  1. Both my IS and then my NX sounded like an even more decrepit me getting out of bed then I tried to inch along in stop start traffic. Pads removed, cleaned, lubed and discs cleaned, sorted it for a few days then the noise returned. Now I just make weird faces when the groaning/creaking noise starts..
  2. Had a wheel on my IS sorted by a local company last year, it came to £110. They did make a good job matching up the colour.
  3. A severe scowl from my other half usual cures wind noise for a while 🤡
  4. I think you will have to do a complete scan of the frequencies, sorry but I can't remember what the steps are..
  5. Mudflaps are around the £95 mark supplied but not fitted. Fitting is a doddle, takes about half an hour.
  6. Just had a quick check of my MPG according to the dash readout. 🤣😄😅 If only it was true..
  7. Brakes grunt on the NX as well, I've got to the stage where I can make the noise in slow traffic just to annoy the pedestrians..
  8. Just a small bit of info on the parking/hold feature. The parking brake is operated by electric motors on the rear calipers, but the hold feature keeps the hydraulic foot brake pressurised to stop the vehicle moving. You can notice the difference when you use them. When the hold feature operates, the car just sits normally, same as when the foot brake is operated, but if you use the parking brake, the back of the car dips slightly as the rear wheels are held, but the front ones are not. Clear as mud or a political statement....
  9. Engine drives the rear wheels and the tarmac drives the front wheels 😃
  10. That's how he noticed the damage to the wheel, he was neil n down at he time 😂🤣😅
  11. You hardly notice them due to the wheel arches and door bottoms being black plastic.
  12. I painted and installed the door mouldings myself, a fairly easy job as they came with full instructions and measurements, plus I had already done them on my previous IS. For the mudflaps, the dealer added them free, but I paid for fitting, anyway they are very simple to fit, just a couple of screws and plastic clips. The door edge protectors, which you can't see in these pics, took about 10 mins to fit, measure up against the door and tap them on with a rubber mallet. Any other questions, just ask away..
  13. Dan, here are a couple of pics, not brilliant quality but it'll give you an idea inc the mudflaps.
  14. Standard Lexus items, but the NX ones come unpainted. I just gave mine several coats of primer, colourcoat and lacquer. Cleaned up the door panels, marked them up and popped them on. I'll try and get a pic once the weather clears up..
  15. Didn't get Lexus to do the coating, I used Dominion Detailing in Edinburgh, he does excellent work at good prices. Not much help to you as it'd take hours to get to him..
  16. I had my IS and my sons GT86 done with Koche Chemie a few months after getting them. All they needed was a good wash, decontaminate and a couple of swirls polished out. Coating applied and ready for the road the next day. For the NX, it was Gyeon that went on the paintwork, seems to work just as good as Koche Chemie. Price wise, all three cars came in around the £300 mark and have lasted well. Not sure if you're interested, but I've fitted colour coded door edge guards and body side mouldings, if you look in the pics in my account you can see them on the IS. Have a look here for more info. 17. As Nemesis says, see what kind of freebie you can get, but I wouldn't pay for the likes of Supagard as it's pretty useless and is vastly overpriced, product costs a few quid and the rest is profit between the person applying it and the salesman. Check out what detailing places are near and go for one of the high tech coatings, plus I would recommend GTeqniq glass coating for the windows. Anything above 30-40mph in the pouring rain and all you need is the wipers on the lowest intermittent setting.
  18. Do a search for ABS reconditioning for VWs, they should be able to give you an idea if it's possible and the costs. From what I remember, VW want about £1800 for a new pump, but some places can refurbish them for less than have the VW price..
  19. Prospective buyers shout Hallelujah!!!!!😛😛
  20. That's fairly normal nowadays with the disc and pad materials. Any moisture at all will cause rust to stick the pad to the disc. Next time you wash your car, just have a look at the speed surface rust shows up on the discs, it can take as little as half an hour.. luckily the rust is cleaned off within a couple of brake application.
  21. I had mine done way way up here in Edinburgh by Dominion Detailing, a one man business who does very good work. For the paintwork and wheels, it came to about £250 inc a couple of small blemishes polished out. Dropped the car off in the morning and collected it the next afternoon. I coated the glass myself, pretty easy to do. You have to clean off the residue once the coating has dried. The residue cleaner quantity from GTeqniq is barely enough to finish the job, but you can finish it of with glass cleaner. I would scout around and see who comes up with the best deal.
