Its easy to comment in hindsight to a situation but when you paid your £700 I am assuming that they did not give you an invoice with a breakdown of what they did and how they arrived at the figure. Probably too late to ask now but bear it in mind as an invoice is a statement of fact as to the charges they have made for their labour,, parts and VAT if added. It also identifies the party (usually unless its a nudge nudge no VAT wink wink) and therefore makes suing more likely to be successful. I once went to a local Garage with a Merc which used to cut out. I took a Brand new fuel pump and left it with them. A few days later I discovered they'd parked the Car in the street and closed for the weekend leaving the fuel pump dripping fuel on to the road. I had to put a bucket with sand under the car and pray nobody dropped a ciggy butt. They said they had fixed the Car and I told them they had not. When I returned It only got a hundred yards away before it died on me. They then told me to call back in a few days and once again said it was fixed and wanted £250 or wouldn't let the Car go. I paid them and barely got it home before it died again. I regretted not insisting on an invoice and later discovered they had not replaced the fuel pump at all. Asked for it back they said they couldn't find it. I did resolve the issue which was actually a faulty Relay but I resented paying them to do something which frankly they didn't do. The Garage changed hands a week or so later and they were gone!!

Is the Gold one for sale at Lichfield one of those three? Only 113k miles but has not been MOT'd for over a year and rust seems to be the trouble. - perhaps it was a car that suffered in those floods a couple of years back. Lots of MOT advisories when last passed, in 2013 I think. Is on ebay with photo's six hundred. Looks nice but the underside and no doubt other things?

Do you only do short runs? Have you used injector cleaner lately? ps What brand of Rad did you purchase, so others know what not to buy. For my 400 I have a Nissens which I bought off ebay and yet to decide if to fit. Seemed to have good feed back on the product. Made in Denmark/Sweden or somewhere.

Here's an afterthought - I have a spare key which I keep as my original is damaged. In the drawer where its kept I noticed an ear plug. I tried to open the spare key but even though the screw was removed it didn't seem to want to budge and I didn't want to break it, so not tried this. My thinking was that you may be able to modify a plug by cutting off below the first cap leaving a short stem to reach the contact point. ps from China so not quick delivery http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10PCS-Safety-Soft-Silicone-Corded-Ear-Cor-Reusable-Hearing-Protection-Ear-Plugs-/401144565984?hash=item5d661450e0:g:qAkAAOSweW5VIzgg

MOT time

ITS GOOD NEWS WEEK (though some may not concur with that sentiment!) Passed the MOT this morning with only Advisory, Rusty rear springs and slight oil leak. Had new springs sat in house for more than a year and leak most probably from power steering though changed the rubber washer below the Reservoir. Oil change tomorrow will ask Indy to check if leaking from elsewhere. -
Just changed the Aeros as you reminded me that a new set have been in my boot for twelve months and MOT end of this month. For the drivers side you will have a problem with Aeros because the Wiper is a double arm. The clip that normally hides everything has to be hacked about bit to fit. The one I have just fitted was not for for a Lexus I think (hadn't noticed box had been re-sellotaped) Anyway fitted but this one had a cover which ran from end to end and so I had to cut away one side twhere the second arm attaches. Sounds worse than it is but fiddly job. ps Rocking pivot supplied with Aeros

My originals (?) which I still carry in the Car are 21inch drivers side and and 16 inch Passenger. However I have Aero blades on at the moment which are 22 inch and 16 inch end to end. Cost £6 or thereabouts on t'bay. The Aeros for the drivers side needed a bit of tweeking to make it fit whereas the "original" Mortocraft or Valeo has a rocking pivot. I think the Aero on the passenger side fitted without any fuss.

I changed mine a while back for Brisk and changed the Leads at the same time. Not sure that the leads were a good buy as one snapped easily when putting the cover over the RHS. Had to re-use previous Lead. I did notice a slight brown staining on perhaps two plugs around where the Ceramic part touches the steel thread piece. Moisture /condensation can sometimes gain access to plugs,(shorting?) so I was told. They were the plugs nearest to the Bulkhead. Otherwise the plugs were probably original and looked in good shape as regards burn.

I bet George and Stella don't get treated to a ride in your LS460 ? -
I read this thread and thought thats not the way I used to understand the procedure. Checked in my old "AA Book of the Car" and comment says "press the Brake pedal to the Floor and let it return". Pretty certain thats what I did many many Moons ago if I had to bleed brakes. Did once have to replace a Master cylinder on my Austin Ambassador (wedge shaped very comfortable Car) which failed whilst driving it, fortunately with no incident occuring as handbrake still operational. Will bear your advice in mind should I ever want to get my hands dirty again - (unlikely!!)

If I wanted another car (and I was almost tempted for some inexplicable reason) then I would have definately bid on this Car which did not meet its reserve. Frankly, its peanuts to pay for a Car of such quality. Over 60 photos, so you may want to consider it and contact the seller? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS400-V8-MK4-Automatic-Long-MOT-Service-History-Excellent-Condition-/322123058091

The guys sent me exactly the same panel as I queried as being a badly designed pattern. So, I've had to run with it and made a few changes and stuck it in place. On reflection perhaps I should have cut away more of the area around the CD, Tape etc buttons and also the Radio buttons as there is a bit of sticking. I was hoping not to have to cut away too much but pehaps if I'd cut out a lot and exposed the descriptions it would have been guaranteed not to cause any sticking problems. Where I've added a cut out bit here and there I've used matt black paint to blend /hide the cuts. The round buttons freely turn after the far left (which had been cut smaller) was made larger.
