Guys

I am having to redo my calipers as they didn't turn out the best! There is like chips in the hammerite and it looks lumpy.

This is what I used last time.

Is this what I should have been using?

What other options have people used? ie brands etc

I need to redo them in yellow.

Thanks folks!

Same here - smooth blue on the Lex now silver on my RAV - used thinners this time and it was much easier to paint on :)

I had the same problem mate not knowing which one to use. I didnt think this was the correct one though because i thought it needed to withstand heat and Halfords didnt seem to do caliper paint in black.

In the end i used their own brand high heat paint for engines. Paint went on fine and although it was only friday that i painted them, they look great.

Since I still have more than half the can of yellow Hammerite smooth left I think I will go again with that but prep them better! Is there a way to make the Hammerite thinner to apply?

you don't need to make it thinner mate.

scrub the living daylights out of your calipers with a wire brush, get all the surface crap off.

then thoroughly wash and dry.

should be "golden" then :P

Can you re-coat Hammerite - might just be my poor memory but I always thought you could not re-coat after 8 hours ...
