  1. I don't know about the Rx Gen 3 but i had the same problem on my Rx400h. Jets are east to remove----just put a folded business card under the front and back of the jet. Press in towards the centre of the jet to disengage the two plastic clips (front and back) that hold the washer jet onto the bonnet. Lift upwards and pull slightly out. Remove the washer jet hose but put a small piece of tape around it to prevent it falling back into the bonnet. I bought a pair of new jets off of Ebay for around £6.00 Make sure that you get the "right angled" ones. Refit hose and push back into bonnet. The new ones had adjustable jets so that you could get the correct spray pattern onto the windscreen.
  2. Common problem with RX400h braking is seizure of the rear calliper slide pins. Loads of entries on this problem if you search the forum.
  3. Yes---they do work with wireless headphones. Look for something that looks like a vertical row of LEDs on the rear of the B pillar, these are the transmitters for the wireless headphones.. If you can't find the headphones there are a number of compatible ones available for sale on Ebay for a modest price
  4. A fairly well known for car thieves to operate during the night is to rock the car so that the alarm goes off, run away and hide. Repeat enough times until the owner gets fed up with getting up and resetting the alarm and eventually turns off the alarm with a view to investigating in the morning.   6. As I said in my earlier post that is almost certainly caused by the rear calliper slide pins being seized. They can be removed, clean and greased rather than buying complete new caliper assemblies. A set of good quality rear discs and pads (Ferodo) can be bought off Ebay for around £90
  7. If one of the rear discs is showing abnormal wear it could be that the slide pins in the callipers are sticking---a common problem. A Lexus specialist can easily remove the slide pins, clean and regrease, or if necessary replace the slide pins with new ones obtainable from Ebay for around a fiver. If it is the slide pins sticking then a Lexus dealer will normally want you to replace the whole calliper assembly for some hundreds of pounds.
  8. The slide pins on the rear callipers are often seized or partially seized on a vehicle of this age. A Lexus dealer will want you to replace the callipers at enormous cost---don't do this. A Lexus "specialist" can remove the slide pins, clean up, re-grease and fit new slide pins for a fraction of the cost.

  13. I also had a problem with the washer jet on my 2008 Rx400h, this time on the offside. Searched the internet as to how to get the jets off the bonnet and it is really very easy. Take a couple of old cardboard business cards. Slide one under the front of the jet and one under the rear of the jet. Push in towards the centre of the jet, fold the edges of the cards upwards and lift. Hey presto the jet comes out without any damage to the paintwork. Pull out the jet so that you have access to the pipework. Pull off the plastic pipe by twisting. Under no circumstances let go of the pipe when it is off the jet or you will lose it down the hole in the bonnet. I just wrapped a bit of duct tape around it to prevent this happening.   14. Quick search on Ebay for "Lexus Rx400 radiator" shows a range of new radiators from £66.75---I shouldn't imagine that a local independent garage would want too much for fitting one

  17. A good "independent" should be able to drill out the sheared slide pin and fit new ones. The well regarded Lexus and Toyota specialist TechOne based in Sidcup did just this for me when i had a seized rear callipers on my 400h.
  18. Worth checking to see if the rear discs show signs of rust or uneven wear. The regenerative aspect of the braking system means that the rear brakes don't get a lot of hard use and a common problem is a seizure of the slide pins in the rear calipers. Don't let a Lexus dealer convince you that you need new rear calipers as a good independent can remove the slide pins, clean them up, grease and re-fit with new rubber boots.

  22. Rather depends on if they are genuine Lexus pads and discs? I have always bought non Lexus kit such as Brembo or Pagid---both very well respected manufacturers of discs and pads
  23. Check for corrosion on the rear discs---usually a sign that the calliper slide pins are sticking
  24. Common fault with RX400H, especially one that it ten years old, is the seizure or partial seizure of the slide pins in the rear brake callipers. This could cause the rear pads pads to rub on the discs and could give the occaisional whirring noise that you mentioned. Don't go to a main dealer as they will want to replace the whole of the rear callipers at vast expense. Either go to a specialist who will remove, clean and re-grease the slide pins or have ago at doing it yourself. It's not too difficult---search youtube for "lexus slide pins" and you will find a number of videos showing you how to do it.
