When did the service cost go up?

Just dropped off my RCF for a full service & MOT. Full service is now £770!

When did they increase the price?

Only did 3K miles in the past year so it's getting expensive for basically an annual oil change...

Yes I have noticed the sudden increase, like you I only do around 2k a year, it’s in for its 6year service in September, I believe this is a spark plug change so even more expensive although I can’t find this cost on there website.

I suppose the only thing is that your getting a free years warranty which I believe would have been around £700 on the RCF.

£770!  I'll be sat there drinking their coffee and eating whatever they have ALL DAY at that sort of money 🙂

In all seriousness, how long does it take to carry out the service? What's typical hourly rate - £180?

They quoted me  £1,294 for the service plan(1 full & 1 intermediate) but there seems to be no/minimal savings with this plan.

Yes it's the current list price, any saving is predicated on future price rises which given the current inflation rate seem likely.

Takes a while to be fair, the oil can take 30 minutes to drain and it's a long wait drinking tea and eating digestives.

I guess the average age of a Lexus driver is 112. I think Lexus charge loads of money just to shock the driver to keep them awake.

Try owning a CL65 AMG I sold mine just before it's big service an eye watering £3600 way back when. You had to have it serviced at a main dealer so as you qualified for the warranty at about £1900.

My RCF is due the 6 year big service this year as well having only covered 12000 miles in total but I still think that compared to a lot of my past cars the RCF is a cheap car to run.

My LC500 is hugely cheaper to service than my previous Aston DB9. I had that car for 13 years from 2005 and for the first 10 years I used the main dealer with annual bills at about £1,000 to £1200. I eventually used an independent specialist at about £650 per year.

So I shouldn't complain too much about Lexus prices. 😉

Last years intermediate service on my ISF was £322 all in, that was only a int or int+ service though so this year will cost more.

My big 8th service is in next 7 months for RCF but can I ask them to change diff and TVD oil free of additional charge?
Any previous experience with that anyone?

If you want work doing that's not on the schedule that's usually chargeable, if it is on the schedule it's usually part of the service cost.  Some dealers are good though and will try to help out with cost, I.E mine always discount the cost of an air filter on services that should replace it as I have a TOMS panel.

  • 5 months later...

Mines in for the big service today interesting to see what it will cost. Although it's the 72K service mine is just over 12K don't seem to get out much these days.

It doesn't matter how few miles you have done, it will go on the age of the car, Minor and Major services, my car is 6 years old and is booked in for its 6 year / 60k service £770 with 10,800 miles.

The only thing i have noticed is that a few years age the used to add a premium for the 6 year / 60k service because of the spark plug change, i think they have just upped the cost of all the other services to compensate for this.

Mention you are a member of this form and you might get a discount 10% / 15%

Glad it's not just me in 'never use it' club. I'm of the opinion that these Lexus cars aren't that expensive to own anyway and an annual check is always good.

Plus you get a years warranty, which under the old scheme was £1200 a year for my car which wasn't included in the 2 for 1

Not quite as comprehensive but certainly better than nothing. Neither cover trim parts, so not useful for any (all) GS F owners with delaminating carbon fibre interiors.

Not bad though, I remember years ago one of my past AMG's was £1800 per annum for the proper warranty.

I did wonder if the reason the Lexus performance models were so inexpensive for the warranty initially then free was purely and simply they don't seem to go wrong.

I have no issues with not using mine for months then just jumping in it and it starting. Something I could not be comfortable with with past cars despite them being serviced properly.

Stockport. They didn't charge me for the courtesy car this time though!.. Last year they charged me around £15.

That is for optional insurance and not for courtesy car, so you could always decline the "offer". But by doing so you picking-up 500-1000 excess.
