for a photo shoot but anything to avoid wrapping presents! So, here is my 2009 ISF with the following mods, some close ups of the most recent additions will follow; Rear High Level Roof-line Spoiler in Body Colour, H&S Cat Back Exhaust with X-Pipe, HPS Intake Elbow, K&N Drop-In Filter, Tein H-Tech Springs (Only the Fronts fitted giving a 25mm drop -front and rear tyre gap now matches ), H&R Spacers Front and Rear (15mm widened track each side), Tom's Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser, Novel Carbon Fibre Duct Panels, Black Plasti-Dipped Front Main Grill. I've also got the CF fog light trims, Auto-Technic CF Splitters and a Wald Style Rear Spoiler (in Body Colour) to go an in Mid-Jan when I get the front bumper resprayed. I'll also be relocating the front number plate then. Enjoy! (or maybe despise.... the choice is yours!)

  15. I drop her off at the door (my wife that is, not yours!) and then go and park. A compromise that she is happy with. Also, by the time I've parked she's already started the shopping which reduces my time in the shop!

  16. Do you mean this Geoff? sounds like rubbing your stomach and patting your head lol .) Ignition off, doors closed 2.) Hold the wiper switch in the full up position. (this is the wiper off position) 3.) While holding the wiper switch in the full up position, turn the IG on. (two presses of the start/stop switch) 4.) Hold wiper switch in the full up position for 5 seconds 5.) Move the wiper switch down one "click" or "notch", hold for 5 seconds 6.) Move the wiper switch back to the full up position, hold for 5 seconds 7.) Move the wiper switch down one "click" or "notch". hold for 5 seconds (same position as step 5) 8.) Move the wiper switch back to the rest position (neutral) If this was done correctly, the right turn signal will flash once. To adjust how many flashes you want, you change the intermittent wiper speed switch. P1 starts with the speed switch all the way at the bottom, P4 will be the top speed. This is found on the wiper stalk. P1: 3 blinks P2: 5 blinks P3: 7 blinks P4: Function turned off Set the intermittent wiper speed to the desired setting. Use the Turn Signal stalk and push down like you want to activate the left turn signal, the flashers should activate If the turn signal blinks once, you change it to the "3 flashes" setting If the turn signal blinks twice, you changed it to the "5 flashes" setting If the turn signal blinks three times, you changed it to the "7 flashes" setting If the turn signal blinks four times, you turned the function off. Once this is done, cycle the ignition switch off, and back on, and it should be changed.

  18. Last month my LS 460 marked its 10th anniversary. I bought it 5 years ago - it now has about 80,000 miles on the odometer - and thought this would be a good time to reflect on my ownership experience. I had, previously, owned an LS 400 for 15 years and would like to think I can keep this machine for a similar length of time. I did consider an LS 600 but decided that the extra complications presented by the hybrid set-up might be too costly in the future. I found the transition from 400 to 460 very easy. They are, however, different in a few ways. We all agree that the engineering on the 400 is second to none, and that it is a wonderfully quiet and smooth automobile. The 460 is NOT as quiet, mine has the 19" wheels which I would not recommend. It is still a very quiet car. The seats are not as robust as the 400 because they are heated and air-conditioned. After 10 years, my leather still looks like new. It has air suspension with 3 settings. I find it very comfortable although the 19" wheels mean that it doesn't 'waft' like the 400. The 400 was very well equipped, electronically, for its day - and the 460 is a natural progression. However, I think that some of the features are a waste of time: the Self Parking for instance.......I never use it. If you read the US Lexus Forum you would think that the 460 has lots of problems......the air suspension, wind noise, upper and lower steering links etc. I have my car serviced at my local Lexus dealer, here, in Holland. Apart from the annual service I have only had 2 problems; a shattered wheel bearing, caused by an evil road in Scotland (during my annual visit) and a glitch in the parking computer which caused my steering wheel to sit 'off-centre'. The 460 has electric steering and a computer re-set fixed the problem. I had to have a new battery in 2015 - replaced free because it was still under warranty - and then another one 2 months ago (again replaced free). When I took my car in for its service last week they did some investigating. Here, on the Continent, there is a lively 'trade' in stolen, nearly new, luxury cars - which usually end up in Eastern Europe or Russia. Some insurance companies insist that new high-end cars have a 'Track and Trace' device fitted. This involves a monthly subscription and most owners stop paying the subscription after about 2 years. The device, however, is still fitted and hot-wired to the battery. The power drain is the equivalent of leaving the boot light on. The dealer found the problem and disconnected the device. I did not have to pay for this......they want to stop giving me free batteries :) The Service Manager is an acquaintance of mine and gives me lots of good information. There are very few LS 460/600s in Holland but, as far as problems go, here is what he has told me: they have changed 2 air struts on a 600 which had 200,000 miles on it. Steering links; one so far - at 150,000 miles. They do have computer glitches which require a system re-set. Remember I said I had chosen a 460 over a 600? They haven't changed a 600 hybrid battery ever! The dealer is a combined Toyota/Lexus franchise - separate receptions, workshops and, of course, far better biscuits in the Lexus coffee room :) They have only changed a handful of hybrid batteries, and only on the early model Prius. Perhaps I was too hasty opting for the 460 over the 600. I know that, as LS owners, we are fiercely loyal to our cars. Unfortunately your 400s, 430s and, indeed my 460, will eventually become uneconomical to keep. Moving up the LS ladder isn't a problem!

  19. Interesting review. My 460 is 10 years old. Serviced only by Lexus Carlisle from new and I am the second owner. I travel from Yorkshire to have it's annual service because the dealer is outstanding. One rear drive shaft and one rear air ride suspension strut replaced, both under extended warranty at around 65000 miles. Very surprised that one of my rear struts failed at this mileage. In fairness the drive shaft was replaced due to a split gaiter and not failure of the CV joints. 19 out 20 possible extras were specified by the first owner, around 14 of them within the 3 major upgrades you could opt for and they all work or are in first class condition. I too considered a 600 but held back because I couldn't find a 4 seat version with the Rear Relaxation Pack and a detailed battery history. However I think my caution was unjustified regarding the battery pack as replacing the hybrid battery is as common as hen's teeth. Still looking but very rare to find in my price range.
