  2. With labour and parts prices in local garages seeming to go up rapidly with inflation, it is refreshingly nice to see that the main dealer fixed services prices are somewhat stuck in time (yes, I know it's still a lot of £, but hear me out). I looked here on old threads from 2015-206, and Lexus dealers were asking £600 for the IS250 60k service (the big one). I asked my local Lexus dealer how much it would cost today (May 2024) and what was included, and I was fairly surprised they quoted £580 inc VAT. Considering the change of spark plugs, brake fluid, oil, + various filters, I don't think this is too shabby compared with my usual village garage. I got a quote from my mechanic to do all the above jobs alone at £566, this doesn't include al the inspections carried at the dealer. Below is what is included in the 60k service of the IS250; some stuff obviously not applied as the car is not a hybrid: The 60K service includes: · Carry out 60K/72 month full service as per schedule. · Includes:- Replace engine oil & oil filter. · Replace windscreen washer fluid. · Check all fluid levels & top up as required. · Inspect battery electrolyte, cleanliness & security. · Inspect cooling system, hoses & connections. · Inspect radiator & condenser for debris & signs of damage. · Inspect inverter coolant. · Inspect engine coolant. · Inspect air filter element. · Replace spark plugs. · Inspect charcoal canister. · Replace brake fluid. · Inspect brake pads & discs. · Check brake pipes and hoses. · Inspect fuel cap, fuel lines & connections. · Inspect steering wheel, gear & linkages. · Inspect drive shafts including CV boots. · Inspect ball joints & dust covers. · Inspect wheel bearings. · Inspect wheel alignment. · Inspect front & rear suspension. · Inspect for under vehicle and under hood fluid leaks. · Check exhaust system for security & leaks. · Check all tyre pressures (including spare if equipped). · Check wheel rims for damage & tighten wheel nuts to correct torque. · Check operation of hand brake. · Check brake pedal travel. · Check operation of lights, horns, wipers & washers. · Check function of all warning lights. · Inspect glass and light lenses. · Replace pollen filter. · Check seat belts for damage & operation. · Check operation of alarm system. · Check installation of driver's floor mat. · Replace remote control battery. · Carry out hybrid health check. · Reset OMMS. · Carry out wash & vacuum. · Carry out visual safety report.
  3. Had Yokohama Sports fitted by Lexus at £180 a corner all in which were my choice based upon the same tyre that was fitted to a previously owned Mazda CX5. No complaints so far after 3k miles.
  4. Hi Gordon - thanks for that. The dog guard is rock solid and doesn't rattle. It anchors on to the lower luggage hook securing bolts and into the parcel shelf slots at either end. Tim

  6. When purchased new 18 months ago they cost £284. I am looking for £150 to let them go.
  7. The Lexus manual in my opinion is pretty poor. The so called index finds nothing most times, you have to wade through all the likely looking sections before you find, by chance, what you want. Even in a printed document these days, electronic searches at the publishing stage should produce a comprehensive contents section. Bill D.
  8. Get it back to the dealer. I had repeated problems from new with clicking and not locking in place and had to keep taking the cable in/out to get it to work. It was a right faff. At first, the dealer said there was not a problem but months later admitted they had problems with their demo cars. To cut a very long story short, they eventually changed the socket and I haven't had a problem since. The fact that it took 7 months to acknowledge the problem and fix it is the most annoying thing.
  9. Got one of the first Jap bikes sat in the garage and must sell this year - a Yamaha 200 Twin electric start. It and others killed off the leaky oil Brit bikes. Had a few Bikes ten years back best being a Honda VFR FJ but too heavy for me. Unable to ride bikes now.
  10. I have always found that dealers put higher tyre pressures in, as they do with higher oil level, a less desirable habit than higher tyre pressure I would have thought. Your tyre pressures will increase will increase/decrease anyway with ambient temp and running friction. Gas density wiil increase by ratio of absolute temperature if the gas is constrained in a vessel, this is why pressure increases. A tyre as a vessel is elastic so probably not to the same extent as a relatively rigid vessel. If free to expand it will of course decrease in density by inverse ratio of absolute temperatures. Just returned from a 900 mile holiday from Somerset to Norfolk, 56.3 mpg, temperature as we know not too high so a few more degrees would have probably gained another couple of mpg. Bill D.
  11. I also just got a rz Takumi for 2 years because the lease deal was amazing. £460 month with 3 months upfront and 10k miles a year. It's a great car and so far averageing 3.5m/kwh. Definitely worth it as I'm finding the positives far out way the negatives
  12. I went to the Lexus terms and conditions for their 10 Year Warranty, validated by annual service. Shockingly, the Multimedia screen and buttons are excluded from the warranty - see attached extract. Hopefully this only applies to physical failing of the screen and that it would still be covered if there was an inherent software problem.🤞🤔 I hope to never find out1
  13. If you have got the service history check with the dealer where the last service was undertaken as they would have probably done the work. It may also be recorded in the online service history.
  14. Thank you so much for your detailed reply, I really appreciate it! It be parked in a garage front in but there is enough room to jump start if needed. My battery did go flat a year ago as I didn’t drive it for probably 2 months. The AA charged it enough for me to drive it to a Lexus garage nearby to replace the battery. I bought a Noco Genius 1 U.K. from Amazon. I will check to make sure which battery type it is. Thank you again for all the invaluable tips. I really would be pretty clueless without your help!
  15. With 134k on the clock 9k is too much money to be honest. Not many potential buying will take a punt on that mileage, which is all wrong as mechanically they a good for 250k but in the UK it’s the corrosion to the underside components that’s the killer ! Prices have dropped since I purchased mine 🙄, 10k should buy a good car with sensible mileage and all the mechanical bits serviced now. All the 13k examples on AT are just collecting dust.
  16. It is very annoying when you get a rattle or noise. I had a really annoying front suspension squeak on a Ford Mondeo years ago. It was a lovely car (GhiaX) but just had to go not long after!!
  17. I visited Lexus Sheffield as I was worried about the thefts of ES models. Although the protection plate available is not made to fit the ES, they made slight alterations to it and fitted it free of charge. I also use a Disklok and a retractable driveway post for additional protection and so far the scumbags have not tried to overcome my efforts.
  18. Hi Malc1 my Lexus is actually 325000 miles not 330k as I stated on previous posts. Next expense is getting paint work sorted 😬😬😬.
  19. Without any doubt, the Disklok is the most secure available and has the Police approved Sold Secure accreditation.
  20. hi, I tried to upgrade my 2019 nx 300h...I am stuck at Installing DCU MAIN" phase (DCU (REPRO) Vup Completed. However now my problem is that it seems that the car will not recognise the USB stick any more. I tried with a couple of usb drives but it is the same, the upgrade will not continue. Any idea?
  21. If it smokes white, (more than condensation) it's most likely going to be your head gasket as it burns coolant. Common problem on this diesel.
  22. On the RZ, the current trims in the UK are (in order) Premium, Premium Plus, then Takumi. As you move up, you get a higher specification and more features in the car. On other Lexus models, there’s often a trim below Premium that’s the base trim - often without a name, but more recently called “Urban”. Lexus have said they’ll be introducing an Urban grade on the RZ later in 2024. On other models you also get F Sport versions, which are a more sporty version (different seats / wheels / styling / extras etc.), and depending on the Lexus model there might also be a hierarchy there.
  23. Hello. we have just purchased a red LBX premium and are very pleased with everything. Just one question please. We want to know how many mpg it is doing when travelling along. At the moment it is just showing the immediate figures ie 50mpg when accelerating and then 99mpg when foot is off accelerator. Any advice how to do this in settings please?? advance thanks. paul
  24. Hi. Did you ever figure this one out? I’m having the same problem.
  25. My friend has the Corolla estate a 2022 model I have sat in this Car over many miles with him driving but it sure does not have the comfort level of my ct200, he has the 4th generation drive train in his and usually his MPG is sitting around the 54, I do a lot of short town trips in my CT and get just under 40MPG, however I did a long trip to Birmingham and back a few weeks ago setting the cruise at 75MPH it returned 55MPH over the 700mls the first car I ever owned to get above 50, I guess in real terms and if I had done a brim to brim it would be a couple of miles less than that? anyway over that 700ml journey I found the comfort level of the CT to be superb the seats are near perfect to me perhaps even compares to Volvo seating and I've owned a few of these? When I bought the CT 3 months ago it is a 2018 model I had the option to get a Corolla Hybrid for the same price which was a year younger at the same mileage, the CT is in insurance group 17e with the Corolla in group 19e this would cost me £60 more to insure, I just had to have the Lexus perhaps one of the smartest small hatches on the road at this time, the Corolla in my opinion is a very ugly car both inside and out, this modern trend to have lots of piano black in the interior does not appeal to me, soundproofing is better on the CT than the Corolla, a couple of years ago I downsized from a Honda Accord Ex (perhaps the best car overall I have even driven) to a Yaris, I lived with this for over a year till it got to the point I would avoid driving it I hated this so much, but now I find the CT to have that same feel as a larger luxury car. I think it fair to say I am a happy Ct owner
  26. They should be offering a blanket indemnity/insurance for all owners until this is sorted. On the one hand, I get it - criminals are scumbags who think only of themselves. On the other hand... this is not a new vulnerability in the automotive world - so I can only assume Toyota/Lexus have traditionally escaped because the line up hasn't been that desirable for a lot of theives before, so therefore they have literally just accepted the risk at some stage and pushed ahead. This is exactly what I could see happening when I was deciding whether or not to keep my LC, and given just how long it took to get simple stuff like the windscreen trim in order to replace the screen I had serious doubts as to how they would manage general remediation at scale, let alone prompt and high quality repairs to those who had fallen victim to the scum exploiting their baked in vulnerabilities. /End Rant/
