Thats what puzzels me no leaks , slight camber on the groud but not enough to show empty?

Check your rocker cover gaskets, You may have a slight leak from one & its burning off on the exhaust manifold. (My one is doing this) I will get around to change the gasket this summer when it arrives as it will be a good few hours work on bank 1 (near side) bank 2 (off side) would be easy.

I think you would have noticed if the oil was leaking to that extent, very strange both cars are the same, perhaps someone is going around pinching engine oil from parked cars!

You said you have put in 6Ltrs on both cars, a full oil change including filter is only 5.5Lts?

Hi Martin

My 430 has never used a drop in 206K miles - if you had to put 6 liters in there is some thing wrong. Don't take this the wrong way but were you putting oil in the engine but checking the transmission fluid level. If so you need to get some oil out of your engine pronto over full is very very bad. If you had lost oil there would have been warnings on the dash also if you had a leak you would smell it if it got near something hot or you would see drips on the drive.

Good luck

Bren

I can't quite get my head around around this.

The engine holds 5.5 litres of oil and you have put that same amount in as a top up, which means there was absolutely no oil in the engine at the start so why has the low oil warning light not come on and why hasn't the engine seized due to having no oil?

i think he meant he put in 5.5 originally,at first i read it like you, something odd going on,this would'nt happen to two cars,, surely the oil lights should be on at least, really need to ascertain you have oil in engine before using them again

I'm beginning to think this thread is a somewhat belated April Fools joke?...........

Maybe it never happened, maybe it's all a dream, maybe we don't really exist......Camerons fault!
