Insurance Quotes

My repost from another topic... it still facinates me that the auto is substantially cheaper to insure than the manual.. anyone else seen this?

"Insurance is weird tho as i found out when looking for my Lex... S/SE/Sport were not too much different in terms of premium (about £35 between the S and the Sport). But the Auto (which I eventually bought) was on average £100 less than the equivalent manual

I'm 25, live in a low risk Postcode, 7 years NCB, no convictions and my premium ended up at £434 with Direct line, although Tesco and Egg were pretty competitive also"

Try elephant.co.uk. Although they'll charge you entra for mods, they won't actually cover them if you were to make a claim....wierd, I know.

A lot of companies won't insure the actual mods. If you have a crash they normally let you take them off before the car is repaired so it's only a big problem if your car is stolen.

Coming from a Nissan 200sx back ground, If you stack a car which has been modded, they're with in there right not to pay out as your driving a higher perfomance car than what you paying for.

I pay £650 FC with Tescos and I'm 22.

Not talking about driving around with undeclared mods.

Some companies like Elephant charge extra for mods to be declared so you are legal and have full insurance. However if a modded part (e.g. alloy) needs replacing then they will only pay for the standard part.

Other companies charge more for adding mods to the policy but will replace like for like in the case of an accident or theft.

Mine worked out at 1k with Direct Line with the mods & protected no claims.

Quote was 585 without the mods or protected no claims.

Any one top £1400. That is the obscene amount i have to pay.

:D Hey... join the grand n' half crew!!!

I thought I was the only person being ripped off!

I'm paying just over 2k with Dorset insurance group for my 12 year old LS400 with no mods and zero no claims bonus!

Most quotes I got were in the region of £3 to £4k.

Guess that's what happens when you give "wanna be gangster" as your occupation :D :D :D
