So, I will shortly be the owner of this fine specimen. The Lexus has been fantastic, probably the best car I owned in my long list of motors. Felt like a change and this will certainly up the ante.  I dont usually purchase a car so quickly but the seller and the car itself on this occasion ticked all the boxes.

CL55 AMG very nice, driven the SL55 AMG is it the same engine?

It would have to be a special car to move onto next. Same engine -  Handbuilt M113 5.4L supercharger

Well, this made my day :tongue_smilie:

Nah, but seriously, we may have had our disagreements, but you are obviously a helpful and active member of this forum.

The CL looks very nice, and no doubt goes very well.  Good luck with it.

Beautiful car....hope you enjoy it greatly and it gives you good service.

How you going to get on with an auto box ? :wink1:

Never said I wouldn't get an auto :p, I had a drive in CL55, seamless gear shifts, incredible torque, shifts are quicker than CL500.

Long term review will tell all I guess but it certainly looks every part the 120k car it cost originally.

Likewise. Its a beautiful car,  fine craftsmanship is evident throughout. Will see how it goes. Life too short and all that.

Yep, life is way to short not to grab a bit of feel good motoring.....presumably at a fraction of that £120k brand new price, making the experience even sweeter! Hopefully build quality proves to be as good as it looks.

Will keep you updated on it!  I dont think I every bought a car so quickly but my gut instinct was to buy it. 3 owners and all the service book was stamped by MB garages and in the last few year by MB specialists, from looking inside it I could clearly see it was looked after.  Rear tyres absolutely gigantic, thankfully they were replaced last October.

Hi Eric,

First i would like to say congrats for your new acquisition , it looks amazing . I always fancied the cl's . Even if you have changed the brand , when you have some time i would appreciate if you could write a few words about the running costs for it and how do you find it.

Kind regards,

Adrian

So, I collected this over the weekend.

2 things

  1. Blimey, this is fast.
  2. Shell club points will rapidly increase

This is a serious lump of a car and it feels huge but its surprisingly easy to drive around town.  Will remain to be seen how much this costs to run but its certainly some beast to be driving.

Did I say its fast?

The worry that something big will break sooner or later turned me away from getting an E class to a Lexus. Since 2007 i have driven Mercs and they are lovely cars, but need TLC periodically.

CL has its own brand of problems if you trawl various forums - which I am sure you have. I would keep a little pot of money aside for maintenance.

in case anyone is interested.....

I wont be touching a MB again ever in my life. Plus the attitude of the people on the forum there is shocking. Sold a lemon and them muppets would not accept. The seller admited it and said my problem now.

I saw a lovely 2010 FSPORT, also I am considering a Honda Legend - 2009 ish.

Attitude of Merc Owners was staggering. The car had a multitude of faults.

Japanese car for me next please.

Looks like you bough Merc from someone who could be a close relative to Lexuschap and everyone on MB forum thinks is ok for dealer to sell cars with multiple faults. With that attitude of MB forum members I don't even want to know how it is on BMW forum lol. Good that you have a refund. Which Lexus will be next then?

I think BMW drivers expect more, their cars are, compared to MB, more reliable. MB owners just expect to have to pay £££ every year to fix issues. MB, like VW, rely on their past reputation for reliability and quality, in reality they are both below average.
