Dashcam Recommendations
DarkKnight replied to DarkKnight's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Thank you both for your replies. I will look into BlackVues, but they do seem a bit pricey. I was looking at the VIOFO A129 with dual cameras, would that be a good option? Can see it has good reviews. How are you finding this dashcam? And did you get it fitted professionally? -

Paul hi. I found parking up on the Main Dealer forecourt, presenting yourself ( walking stick in hand ), say late morning but before lunchtime, might generate some sense of empathy from the MD who will sit you down with a coffee and have a chat …… from which they will simply say YES 👏 Try it and see 👍 Malc they might say NO but empathy is on your side methinks !

So went to see car not what I expected car was badly scratched up and so many stone chips and deep scratches which when asked apparently car was up to Lexus standard on all aspects. for 28k miles 2 owners didn’t seem right looked more of a 6 owner car. On the hunt again… -

I got a call from Lexus Leeds before I got the Lexus letter. I'm booked in for next week for the 2nd key fob to be programmed. This will be exactly 3 months since collection of the car. -

No it isn't true. Only the bonnet is an Aluminium Steel alloy, all other body panels are steel. Even if it was true, with the correct primer and paint you would achieve consistent colour - otherwise every new car would have been rejected for poor paint. The fact is that metallic silver is very difficult to match. The vehicle in question had a cheap respray by only doing a single panel rather than a more expensive blending across multiple panels to hide the slight colour differences.- 1 reply

Black does look amazing but to get the max benefit you need to dechrome your car and swap the reflectors for tinted or smoked ones, Ive had some HCmotion V1's for 2 years and my inner left tail light has just failed so I may end up replacing with red ones instead to look OEM plus

Check tyre pressure? Increasing a few psi over the recommended pressure might help too. -

Yes Ronnie I too noticed it But Prior to it going belly up i had it working perfectly . it was a faff to get it up and running but i persevered and it all came together. But as you rightly said the last update sent it into a spiral and is no longer working. Lexus UK is investigating after I wrote To Mr Chris Hayes ( I think that is name) I have Samantha on my case but the CarPlay unit as worked flawlessly so i may resign it to the bin -
They got wise to the frequency of battery issues early on most likely. I think I may have lucked out for now as after several days on a Ctek 800xs, the voltage seems to be back up (12.7v) in Accessory mode without dropping off rapidly anymore. I am closely monitoring and intend to put the trickle charger on as often as possible. The instructions state negative on a metal body part and positive on the battery terminal. When charging in the boot, which bit of bodywork are people using, or is it safe to simply clip both negative and positive terminals directly? At the moment I am charging on the metal rail on the engine (negative) and the positive terminal in the fuse box. Setting up is a bit of a faff, so looking for a quicker plug and go option.

I’m afraid I can’t help with the name of an alternative supplier to Lexus itself for a new bumper but, to judge by what appears to be the limited area of the damage, don’t you think a good body shop could do an acceptable filling and repainting job?

Just to let you know, I managed get it all sorted. Turns out the sealant they botched it with hadn't been cured, so removing the old stuff and redoing it properly allowed me to fit the struts you linked! Also, managed to get the bluetooth installed which I am very happy with so far. So with that all sorted, I took it to the garage. The noise from the back right is the wheel bearing, as suspected, and the coolant hoses are deteriorating so will be getting that sorted in a few weeks. However, I am having a slight issue/bit of confusion when it comes to sourcing the parts though. From what I can tell, the part number is either 42410-50010 or 42410-50030. On the LexusPartDirect it's listed as 42410-50030 but everywhere else I am looking, it is appearing as 42410-50010 like here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355680896303 or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135074839595 Does anyone know the difference between the parts (if any)? Thanks!

Quotes coming in at around £2300. Thank you Insurance cartels for screwing over the motorist again and exploiting us just to pay your shareholders even more than last year. You lot should be even more heavily regulated and your accounts scrutinised and your executives made to take a pay or bonus cut.... I'm not cross am I?
