  1. You would probably find a better deal away from Lexus although if pushed the salesmen will bring down that ARP % quite a lot.
  2. You may want to check the door on your microwave is nice and clean and the seals are not damaged. I wouldn't have thought there would be that much leakage on a fully working oven.
  3. Sounds like the electronic throttle shut down. You need to press the accelerator down all the way to get any response. You need to get the stored error codes from the ECU otherwise we are just guessing what the cause is. Either take it to a Lexus dealer or somebody with an OBD-II reader to get the codes.
  4. Looks like Lexus GB don't know what the true stats are. The link from Raz states 300 bhp for the 4.3 but their latest press release gives a figure of 282 bhp http://www.lexus.co.uk/news.php?page=article&id=geneva Sadly I feel the second figure will be the correct, the Euro version being 20bhp down on the US engine.

  7. The gap on standard GSs is very big. One of the reasons I haven't put my 18" wheels on my car. You have 3 choices. 1 - Get the GS sport suspension (2003 onwards) 2 - Coilovers 3 - Eibach springs Of the 3 the Eibach springs would be the worst option. Fitted those to my 1998 GS and although it looked better being lowered 30mm and the body roll was better the springs never felt matched to the shocks and just highlighted the shortcomings of the GS suspension set up. This may be better on face lifted models as the suspension set up was improved anyway but I wouldn't waste my money on another set. Brettster your GS does look lower because yours is a GS Sport and is lower. Matt's as a GS SE with sport pack which never had lowered suspension because it took Lexus nearly 3 years to try and get a good set up. That is why the sport was stopped at the end of 2000 and didn't come back until mid 2003.

  10. Need to know the part numbers on your disc. There are different versions of Nav unit which require different discs.
  11. I would contact Lexus GB and ask them if it is possible - it is on most models so I don't see why it isn't on the RX. Did you ask your dealer? It wouldn't be the first time a dealer has said something cannot be done when it can.

There are 3 part numbers - 2 printed on the disc and another one printed on the box (this is the number you would normally use to order) The part number will normally be very close to your original disc. e.g. if you have 86271 24121 then the next one would be 86271 24122. If the numbers are completly different then it is probably for a different version of nav unit unless Toyota have changed their numbering.
  13. If you can find all the parts required from the scrap yard then you can fit the OEM system but will take many hours to do. It you wanted to buy the parts new then you are looking at £5000.
  14. It is up to you if you want the belt changed or not. You are correct the service book doesn't state a time (although it does in other countries). I would say the belt is good for 10 years as it is with the newer ones (100k miles)
  15. You cannot compare the GS with a 7 series. You have already stated the GS has less wind noise than your 5 series. However I agree the ride quality is very poor in the GS - it's set up too much for the US market. Is your GS a face lift model (new style rear lights) as these do ride better than the 1998-2000 versions but it's still not good enough. I'm considering swapping out my suspension but don't want to spend £1000 to find it doesn't make things any better and I do not know of anybody in the UK that has already done it.
  16. Yes you need to clean the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve). Very common problem on the 3.0l V6 engine. Search or look through the ES300 or RX300 forums on the US site. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums

  19. They haven't sorted out the front seats then. Other than that it really doesn't say what it drives like or how it compares to the series II. I'm hoping for a big improvement in ride quality.
  20. The viewing post count will always be muh higher than posts. Each time you look at the thread it goes up. It's possible over 200 people have looked at this thread - it's also possible that 20 people have looked at it 13 times.
  21. 100k service is the belts I think. only 11k away though! ← depends on age. 1998 and some 1999 are service every 9k miles and the cambelt change is 63kmiles not 100k miles.
