Girl Drove Into The Back Of My Lexus!

Recommended Posts

Yup, someone drove into the back of my car.

I won't go into detail (don't know whether I'm allowed as it only happened yesterday and so, of course, insurance and such like is all still pending) but basically I stopped, she didn't (18yr old girl in a Ford KA who only passed her test in June).

Car is poorly......see pic below (taken with phone, so bit dodgy) but more pics coming later.

The right wing has moved "out" away from the boot, the bumper (and my quanan sensors GRRRRRRRRRRRRR) are smashed, (quite badly) the boot floor has rippled and creased, and the exhaust has been pushed back so the mountings have broken and the middle pipe has bent (though hopefully nothing up the front has been moved significantly).

She didnf half hit me hard !!!

Well annoyed - it was my bloomin pride and joy. Insurance company has been brilliant, said it's 100% her fault and so i don't even have to pay my excess, they're picking up my car and giving me a courtesy one.....great service (I'm with Direct Line).

My neck chuffing hurts too - went to A&E and they said I've bruised all the muscles around my spine (at the top of my back) and the muscles on each side of my neck (so now I look like a hunch back) and can't turn my neck.

This all happend 0930 yesterday morning when I was......wait for the irony.....on my way to my 3rd IAM meeting. I'm even more annoyed that I missed that !!!!!! damn damn damn damn

Oh well - she was ok no probs at all (though very shaken up), and I'll be alright. On reflection it's a good thing it didn't turn out bad, but even still - the aggrevation of it all, and my pride and joy, and my bloomin neck still doesn't ease my feeling of anger that it all happened.

Like I say, I don't want to go into details cos not sure if I should, but basically I didn't do an emergency stop or anything like that, I was doing 24mph and broke lightly, and she was doing more like 40mph!!! So, I'm happy that I was not at fault at all.

Chin up all......:)

Glad to hear that it wasn't too serious. Really bad luck Tony.

I was surprised to hear that you didn't have to pay any excess. I thought everyone pays initially and then you claim it back.

Anyway, I hope it all gets resolved soon. Have you booked it in anywhere for the repairs?

I was surprosed to reas that you didn't have to pay any excess. I thought everyone pays initially and then you claim it back.

Well normally you are right, and I would have paid a £300 excess......however.....they said that because she shunted me in the rear they have waived it for me as it is 100% without doubt her fault.

Though I wish it never happened in the first place, the way my insurance company has acted truly has been first class. You couldn't have asked for anything more!!!

Thanks for the comments guys....'tis appreciated!!

Just bad luck as they say, and, all things considered, both her and I are ok so it could have been worse!

To be honest, I didn't even consider about my neck. I went to A&E last night, and it was the nurse that said I should make my insurance company aware. SO.....I rang them this morning, and the guy said "Ok, we'll get a solicitor to get in contact with you regarding a personal injury claim"......blimey I thought, I didn't realise that would be their response!!!

So........apparently a solicitor will contact me. Kind of out of my hands.....I've just done what everyone's told me to do !!!!

Sorry to hear about the prang, hope you and the motor recover soon.

I had my motor nicked and recovered in November, with Lexus as we speak and I must admit Tesco / Direct Line have been spot on.

Although I will be interested to see the increase in my premium come renewal :duh: :o

I can heartily recommend Palm Island in the Grenadines.... bliss!

Anyway, hope it all gets sorted quickly and the neck/back heals up ok :)

Thanks again guys...

The neck really is causing me grief now! The car, as annoyed as I am, will get fixed and I'll get a courtesy car. The neck thing though.....yesterday afternoon at work I felt really sick (don't know why), and found it difficult to move at all.

Went to bed at 8 o'clock yesterday night and fell asleep right there and then......woke up this morning

It's just nackered me and I don't know why !!

Never mind, will all be sorted soon.

Here's a couple of pics that I took at the accident site. On reflection, and considering how bloody sore my neck is, these pictures don't do justice for how hard she hit me. I think it will get proven when they start to check further "inboard", i.e. my boot floor pan, maybe even her chassis - who knows.

(These pics were taken at the scene on Sunday morning about 10am)

Oh...check out the gap between the boot lid and the right wing :( :(

My father-in-law works for a solicitors. He's a personal injury specialist. I call him the ambulance chaser! Anyway, he deals with this sort of thing and it'll certainly be worth a couple of grand. Much more if you've been done any lasting damage.
