  3. I actually took them some years ago when I was trying to get my head around the system and to follow along while reading the owners manual, yes I did/do read the manual and confess to being a nerd like that! 😂

  4. Back in September 2001 I was very excited to take delivery of a brand new IS200. For a twenty-three year old, not yet on the property ladder, it seemed a rather extravagant purchase, but seeing it there on the forecourt--with just 4 miles on the odometer--I was looking forward to it serving me well for many years. Well, thirteen years later I have exactly zero regrets about making that purchase. Yesterday the odometer rolled over 300,000 miles and the car hasn't let me down once. Sure, the cost of the petrol required to travel that distance has far exceeded the original cost of the car, but other than that it's been extremely reasonable to run and has had absolutely minimal problems. It's also remained both fun and comfortable to drive. If only all cars were as good as this :)

  5. Absolutely makes sense AND gives me hope! Thanks for that. I'll try again with Techstream and get it to a garage in the week if that's a fail.

  6. Hi Carl and welcome to the LOC, you duplicated your post so I removed the other one to avoid confusion. Sorry can’t comment on the RX400h other than like all Lexus cars they are good 😀

  7. Hi Lee, so you have a wire with a 3.5mm jack at one end and a USB C cable at the other. I take it you have the USB c into your phone? As for the swaying , that'll probably be the camber in the road or one of the brake calipers is sticking.

  8. Yes that's right. OK I will go to Lexus if I can find someone interested in such a minor sale. China did cost much so if they are wrong no loss. Thanks

  10. Maybe in this instance ..... you will never know BUT what I do know is that I have ordered, in the past, UCAs for my Ls400 from Amayama ( not RockAuto but similar credibility ) and these have been Toyota stamped on the body of the items and price was ( each ) say £120 but with carriage, Customs Duty and VAT and a small Royal Mail paperwork handling charge worked out at about £240 WHEREAS the UK Lexus supplied part was quoted at £500 or thereabouts Just think it's good to buy from RockAuto and Amayama where one can and with some great degree of confidence AND delivery times have always been acceptable Just my personal experience with several separate shipments over the years Malc

  11. OK my two penn'th again My indy mechanic in an earlier life, was based at Sheerness docks on Sheppey which is a big big import .... port for many marques of cars His job was to professionally touch-up, respray bits/areas of brand new cars that had arrived slightly damaged through knocks, scrapes etc Then the cars went on their merry way to the Dealers who were totally oblivious to this having happened ..... and the end buyers would therefore just never know until maybe, like you now ........... and the dealers quite justifiably knowing nothing of this with any specific car Good luck with it all ........ at 5 years old I'd be going for the local Body Shop if its reputation is good Malc

  12. Hi all Right, this is the update I took the car to local dealership. The dealer measured the car paint thickness and have concluded that the bonnet was repainted either by the previous owner or the dealer I bought the car from. Bear in mind I bought the car in 2018 when it was just two years old so I would have expected to have been informed of this at the time of purchase but I wasn’t. I have contacted the selling dealer as well and their view is that they never repaint cars that are for sale as it’s not cost effective for them to do so and if it was repainted by the previous owner then they wouldn’t have known about it when it was returned back to me (I believe it was on PCP by the first owner). None the less the selling dealer is going to dig into the paperwork to see what records they have for the car. I am not finding the dealer responsive and I suspect they won’t want to take any accountability for selling a fairly new car with a repainted bonnet. I have taken it to local Body Shop and they have quoted £260 to repaint the bonnet and they reckon they can get a good match with paint that’s around on the panels etc. Lexus have estimated a cost of £800-£1000 to repaint the bonnet, pillars and side panels as they believe that to get a good match you’d have to paint panels around the bonnet. I am not sure what I will do so will hold on for the time being in doing anything thanks all for your input and comments

  13. Your efforts well worthwhile then! Thanks for updating - useful to learn how resolved as others may well have similar problem at some point.

  14. @mikes5 You can see this guy, he has a few videos on this: It's bot really a hidden features list, more like features that aren't obvious, but still, I'd say it's worth a watch. Keep in mind that this is the facelift model and not all features are available on all cars As for the voice commands, I find them rather outdated to be honest. I had to use the 'Climate off' command when my AC buttons weren't working, since there was no other way to completely turn off ventilation. Oh boy was that a fun experience, arguing with the car. Also, to use the voice commands, you beed to be on the appropriate screen. For instance, if you want to change the temperature, you need to be on the climate screen. @LenT I also did not realize the deadlocks option. Just tested it on my car and can confirm a click is present when you press the lock button twice. You learn something new every day.

  15. This happened to me once while driving. The whole sat nav section just disappeared. After a 20 minute stop at a motorway services it was back to normal and hasn’t happened since. I don’t think there is any SD card on these models. All the updates are done by a USB stick in the USB port. The maps can update OTA (I think) and you can also update them using Lexus-tech.eu website. Your RC is a year newer than mine though so might be the MM19 version rather than MM17.

  16. Ah! That's an idea. My old RC had a card but this one has ML and no little flap. Shall have a search this morning 👍

  17. Tried the nav today and it gave me 3 routes. Testing first the ecologic route and that would have been a disaster as it showed the short way but through a valley and then a climb so whatever ecologic in that is hard to see. The fast route was using a highway, but to get to that would have been through very small roads where going fast could not really be recomended. Did not use the nav as I know the little island well, just had some spare time and would see if latest update had made the nav better. Recommended: Smartphone and Google Map.

  18. Had the same thing and it was due to a brake imbalance across the pads, needed one of the callipers replaced as it was leaking slightly.

  19. Blimey WOW Texas that must have took quite some time. Ruddy well done for that. Welcome to is250 ownership and the best Lexus forum there is Lee. Out of interest what's occupying the Aux socket in your car?

  20. Absolutely - that's definitely going above and beyond!

  21. Will do! I always use V-Power anyway for the other cars. I don't know if it makes any real difference, but IMO a lovely car deserves the best fuel 🙂 The car came with a comprehensive 3 month all-in warranty, so I will be keeping a close on everything for the next several weeks. After that, if I can find a good local independent, they will be doing the regular services. Yes, there were a few around. I had to travel quite a way to get mine, but I am very pleased with it. I especially wanted a silver one with the cream leather and dark wood interior, which I think is a nice combination. I love the look of the LS 460 in black with cream leather, but life is too short to clean a black car every time you take it out! 🙂

  22. Hi. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not onboard with techstream yet, but it seems I need to be so I'll be sourcing it this weekend, my little OBD reader is not showing any faults. I've checked the rubber over the boot switch its OK, the onboard sensors don't seem to be playing a part in this either. I started by emptying the boot space and taking off the tailgate trim, so no obstructions, rogue bits of rubber or trapped debris anywhere. Before removing the latch I siliconed the struts (in case they were sticky) and greased the working parts of the latch. After removing and testing the latch assembly I refitted it, put the lining back on and shut the tailgate...of course it now works perfectly, but as we all know these things will always recur at the worse possible time. I have read an unlatching tailgate is an issue with some of the R series (usually first noticed when the key in car warning is flashed up), various fixes have been tried, from packing the rubber stoppers to bending arms on micro switches, which indicates there maybe several causes as a opposed to single one, but in most cases a new latch assembly seems to have solved it, I suspected a broken spring inside the sealed black bit (its metal not plastic) which pulls the actuator away from the micro switch after it cycles shut, but no way to tell unless I break it open. So its wait for it to fail again, bite the bullet and fit a new latch and report back.

  23. It's not just UX owners; I think most models have a slightly worse fuel consumption through the winter. Extra heating, demisting/air con (and heated seats in some cases), all add to increased energy consumption. As an aside, have any other Lexus owners noticed a change (improvement) in fuel consumption, once a new engine has been "run in", e.g. done 3-4K miles? My ES has improved by some 3-5% once I went past 3K miles. Is the ECU leaning off the mixture a little maybe?

  24. Just popped out to the car to check our destination is ready for our trip tomorrow and there's no Navigation option, no maps, no Destination option, nothing... !! Radio works and Climate and Phone screens are there working as expected, just nothing connected with navigation. Not even in the speedo cluster, just blank! Phoned the dealer and was advised the system most likely going through an OTA update, check again in 1/2hr. Apparently they (the dealership) has had a number of calls from customers saying their sat nav is playing up. I didn't know my 2019 model was capable of OTA updates. Not maps update but a system update. Most curious
