While waiting patiently in a queue, some fool in front of me reversed back and did this:

This is going to need a new bumper isnt it? How much is that likely to cost all in? The problem is that I'm not entirely sure the other guy was insured because my insurance company said nothin came up on their computer. Also, my excess is £500, so I'm hoping it shouldnt cost more than that.

Any help is much appreciated.

Did you report it to the Police?

I assume to got his car reg details etc. If the car's not stolen then you should be able to trace this guy and get him to cough up. If he's not insured then it could get a bit tricky......

If the other idiot is insured, then all well and good,it should'nt cost you a penny. If hes not then you'd probably be better of giving your insurance company a miss altogether. I am pretty sure a new bumper wont cost £500 smackers. If you posted a thread youd probably find someone has one sat in their garage after upgrading theirs.

if the fixations are not broken, you just have to remove the wheel archliner and push the bumper out, it is urethane so it will go back to its original shape.. You will only need a respray.

thanks for all the replies

spoke to my insurance company, they dont seem to be able to find this guy with any insurance company. so i called the police, and they said he's given me false details. correct area, different street, right first name, wrong surname. however, even tho he has blatantly lied (which the policeman said is an offense) they cannot do anything till my insurance company gets in contact with them directly

great

Sorry to hear that. If he's spouted a correct road etc, sounds as though he's probably local. You might get lucky, spot him and be able to find out his address. If he knows you know where he lives, he might be more willing to cough up.

Could try giving Auto Indemnity a call - I think they specialise in uninsured drivers, hit and runs, false details, etc, etc. Don't know their number but they will be on the web
