What did you do to your Lexus today.

Please take some photos if you can - I am interested in doing this myself. Just keep the Lanoguard away from the brake assembly. I understand you can put it on the exhaust but not the manifold.

I got all excited today, saw the whole picture coming together and beamed at her in all the soon to be glory.

The body shop kindly allowed me to come put some bits back on to make her a runner instead of a pusher. So all 4 calipers were installed, brake lines reattached and parking brake cable reconnected. Reinstated rad, condenser and associated pipes, air box etc all put back in and then finally all fluids refilled, only to realise I had forgot my EZ bleed kit for the brakes (doh!), so going back tomorrow morning to finish that off.

Battery has been at home on trickle since its departure to the body shop, I had to give it a go right?

Car of course started first time, no exhaust attached so a thumping V8 grumble rang through the building. 7 more sleeps and I should be good to have the car back at home 🙂

Oil and filter change on the IS250, washed, polished and then sorted out the oxidised headlights again with DuxBack (lasts 12 months or so) then washed the LS400.
Both cars rinsed with pure water (same as window cleaners use) and when the water dries it doesn’t leave any spotting on the paintwork or glass.
Took 5 hours, now time for a beer and watch some Ashes Cricket😀

Not today, but this week, took the car to 'The Wheel Specialist' in Leeds for a full clean and recoat.

They seemed pleasantly surprised that not one wheel had ever been 'kerbed' (I wouldn't do that to my motor!!!!), but at nine years old, the inboard sides of the rims were losing their paint, and the outers were dulled (I suspect previous owners may have had the cheap'n'cheerful handwash brigade use their acid spray guns on them.

However, the end result was excellent, great finish, there appear to be no flaws in the coating, and, what's more, received the 15% LOC discount !

Good 'workmanlike' business to deal with too.

Had the Car Air con regassed by Kwik Fit. After they last did it from a non working A/C situation (it died in France not having been used for fourteen months) I did myself boost it some time last year with A/C Pro and thought I'd use the rest of the Green Bottle but of course it had disappeared into the ether whilst in the Garage.  At £64.95 and as the A/C was still cyling but not getting cool I decided to get it topped up etc professionally rather than buy another Can. The temp fell to 9.2 on the 25 min. drive home so good job done, I guess.

Went to clean windscreen on inside as had a film of something on it. Then started to see 4 stone chips and 2 very small cracks in it. Think a lot of this only showed up after a very hot day up here 27c (usual summer temp is 20c-22c). Then came the thunderstorm (highly unusual) rained on scale that ive not seen in uk. Similar to auzzie cyclone or bad storm on Canada's west coast.  Phoned insurance company for go a head to claim for a new screen. Got go head no problem. To get done a home earliest date was end of July ☹️. If I take My LS430 to company windscreen fitting centre in Inverness it can be done next Wednesday. So I'm off to Inverness next week. Another drive for the LS430 to stretch its legs.

went shopping today and noticed some bugger overnight in a white vehicle has left much of his paint on my offside rear bumper ......  hope his car's well damaged ....  mine will probably just polish out and leave a reminder along with all the other dings and dents on my dearly beloved

I'd never heard of this treatment so had to Google it.  The write-ups seem to say it's intended for glass [w/screen + windows]?  Not doubting your experience for a second, but in the past I've had to wet-sand acrylic units to achieve real clarify.

If it works on plastic lenses, I'd probably give it a go on the 250.

Car came back to me on Saturday, not fit for road so had to be trailered, was the earliest I could organise the company I always use, but was worth the wait!

Today I made new weather seals for the rear lights as one was missing and the other very tired, seems a previous owner had issue with water leaking into boot and decided it was the missing weather seal, instead of making one, just siliconed the entire back end to within an inch of its life! So that'll be a job for another day.

So I used the old one as a template, bought the neoprene from eBay for £6, cut them out rough then trimmed down a little for fitment. Quick, easy and satisying, I wonder if easier than the silicone marathon....

@Razor61  Many thanks for that, it certainly looks like an impressive result. :thumbsup:   I'll pop in ECP next time I'm in town and get some.  

The only experience I have of wet-sanding was with the e60 which had 'got away from me' and required something drastic.  Went from this....

Given that they were c £1,000 [Adaptive Xenons] a side to replace them new, I had nothing to lose.

Highland John I have used 2000 and 3000 wet and dry wet on a slow drill to remove film. I do use low tack masking tape around the light lens. Then use a uv protective clear spray to stop or slow down the degrading of lens.

hockeyedwards that is good to know. Neoprene is very easy to get hold off. So why previous owner went overboard with silicone is baffling.

I would imagine a desperate move likely whilst it was rainy time of year and water pouring into the boot, probably had silicone easy to hand and temp fix.

Domturner that's very good mpg. Stop start traffic is what ruined what could of been a much more impressive mpg. On one of my posts I put photo up of 35.2mpg for a trip from Wick to Edinburgh over the Scottish Highlands. Return trip was 32.1mpg which had heavier traffic and tourists with no clue about driving in the Highlands. Speed all over the place, wanting to take photos from car on single lane roads not letting anyone overtake, then trying to perform a right turn when there was no right turn for miles.

Busy car related week, tough but someones gotta do it 😉

Seats all done, had some leather cream applied which seems to highlight how dry they are as it just soaks it up in an instant and the seats still feel a little stiff, so will wait until tomorrow and reassess if they need more, have put them in the car as garage space is a premium at the moment.

With leather keep adding the cream to them until you have to wipe the excess off 1 hour later.
At that point the leather is fully hydrated and should be supple and soft but nothing should come out when you put pressure on it with a clean cloth.
Those seats do look pretty good :thumbup:
I have always preferred light grey interiors over the cream I have in my LS, but it was the best one I could find/afford.

Yeah I presumed it would reach a point where there would be excess still there after some time.

They look good but not perfect, but a damn sight better than before. Annoyingly a few weird marks have appeared so possibly need some further work in the future, must have been from being left uncovered in the garage/ outside drying.

Having watched how easy all the cream interiors on cars my dad owned mark/ stain, I vowed never to have anything like it haha!

Had my tank vent pipe done last week, health report highlighted discs quite worn and tyres low. So discs and pads renewed alround. Next week wheels getting refurbed, new tyres and tpms to be fitted.
