  4. Hmmm yes the IS200T, one is still for sale up north, a silver Premier with very low miles and a perfect service history. (Discussed in another thread here.) It's not impossible that because it's old-school ICE, and a known quantity, it gets a break on insurance cost. I certainly do on the IS250...though maybe that's because it's old.

  6. This happened to me. An air con specialist rang Lexus and the two pipes going to the rear were about £950! Fitting would also be difficult and costly. He capped it off for me (near the battery) and regassed it for £240 incl vat. Only then did I realise I have hardly used the rear as there are usually only two of us. To be honest over the years I have never noticed. Cold air will go to the back any way just like a 'normal' car. You will loose the small fridge box but I never used it anyway.

  7. I found the 4 hours of cheap electricity wasn't enough to fully charge the battery overnight using the 13A charger which was a pain. If you factor in the lower cost power overnight for domestic use as well like running the dishwasher etc. the cost of a charger doesn't seem so onerous. I do find it strange that the Lexus doesn't provide both a start and stop time for charging.

  8. I posted the following in August last year based on numbers from that site. It shows that for the UK total numbers on the road were as follows: LS400 (1989 to 1996) peaked at 5.3k and the LS400 Auto (1997-2000) peaked at 2.3k which gives a UK total of 7.6k across 11 years (1989-2000). For the LS430 (2000-2006) that number was 2.4k. For the LS460 (2007-2017) that number was 849. For the LS600 (2007-2017) that number was 564. For the LS500 (2017-2023) that number was 122. So 674 out of 849 is a pretty good survival rate.

  9. Finally got the coilovers on a couple of days ago. That meant I was able to put my new wheels on. I got them last week, so I spent my Saturday painting the black parts of the wheels as the factory finish is half and half. Shiny spokes with black spokes. I wasn't a fan of that. Black wheels lose all the design details and I just don't like it personally. They're factory forged wheels off the new MK5 Supra. I had to use PCD adapters as Supra, as well as probably all German cars these days are 5x112. So the specs I managed to squeeze on are: 19x9 ET7 and 19x10 ET15. Still need to roll the arches to stop it from rubbing and then I'll be able to lower the front a bit more. Only got one decent pic at the moment, but more will follow.

  12. ….what doe’s not work or is irrepairable on my year 2000 Lexus LS 400 ? ☹️ this, understandably, with the odometer currently showing 170.688 mile’s, is likely to be an extended litany of broken and / or non operating feature’s / control’s and electronic system’s 😲. eye’s down, everyone 🙄, this is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth ! 🙄: * the head light high pressure spray washer’s do not work 😲! the motor hum’s so , surprise, surprise the nozzles will be obstructed with detritus. I hear the ripple of discontent amongst you all - some already making for the exit’s in disgust ! ☹️ the cause is lost - this Car is not going to sell. now ! please raise your hand, of those of you remaining, if you have ever used this feature ? thought not - in 68 year’s of non incident driving, not once ( following introduction ) have I ever needed, desired or been inclined to want to wash my headlight’s. have alway’s thought spraying muddy headlight’s cannot be effective ! wiper blade’s - maybe. owned a mint MB A124 cabriolet for many year’s ( significant other adored it! ) fitted with a blade cleaning system. keen to maintain the condition visited local Main Dealer for 2 h/l wiper blades’s - £46 please, sir !😲…ordered/ purchased, of course- had to have them ! *speedometer needle, occasionally, stick’s at 0 mph on starting car and proceeding to move ! a damn good spank to the left of centre on the instrument cowl quickly resolve’s this very intermittent problem ! 🤪 *the, actually a Pioneer, 7 speaker ( include’s rear shelf base woofer 🐕‍🦺 ), FM/LW, CD player system’s all work perfectly - the Cassette Player remain’s untested ( collection now in landfill ☹️ ). how much better can the Mark Levinson system be in the Lexus LS 430 ? - doubt much. by October ‘21 I wanted an in-car DAB / phone upgrade. the local Halford’s store was tasked with installing The Pure Highway DAB ( @ £179 ) add-on kit, complete with wireless remote control fitted on the centre console. initially, the system worked well - miraculously, to me, the Highway name was displayed on the Radio display screen ! then the DAB transmission’s became corrupted ( only listen to Radio 2, Radio 4 and Radio 4 Extra - what a sad old ‘git am I 😳 ). long story short, the Pioneer system was now elderly and was unable to sustain a DAB signal-£149 away 🙄 ! maybe a replacement receiver unit could deliver a signal - seen them for £100 on flea bay. ( my first post doe’s confess the system is ‘wired up’ 🙄 ). incidentally, the historic LS 400 problem of pixelating digital display’s was long gone on this, the final serie’s of the Lexus LS 400’s - they all display, fine ! 😃 * an irrepairable issue ? a chip, the size of half a match head, on driver’s side of windscreen. on screen when purchased. approached national screen supplier ( name start’s with auto ) for their mobile team to simply fill chip - they declined my invitation and recommended a £600+ screen replacement, thank you but no thank you Auto…..! Halford’s filled chip for £40 ! I can’t see chip driving in a forward direction it’s that minute - mot guy did, though - has to list it for the rest of time ( unless you want to spend 14%+ of the sale price to replace it ! ) 🙄 🙄 ….and there we have it, dear reader, my Lexus LS 400 is 23.5 year’s old - 170.688 miles showing and just 3 item’s listed as not correct ! listen to me, the Car cost c £ 55.000 in the year 2000, that is £ 101.500 in today’s money ! frankly, I am disgusted, outraged and find it totally intolerable and unacceptable that this, flagship, vehicle from such a highly regarded and respected manufacturer ( Lexus ) is , clearly, in such an appalling and near undriveable condition - as I write this I am quivering with both rage, anger and frustration. shame on you, Lexus ! yes, my Lexus LS40 is still For Sale at £4.495 but, based on the above, outrageous and appalling review, I beseech you, indeed pray, YOU WILL NOT PURCHASE this vehicle - let me take the hit, let it be my cross and penance to bear, I shall thrash it unmercifully to within an inch of it’s life with an ash tree branch until such time I can arrange to have the car collected and cast into the bowel’s of a local Crusher - perhaps, to join her ( him or other ) wicked / evil sister, Christine in the great scrap yard in the sky ! RIP OYY 655 ! 😲😲😲 anthony 😃

  13. A very good point! if you have the receipt and can get it back to the original retailer, then give them the problem. They’ll check for faulty cells, poor charging rate and any unauthorised current draw. Favourites might be something like an interior light - or even a sidelight. Yes, there should be an audible warning but on an older car that might not be working. Or it might be but you can’t hear it! That kept happening to me with our other car. A combination of a very soft, high pitched ‘bong’ and my poor hearing often resulted in my leaving the lights on! Yes, that’s what my GP said….😊

  17. Just looked back to my first 450h+ shown above (should read 9/5/2023) which at this time last year will have been 14 months old with approx 10k on clock. In May 2022 there was another thread we were noting range on - I'll see if I can find any posts from then as my new car has some 'learning' to do !! UPDATE: I've found the other thread, titled: NX 450h+ electric and petrol range, but it seems like I was more interested in working out the mpg than a day to day electric range then!!

  18. ….no, Chris - I have that Lexus option already installed ! bright banded yellow and black handle over driver’s headrest, in emergency - sharp pull forward, the canopy disappear’s in the slipstream and seat and driver are rocketed, literally, vertically upward’s 200 metre’s at 100 mph complete with drink’s holder - parachute deploy’s immediately on descent ! front passenger has one too - say’s Martin Baker on the headrest’s. 😳

  20. Simply put, there isn't a market for the F range in the UK. The reason they don't sell quick, is because they're not suaght after. Sadly anyone with visions of a £30k+ ISF selling quickly is living in the US market. The UK is just not the place for the ISF (well not yet). It doesn't matter what you have, only another enthusiast or someone that knows what they want, will go for it. To other people it's an over priced V8 that is not desirable. I wish it wasn't!

  22. Imzy.........There are Youtube videos of Toyota models (Yaris and Rav 4) with touch screens that illustrate the method to gain access to the camera settings. One showed touching and holding the audio button on the screen whilst turning the head lights on/off 3 times and another also a menu button. I suggest you do a Youtube search on “disappearing guide lines rear view camera” which will allow you to do a re-calibrate. Hope this helps (most of the videos were in the USA)

  23. I have just installed a Rewire Security DB2 on my NX300h. Installation and loading the app on my phone were both was very straight forward. The initial current draw was 30ma. It dropped to less than 10ma once it had found a GPS satellite and went into sleep mode. It has its own internal battery that allows it to function if it is disconnected from the car 12v battery.

  25. Personally I wouldn’t pay an extra for AWD on the UX250h but I wouldn’t avoid it either. It will improve traction in slippery conditions but in snow your money is better put towards all season or winter tyres.

  26. My first Lexus was a LS460 SE-L, bought from Lexus Carlisle and the first owner before me was a business owner who specified every extra and pack which in my naivety I thought was all standard equipment, how wrong I was when I began to understand the model compared to less equipped examples. This was my path forever and 6 Lexus cars later, a LS500h being my latest vehicle I never looked back. What a joy it was and it never let me down, nor has any Lexus let me down. I did fit two new upper B post trims due to wear and even re trimmed the lower section in a matching coloured leather despite the original covering being vinyl. A full one dealer only serviced history and Lexus Carlisle turned out to be and still are an exceptional dealership having bought a new ES300h from them in 2019. If you look at my thread titled "So Proud it would be an Understatement" you will see that very car just after I sold it to Phil Walker Car Sales of Sheffield who chased me for 2 months when I was first thinking of selling it. You won't regret a LS460 SE-L

  27. Well done you! I am very much like you. I never give up. This Canbus saga is looking increasingly like the Post Office scandal which isn't ending well for the PO. I am just grateful that my 2006 RX350 isn't affected and I have decided to keep it for another few years until I can replace it with a post 22 model which, I understand would be free from the Canbus risk.

  28. How fickle this insurance business is, thanks for the lead, I did try Chris Knott today, but, they could only place my risk with Covea Insurance, at in excess of £3000. Harry took all my details, and I thought was doing okay, but at no point was I asked if I would pay any voluntary excess, and it ain’t my job to do his for him. Had enough now, sticking with Tesco or NFU!

  29. I tried Tesco today but they declined to quote. No claims in 20 years, 10000 miles pa, 2 drivers, SDP only.
