  1. Would I be wrong in saying it's a Camry with a posh interior and not a GS replacement?
  2. I always look under the Saab to see if it's dropped any oil. And the Honda. Never on the Lexus though.
  3. I assume you'll be straightening the oil filler cap when you've finished?
  4. Similar situation when I had my GS. No one seemed able to get it right until I went to a place round the corner that races MX-5s. They got out the string and did it properly.
  5. I can talk openly about it now because Freda found out yesterday.
  6. Lights on when you're out or away and doors locked when you're in on your own. I always leave upstairs landing lights and/or bedroom lights on if we're away. No one knows they're on during the day but give the impression there's someone upstairs at night. And bulbs are pennies to run, why bother with a timer? There's also an outside light at the back that's always on at night. In fact our house is rarely in darkness at all. A habit I got into when we had kids so if any of them get up they're not stumbling around in the dark. One of the neighbours is frequently away and their house might as well have a big "Burgle Me!" sign over it. Locked doors because in our last house we had chancers opening the back door even when I was sat in the living room.
  7. They're designed to take a flat head screwdriver. Just pop one that fits into the slot and ease it out. Very easy out and in. Alternatively one of those forked trim tools under the head of the plug. But I tend to use a screwdriver.
  8. Tell you what Zak, I'll swap the intake trim and the battery casing for the little bits of black plastic trim either side of the bottom of your bumper. I think everyone here will agree that's a very fair offer 😈
  9. So in case anyone can help Zak out it's this one https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/lexus-europe/ls400/UCF20R/5092/body/7402/74489 There is a casing that goes round the battery too and they're usually missing and/or knackered. I got lucky and raided @steve2006's garage for both bits.
  10. I don't have one so don't get your hopes up (!), but which bit do you mean? The casing that goes around the battery or the trim that attaches to the side of the intake and is positioned in front of the battery? There's no actual cover for the top of the battery.
  11. Good news. Hopefully you'll daily it. They're like nothing else from that era.
  12. Do you still have the Celsior in your profile? The one I linked to goes under my LS400 and I've lifted from the front more than once. The jack is all the way under the car so the handle is pretty horizontal but these jacks are quick lift anyway so it only takes a couple of short lifts and the car is up.
  13. Seconded for SGS. I bought this one about a year or so ago. Superb quality, very substantial. Delivery guy nearly had a hernia getting it off the van.
  14. I gave you a "Thanks" in case no one else responds to this post.
  15. It's a very sad situation. It's close with my 83 year old father.
  16. I think an awful lot of branded roof bars are Thule manufactured. The Volvo/Thule ones I have fitted my XC90, RX and a Skoda Kodiaq we hired last year. Unfortunately they didn't fit the V70 as they weren't wide enough. Bought some cheap standard "square" ones for that job but they were noticeably louder. These are what fitted my RX.
  17. My go to is usually a coloured Sharpie but I'd guess your RX didn't cost 1500 quid and look like it was dragged through a hedge backwards But they are precise and last well. But I'm guessing you'd want a touch up? Never been that impressed with the Lexus kits even if the colours are available so I've bought a few from Paints4U based in Grimsby I believe. They'll do anything with the paint code and for about a tenner you get paint, lacquer and best of all 3 or 4 double ended very narrow applicators rather than a brush. Like a very paired down cotton bud. Perfect for chips. Most recently for the LS. Moonstone Pearl unavailable from Lexus but Paints4U found it from the paint code as a Toyota colour.
  18. I've got a pair of Volvo branded Thule bars that I used on my 2006 RX400h. Fitted perfectly as they had sprung ends. Similar to these but just older. May be worth searching for Wing Bars second hand. Hope that helps.
  19. It was at this point I put my hand over my mouth. We've all done daft stuff. I have a habit of forgetting I've chocked the rear wheels when I've had a car up on ramps. I've spat the ramps out from under the front more than once. Once forgot to tighten the wheel nuts up on a Beetle after I'd nipped up the drums too. Got about 500 yards before the wheel came off.
