I agree... Top Gear is turning into some form of Ester Rantzon style programme... how long will it be before they employ some old piano player to make up ammusing songs for teh cars they review

The new IS is not designed as a supercar limited to 155mph, it does not have 400 horses. Lexus have never offered Mr Clarkson a freebie loan car as far as I know and Quentin has/had a LS400 and loved it.

Therefore Mr Clarkson will not like it.

If he was given a 600bhp Trabant or Yugo he would rave over it regardless of the quality.

Assuming they test it and don't just rubbish it in the 'News' section, script will be :

1. Intro explaining the Lexus / Toyota connection. Mention small market share in Europe compared to Germans & Jaguar.

2. 30 secs slagging off the current IS including as many Alan Partridge references as possible.

3. Cursory review of looks, performance etc. Half of the time will be spent on some small detail like the shape of the ashtray or the way the light switch works.

4. Conclusion. Not as good as a B*W 3 and final Alan Partridge comment.

As noted by others, entertainment only.

If you read the Top Gear Magazine at your local newsagents, he calls the LS430 a BMW3 series beater.

This week's Top Gear had the old fart talking about "torques" as though he knew what "torques" was whilst James May referred to the "inter-web"

I think that "torques" thing was to tongue in cheek, as was that "inter-web" reference. The whole program just one big ***** take come to think of it, though sometimes quite ammusing

I don't think Clarkson's that bad, when he's being serious, he usually gives a good analysis of the car. In fact he even said the current IS is quite a good car on many occasions, but then goes on to 'but Alan Partridge has got one so it isn't cool'

I'm quite interested to see what he says, especially after the prices Lexus has come up with

LOL :D :D :D :D and don`t forget it will all be said in that gruff emphasising way!!!!!

Maybe if we all became BMW drivers, we wouldn`t have an issue!!!

He is a buerk, but i like him. :duh:

There will also be a brief mention that Lexus wins every major car ownership satisfaction survey and has done for the past few years. But this will be then be dismissed because "Alan Partridge owns one."

Whats New?

Mr Clarkson has been discussed on here many times - he is not a Lexus fan at all! I would have thought that his minons would have liked it better maybe.

Yep, to be honest, im not expecting him to like it after his stupid comments made on the new Gs.

Guys a ***** off, "yes, the GS is a better car than the Merc or BMW, but what would you rather have...........?"

Bl :tsktsk: dy idiot!

Ain't Clarkson the man who spent silly money on a GT40 which has already broken down on numerous occasions - and has been stolen ?!?

What would he know about reliable, quality cars.

Yeah that was in the Sun, the alarm has never worked right on it so he's flogging it!

He does make me laugh, they looked like they were loving those buggies the other night!

In fact scrub that, he sent it back for a refund!

you guys really shouldnt take it so seriously...

at the end of the day, its a panto, not a serious review..

Clarkson and the little bloke were talking about Jap cars the other week, and mentioned the Lexus.

They said that the problem is that no matter how much you hate the Lexus, it just never breaks down !!

I noticed in another survey Yesterday that the Lexus came up as the 5th most reliable car. Honda was 1st, and Land Rover were last (just the sort of car you want to break down when you're stuck in the wilderness !!)
