While she is very nice, there are a couple of things to consider. Firstly there is NO service history at all despite what the listing says, and there is no proof of the cambelt change either. The engine sounds nice (didn't take it for a test) and the body only has a couple of small white marks on that would polish out. Thought I would let you know in case you were considering it. Also the price on the car is £1695.

A little on the expensive side for a 1993 LS400 in my opinion especially with no service history.

Climate control display has gone by the look of it, non interference engine if the cam belt was to go but really needs doing if there is no documented proof it has been done.

Doesn't say how many previous owners and if there is no service history how can the mileage be warranted?

I paid less than that for my LS (1998) with multipoint LPG and a full history. It did have more miles (around 155k at the time) but I really don't think that matters. I think that one is over priced too.

I agree overpriced. LPG's do tend to be higher mileage simply cos they are cheaper to run hence more use

I would hold on to my cash on this one, my gut feeling says walk away.

Service history is a real key, backs up the mileage and cambelt issue in the book.

You see many Ls400's come through eBay and Auto Trader so good one's come along.

Couple of nice 400's on Auto Trader at moment for £1500 and £1590

I bet you could haggle a few quid off as well.

That's only my opinion though.

I only looked at it as I had to drive past the dealers when I went and picked up little 'un from Uni. so thought I'd pop in and take a look. I too noticed that the aircon display wasn't working and also the electric aerial doesn't retract. Still, the Celsior on a well known auction site finishes tonight, you never know I might be lucky!!. £500 and 19 bids with 8 hours to go. As usual though,I need to sell my current motor before I can get another LS. Anyone want a '92 M******s 300TE..........

There's a 79K Mk4 just been put up on eBay starting £1900, could be a good time to buy with Christmas around not so many in competition for it.

I paid less than £1k for a 1996 LS400 with full service history - admittedly with the last one being an independent rather than a Lexus dealer - with almost everything working. This was from a dealer with a three month warranty included.

"Almost"? Well, the speedometer needle has gone black towards the tip so is a little difficult to see at times. The back-lighting for the heater/aircon controls is very dim at night. The aerial deploys and retracts very slowly indeed and the last 3 or 4 inches does not retract. The drivers' seatbelt is slow to retract and I have to be careful not to trap it in the door.

Apart from that I have had a basic service carried out to include rear brake pads and - due to vandalism - 4 new tyres that I had not budgeted for.

£1695 for a car with uncertain history and an aircon fault seems a bit pricey in comparison.

Regarding the seatbelt retraction did you not see the Lexus repair thread, pull out the belt and spray with silicon spray.

Did you win it, finished at £741.00 I think?

And how do you fix the aircon bulbs, This is someting Lexus should have got on top of, a major bugbear.

Not sure on the later models, it would seem that niggling faults are just beginning to appear on the series IV models.

What is the actual problem? Backlighting or button illumination.

What type of silicon spray did you use, pardon my ignorance. Mike
